Illinois State vs SDSU, FCS National Title Game 2015

No, its just that some of us have years of data to support the argument that the NCAA FCS playoffs (in general) simply do not outdraw FBS bowl games. The NCAA isn't going to overspend for bigger venues when there is no justification for it. And the game will be played at a time that ESPN sees fit for it to be played.

The entire structure of the FCS playoffs should be revamped.

I thought this game was on ESPN but I saw on the guide that it was on ESPN2. Got bumped for basketball.

I was watching either a bowl game or one of the semifinal FCS games and they had the D3 title game cut ins during that game.

It wasn't too long ago that they had both games on ESPN. The title game that WSSU was in was the last one I believe and that was either 2012 or 2013 so it wasn't that long ago. I guess people really do care about those "meaningless" bowl games between 6-6 teams as the rating indicate

Based on popularity, and excitement. Yes, the numbers are "ok" for a FCS game, but they aren't "National Championship" numbers. Some folks don't believe a FCS National Championship Game can draw 40k or more, but I do. SWAC fans of all people know that FCS schools can draw bigger numbers if the event is worth it.

I feel that the FCS Championship would be a bigger event if it was an actual bowl game in a major city. If the NCAA really promoted the event, it would be a big deal. I have always believed that one of these Godaddy/Camellia/Beef O Brady/Taxslayers/Credit Union type bowl games would draw more national attention and better numbers if they would to shoot for hosting the FCS National Championship Game instead of matching up 6-6 vs 7-5 Sun Belt, CUSA and MAC teams. I am 100% sure that a minor bowl like the Heart of Dallas Bowl" could draw more than 40k and bigger TV ratings if it hosted this game and the FCS National Championship Game was promoted well.

Base on what?

You're confusing HBCU football legacy with wanna be FBS but we're not. There's not one ounce of evidence to support your beliefs.

On a side note, there's more talk about this game over here, than on the meac board where folks are ready to jump off buildings not to play in the Chitlins bowl.

Ain't that a blip?

Apparently you don't know where Frisco, TX is.

Lol. I know where it is, but Cowboys Stadium or the Cotton Bowl has a better ring to it and would draw more attention.

I shouldn't have used "Southern Region" in that sentence of my post.

I think if this game is a success the first time around with a favorable match up (let's say a SU versus a FAMU), they will have no choice but to swallow their pride and come along for the ride.

Data doesn't always prove an experiment to be successful. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. In the 2013, the FCS Quarterfinals round game between Old Dominion and Georgia Southern drew a higher TV Rating than Arizona State vs Navy in the Fight Hunger Bowl
, and Oklahoma State vs Purdue in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. The FCS Championship Game had slightly more viewers than those two FBS games as well. The numbers weren't great, but they are higher numbers.

I agree with everything you are saying about ESPN and money, but that's why I believe that changes need to made in the FCS Championship Game. There is no doubt in my mind that a FCS Championship Game played in a more popular stadium or dome in a showcasing city would not have bigger numbers. Especially if the Chamoionship game was on reg-ESPN, NBC or even CBS.

Wishful thinking.

There is an ounce of evidence when you review rantings in previous years. In some cases, (not many), FCS games have had better numbers than some lower tie FBS Bowl Games.

Put me on that building jumping list as well. I am not trying to see another SWAC vs MEAC Bowl in this era. Although we have yet to win a Champion vs Champion MEAC-SWAC Challenge Game, I think the game is a great thing, but a Bowl Game isn't needed. I want to see us compete for a national championship. It's just a shame that the FCS Playoff Format is pure sh__. As someone said above, the entire playoff system needs to be revamped. The way the FCS Playoffs have thrown the MEAC Champion into top FCS fire in the first round is sickening. If the SWAC had been in the tournament, they would have sent Alcorn to Fargo faster than you can say SWAC.

You think a school like NDSU is no name school? There is a FCS world outside of the SWAC and MEAC. You let school like Montana, James Madison, Youngstown State, Delaware, Northern Iowa, Jacksonville State, Eastern Kentucky, Sam Houston, McNesse, Southeastern La, Coastal Carolina or Chattanooga make it to the FCS Championship Game in those areas and watch just wow many people show up for the game.

You do realize that the only people who follow FCS football are people who have either attended or have some affiliation with that school in their area..

First, please post where you got your numbers... and 2nd... none of these matchups happened in the 2013 or 2014 bowl seasons.

Bruh I'm not trying to be insulting, but you seem a little clueless as to what you're talking about.

There's never been such a game......EVER!

Wow. Then again, I am not shocked. Plenty of folks like FCS football contrast to what some here are saying. The numbers for those minor bowl games that feature a 6-6 teams don't usually look impressive. I agree that the FCS Championship would be bigger if that was the case.

There is no "experiment". The numbers show that FCS playoff games don't draw more than FBS bowl games. That is called a "fact".
I am not pointing out the entire playoffs. I know that the overall numbers are better for FBS Bowls. However, their are facts supporting certain FCS playoffs games that have drawn more TV viewers than lower tie FBS Bowl Games.

No matter what anyone says, it is very possible for a FCS Champship Game between a 13-1 NDSU and 12-2 Jacksonville State held in Cowboys Stadium or the Superdome could receive better TV ratings and a bigger crowd than a FBS Beef O Brady or Godaddy Bowl.

Montana, former FCS Appalachian State/Georgia Southern and a few others have seen higher ratings than some FBS Bowl Games.

What are you talking about? There have been challenging games that featured the defending conference champions. Hell, I know because I watched my G-Men flop two.

I get what you are saying. Don't forget that everyone doesn't have ESPNU as well.
