I agree with this in premise, but if some schools are just going to do the "easy" thing and schedule a conference opponent as a OOC game (which is just, sigh), it defeats the purpose.

I'd rather see my school schedule 2 money games, a makeshift classic and a home and home with an in-state FCS/low level FBS than laying up with what's familiar.

I would hate to see it too but you know what, just let them be.
 
The conference need to rotate opponents, permanently removing JSU and Alcorn off Grambling and SU schedule was simply stupid! Gramblinites or Jaguar Nation wasn't excited about playing Valley AAMU and Bama State every year with on chance of facing JSU or Alcorn
 
I know this new schedule setup will allow for greater access to money games but in curious to exactly how much money does the swac provide to each school each year based off of the swac"s revenue sorta like how the SEC just split 400 million dollars to its member institutions which boiled down to 30 something million each . How much does the swac split. I never really saw much data on that throughout the years!

The SWAC last used a seven-game conference schedule during the 2008 season, but some members complained at the time that they had trouble finding four nonconference opponents.

Some of them, including Southern, resorted to playing SWAC rivals in nonconference games that didn’t count in the standings.

They didn't have no damn trouble. They took the easy way out.

We would be a fool not to continue the SU vs JSU game. To much money to leave on the table. Same can be said with SU vs Alcorn, GSU vs JSU, and GSU vs Alcorn. The purpose of this is to maximize revenue.

At the end of the day its all about money and trying to get many home games as possible. In 2017, SU will have Alcorn (probably) and JSU at Mumford. Those are 2 nonconference SWAC games that would be big draws for us. We have Prairie View at Mumford and Texas Southern plus UAPB on the road for our SWAC games. GSU in the Classic.

I think I would love to see us with FAMU or Tn State, Alcorn, and JSU at Mumford for some home games. Those 3 will sell out not including homecoming. We will make some serious money if we schedule right.

Going to UTSA, UAPB, Texas Southern, probably one or two more road games. The rest are home games.
 
Well scheduling teams like Virginia Lynchburg and College of Faith will not count anymore (record and stats) per the NCAA now. Now teams will have to schedule competitively and whats in the best financial interest of the school. Those days of padding you record will be gone, so coaches cant depend on those games to keep your job!
 



Hopson might as well get himself acquainted with the Howard folks.

Alcorn really needs to get some wins against Howard. We on like a 4-5 game losing streak against them.

Horne the Alcorn AD I believe has ties to FAMU as well.

I don't think it would be too bad to pad if we did it like the SEC (1 team per year not lower than 1 division below)

Examples of SEC 2015 Padding:
1) LSU-McNeese
2) Alabama-Charleston Southern
3) Georgia-Southern U. (say it isn't so)
4) Auburn-Jacksonville State
5) Texas A&M-Western Carolina
6) Missouri-S.E. Missouri State

If yall would sell some season tickets they'd all be profitable. The whole point is to play OUT OF CONFERENCE. Otherwise keep the 9 games. We all complain about the quality of our football but no one wants to do anything different. So we keep playing this tarded, inbred brand of football.

Preach.....

It is hypocritical to complain about how bad SWAC football is with the scheduling and all that (so the 9 game mandate took care of that) but then as soon as the news breaks about going back to the 7 games the talks of SWAC OOC games are already thrown out there
