Their ban specifically states that they won't participate in conference tournaments. So Pine Bluff's not eligible to play in the tournament yet southern is? They were banned from all NCAA post season play so if they win the tournament the SWAC has no representative.
This really hurts SU. Before this, I would have gone on record as to saying SU would be a favorite to win the tournament.

After a tumultuous regular season for the Southern baseball team, the Jaguars will travel to New Orleans for the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament without one of their top pitchers.
Freshman Tyler Robinson was ruled academically ineligible after falling below the required 12 hours for student-athletes as Southern heads into the conference tournament Wednesday. The Jaguars will open play in the double-elimination event with two-time defending tournament champion Jackson State at 9 a.m. at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
“Certainly we’re going to have to go a different route than we planned to,” Southern coach Roger Cador said Monday. “When the team is depending on someone and they’re not around, it does a disservice to the team. We’re hoping now the next guy steps up and does the job.”

He didnt flunk out. He dropped a class lol. As a person that has followed SWAC baseball for years, I just like the place SU baseball is in. The favorite never wins The SWAC baseball Tournament, because it's to many teams. Plus tournament ball is way different. SU has the best pitcher stats wise in Salvador who has 104 strikeouts in 78 innings pitched. That's insane. His win Lost record was hurt when Cador played all freshmen early, because folks weren't cleared yet. Once folks got cleared SU went on a roll. Only loss he has had since everyone was back was to tSU, but it wasn't his fault, we had 6 errors and, only lost 4-2. Salvador ain't losing unless SU has alot of errors. Robinson would have given SU another dominate pitcher.Only SU folks would believe Southern was a favorite to win the tourney even before this pitcher flunked out.
That goes back to academic advising.... He should have been told that he would become academically ineligible for dropping below 12 hours. That should have been told to the entire team the FIRST DAY they came together.
Yep. There is no way he should have been allowed to drop a class. My daughter can't even set her own schedule as an athlete at SU, let alone drop a class. She has to go through compliance. That goes back to academic advising.... He should have been told that he would become academically ineligible for dropping below 12 hours. That should have been told to the entire team the FIRST DAY they came together.
After re-reading the article maybe he did flunk a class lol. The way the author worded it leads to confusion. All I know he is ineligible. So if your daughter has to go.through that,, what happen to him? I am not trying to turn this into something its not, but with the issues at SU this should have been caught..
Funny lol. Before Jsu won the last 2, I think the east had only won once or twice in the last 20 years. PB was really good but SU has their number. TSU has SU's number. Should be a good tournament. Salvador ain't losing, unless SU has a lot of errors.one of the teams from the East..... Bama State, AAMU, or JSU.... The top West team in the tournament would be a 4th seed in the East.
No way that would've happened when I was at TSU. No way! Our academic advising and compliance are 10x better now than when I last played in 2006. If I remember correctly, our AA had to drop us from classes.
Smhhhhhh. How do SU let stuff like this happen.. Its not rocket science.. and with everything that is going on at SU,, you would think they would notice this stuff, I wouldn't advice any athlete to drop a class plain and SIMPLE..
The top west team is probably the best team in the conference this year.one of the teams from the East..... Bama State, AAMU, or JSU.... The top West team in the tournament would be a 4th seed in the East.
I think it may come down to Bama State and TXSU. Bama A&M and J-State will be in the hunt. Pitching will be the difference.Anyway back to baseball . Who y'all got winning. I think they should only let the top 2 teams from each side in. That way the best team would win the majority of the time.
If SU wins the SWAC(seriously doubt it), whoever they are playing in the championship will get the automatic bid.....just like basketball. I wish PB was in it though. They are the best this year.So Pine Bluff's not eligible to play in the tournament yet southern is? They were banned from all NCAA post season play so if they win the tournament the SWAC has no representative.
That's ancient history. The East has won the last three or three out of four. If JSU doesn't win it this year, Bama State will.Funny lol. Before Jsu won the last 2, I think the east had only won once or twice in the last 20 years. PB was really good but SU has their number. TSU has SU's number. Should be a good tournament. Salvador ain't losing, unless SU has a lot of errors.
Fixed it for you....That's ancient history. The East (JSU ) has won the last two. If JSU doesn't win it this year, Bama State will.
If that was the case then su wouldn't be in the tournament if PB was eligible.Anyway back to baseball . Who y'all got winning. I think they should only let the top 2 teams from each side in. That way the best team would win the majority of the time.
