Re: SWAC Championship attendance

JROCK... we were a hurt qb away from kicking SU arse this year with 80% freshmen starting. We were up 3 touchdowns when our qb went out and you still won in the last 20 seconds of the game.

correct .... Lee was throwing darts the whole game but couldn't play the 4th quarter because of a MCL injury

they put Leachman in and the guy was so scared he ran backwards on every series going 4 and outs because he never played in a college game!....that was his 1st quarter ever hitting the field after 5 years on the sideline

Its all good though ...we wont have this QB dropoff in talent next season!

I sat on Southern's side and their fans couldn't believe it themselves...one SU fan even said "hey man there were no losers today" ..I told him "you welcome we don't have a 2nd string QB after Lee so I im not surprised yall came back"

Re: SWAC Championship attendance

Lee going down hurt us a bunch this year. We would have won at least three more games.

yep wish we had him 2 more years cause Totten made him a better QB in that short amount of time...he always had a strong arm and Totten taught him some things to be more effective!

the play at the end of the game that beat Bama state was called by Totten or he had something to do with it!

you can see Totten standing on the sideline before the play excited waving his hands cause he knew that long bomb to the endzone would work lol..that was the play that fired Barlow!..the bama state hornets were sick after that play by Jaymason Lee

No offense but where are all these folks going to come from.

Grambling is a major draw in Texas, our 2 largest alumni centers are located in Texas, and San Antonio has a growing amount of Gramblinites. The Grambling name will draw locals to the game, and add the fact Hopson will have never beat Fobbs, would certainly draw a lot of north Louisiana and Mississippi fans !

Re: SWAC Championship attendance

True....Just a feel, I don't see it happening anytime soon. It will be interesting to see how recruiting goes for you all. Bama State seems to be in disarray as well. My guess is for the next few years, Mississippi is going to rock the east. We'll see...

That guy is delusional. He actually thinks they have a good staff and some good talent..especially at WR.

Next year, we will start to see if Big Worm is winning with Stumps recruits and if he can win with his own.

As usual, there won't be ONE team in the SWAC as talented as JSU. We just have to get our special teams and defense to perform like they did in November.

There, fixed it for you......

Re: SWAC Championship attendance

We spotted y'all how many points in the 1st half?

Then did what in the 2nd?

You didn't spot us anything. Your team was just bad. Our problem back then is that our DC was stubborn and our special teams was horrid. We didn't adjust to that til November. Had we made those changes in the early part of the season, we would have beat ya'll 45-10

Big Worm is already winning with his recruits. LOL. As many Freshmen and Sophs we have put on the field the last 2 years, they are his recruits. We have very few Seniors at all on this team. Some were transfers. Only a few were Stump guys that started this year. The coach that recruited Willie Quinn is still on staff plus Quinn has connections to SU through his family. Chennis Berry who Big Worm hired has transformed our OL into something special. One thing I really like about Big Worm is he and his staff are not lazy. THey literally recruit year long. They take no time off and they are always looking to improve on themselves.

SU winning has open the doors up with kids flocking back to Baton Rouge in the boot. Plus we got facilities we can show and sell these days.

You really think Gram draws better than SU in H-town lol. SU's largest alumni chapter is Houston.

actually the coach that recruited Willie was fired. The WR coach we had from Miami, but SU had a inside track on Willie. Alot of big schools wanted him.

Re: SWAC Championship attendance

Next year how will teams defend us ? Nico Talbert and Manard will be lining up a receiver a long with Quinn! The only we need it to bigger and stronger at the line of scrimmage, thats how we lost saturday

If Menard wouldnt have got hurt, the first play of the season, I dont know how folks were going to defend SU honestly. Dude getting drafted high. They are going to have to double Menard, which would have left Willie in single coverage, and you know what that meant lol.

Re: SWAC Championship attendance

22, 25% of the roster which is about average.

Of them. Very few played. You know how you have those who have been there forever and never saw the field. LOL.

Our Srs on roster.

40 Ohene Akuoko DB 5-11 210 Sr. Springfield, Ill. (Southeast) Never started or played many minutes
1 Samuel Altman WR 6-0 180 Sr. Chicago, Ill. (College of Dupage) Part time starter that lost his job to Justin Morgan
74 Zachary Brown OL 6-4 315 Sr. Missouri City, Texas (Elkins) 4 Year starter and ALL SWAC OL. This will be a loss.
LonDres Johnson RB 5-9 180 Sr. Lutcher, La. (Lutcher) - Not in RB rotation
93 Jaylen Jordan DT 6-4 270 Sr. Missouri City, Texas (Elkins) Starter that missed most of the season due to compliance
4 Kevin King DB 5-9 185 Sr. Jacksonville, Fla. (Ribault) Rotating CB for most part. Missed time due to compliance early in season
97 Arthur Miley DE 6-6 250 Sr. Mangham, La. (Mangham) Starting DE. We will miss him and his height batting balls down.
66 Brandon Thibodeaux OL 6-3 299 Sr. New Orleans, La (Higgins) Part Time Starter when folks were hurt.
92 Audry Thompson DL 6-3 287 Sr. Sylmar, Calif (College of the Canyons)- FIRST YEAR ON TEAM, Transfer that did not play on defense.
28 Jonathon Wilson DB 6-2 180 Sr. Baton Rouge, La. (McKinley) Backup who saw some time. Not a lot
5 De'Andre Woodland DB 5-11 188 Sr. Baton Rouge, La. (Belaire) Starting CB, MISSED Early part of season with Compliance. Had INT in SCG.
47 Jeremy Coleman LB 6-0 202 RSr. Houston, Texas (New Mexico Military Institute)- DID NOT PLAY MUCH AT ALL. Never heard his named called this season
77 Dewayne Houston OL 6-5 315 RSr. Lafayette, La. (Northside)- STARTING OL.
45 Brian McCain FB 5-9 245 RSr. Chicago, Ill. (Percy L. Julian) - MY MVP for the TEAM. DUDE SWITCH from FB to LB.
13 Jaleel Richardson DB 6-1 187 RSr. New Orleans, La. (Warren Easton) - WE WILL MISS HIS Kick Returns. JSU is glad he is gone. LOL
19 William Waddel WR 6-3 200 RSr. Houston, Texas (Booker T. Washington)- NEVER GOT TO PLAY MUCH
18 Matthew Hill K 6-3 199 5Sr. Pensacola, Fla. (East Central CC)- DID NOT PLAY THIS YEAR- INELIGIBLE
54 Detrane Lindsey LB 5-11 205 5Sr. Houston, Texas (Booker T. Washington)- DID NOT PLAY THIS YEAR- INELIGIBLE
57 Javon Allen LB 5-11 218 Gr. New Orleans, La. (Edna Karr)- INJURED MAJORITY OF YEAR
81 Reggie Travis WR 6-3 190 Gr. Plaquemine, La. (Memphis) Starter that was a transfer this year from Memphis.

So basically we lose two starting OL and a WR on offense. But we get Randall Menard back who was hurt and that's why Travis got to play. Pre- Season All SWAC OL Anthony Mosely will return to help offset us losing Zac Brown and Dewayne Houston. Menard was really missed with his 6'4 frame at WR. So him coming back makes it easier for Quinn and Mike Jones.

Defense we lose starter DE Miley and DT J Jordan. Jordan missed most of the season there. We lose LB Brian McCain but on the flip side we get Pre-Season All SWAC LB Danny Brown back from sitting out. We lose King and Woodland. Woodland is the bigger loss. We still return 3 starters in Johnson, Anderson, and McDuffy in the secondary. So basically 4 Starters from the defense but get back a better LB than you lose which equates to losing on 3 on defense overall. So 16 total starters back with a bunch of Fr and Soph who had to play last year due to all the craziness surrounding compliance.

Special Teams loses Jaleel Richardson. But hell we still got Danny Johnson and Quinn who both returned kicks for TDs as well.

FG Kicker and Punter both return.

LOL. Look I want yall to be good. Ain't nothing like beating JSU arse when yall are good. I know yall feel the same way when you beat a good SU team. I want a 90s return. Where SU and JSU were having epic battles. Throw Gram and Alcorn in the mix and we got some things brewing. I am not a hater like some folks are. I like for the SWAC to be competitive.

Yeah Menard opens it up for Quinn, Jones and Morgan to run free. We need to get the ball in Morgan hands somehow as well. He has speed. We got some good TEs we don't use enough as well. 3 of them have played well when we did throw to them.
