College Football Playoff Poll

Re: Florida State Ranked 4th

1. These playoff games will be played at neutral sites and the teams will have the same amount of rest going in. So, there really isn't a great advantage or disadvantage for the four teams.

2. The committee keeps dropping FSU because they're looking at the way they've played in recent weeks against lesser opponents. Sure, they're unbeaten, but struggled against opponents --at least on paper -- they should beat more handily. It's the consistent struggle against these lesser opponents week-to-week that has caused them to drop in the rankings. They haven't been playing like one of the best four teams in the country for most of the season.

FSU is not going to drop any further even if they struggle to beat Ga. Tech. But the committee will leave them out if they lose, though.

. . . The Noles beat Ga. Tech and they're in the playoffs.

Believe it or not Kendrick, that may not be true.

Conference champions are not guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, and FSU has been steadily dropping lately, even after winning. If FSU beats Ga Tech on a last minute Hail Mary after having looked bad, and being dominated by Tech the whole game, the committee could drop them to #5, and move Ohio State up to #4 . . . it may not be likely, but its possible . . .

If they beat us, they are in... PERIOD. Tech is a 10-2 team ranked #11. No way does the committee keep the ONLY undefeated team in the nation out of the playoffs. FSU should be #1....no less than #2.

...even when they lose to Tech, they should be in.....(and they will lose to TECH)

That's the way it should be, but it is not a guarantee. If you've been watching the committee the past few weeks, you should know that they are unpredictible, and don't always follow the logic of the average fan. Also, I think there is a lot of FSU hate going on - around the country, and on the committee.

I'm just saying don't be totally shocked if FSU has yet another "bad win", and drops to #5 . . .

Re: Florida State Ranked 4th

Florida State will be in when they beat Georgia Tech. Period. No way they keep them out.

Yeah that would be totally bogus tho. I saw a simulated BCS poll. They had FSU at #2. They beat Florida.. the ACC skunked the SEC last weekend... how does FSU not benefit from that. Has to be the FSU hate.

Re: Florida State Ranked 4th

People should be calling for the end of this committee NOW! Bring back the BCS and roll with the top 4.

Re: Florida State Ranked 4th

I think we all can agree that an unbeaten Florida State should be among the four teams vying for a playoff spot. But, with the way they've played most of the season, should they be ranked higher than No. 4? I think that's the question the committee asked themselves.

I think that some of you guys need to remember that the committee isn't just looking at wins and losses . . . if they were, then how do you explain TCU being #3, and Baylor (the team that beat TCU) being #6, or whatever they're ranked? They have identical records, and Baylor won head-to-head. If they committee can justify this, they can justify dropping FSU after a "bad win" over Ga Tech.

Again, I'm not saying it should happen or that it will happen, I'm only saying I would not be totally shocked if it did happen . . .

The only consistent is that they consistently keep winning. They haven't lost a game since Nov 2012.

Well, explain why Marshall -- until they were beaten in a wild game against Western Kentucky -- no where near the top four even though they were undefeated?

Because this football playoff is for the Power 5 Conferences (plus Notre Dame), just like when the BCS was out there and they basically excluded teams outside of the Big 6 conferences from being in their bowl games until the threat of a lawsuit was coming about and they changed.

And that will come soon again. Another reason why they will expand to 8. That would allow an undefeated team like Boise State or UCF to make the playoff as at large. No way any non-power 5 school will make it with just 4 spots (including Boise State despite their run)

If folks are complaining about FSU dropping, then they should have been just as critical for the Marshalls of the world for being ignored by the committee, too.

That's what I've been saying all along!!!! Humans have emotions.... and how many people on that board have big 10 ties??? This reeks of corruption and anti-trust.....

Stick with the computers.... No bias nessacary

There are ADs representing Pac-12, SEC, Big 12 and ACC schools on the committee while everyone wants to claim a Big Ten conspiracy.

Re: Florida State Ranked 4th

Jeff Long spent 10 years in the Big 10
Barry Alvarez- AD Wisconsin
Tyrone Willingham- Mich. St Grad
Tom Osborne- Former Head Coach and AD at Nebraska (Big 10)

I just don't believe Ohio St deserves to be in it, when they said themselves they take injuries into account.

My top 4 are Bama, Oregon, TCU and Baylor as of today....

But if OSU wins, they will find a way to get them in there....

At this stage of the game you have to allow Ohio State to decide their fate on the field. It just wouldn't be fair to them. Yes, the committee does take injuries into account, which is why OSU was not severely punished for losing to Va. Tech without their starting QB. Since then, though, they have not lost, and been dominate in many games this season. The committee had the opportunity to evaluate them after Braxton went down.

That's why this championship game means so much to them.... They have to beat the BRAKES off Wisconsin (which I don't see happening) in order to have a sniff.... I'm not impressed with FSU period, plus I'm on record as saying they will lose to Ga. Tech. I think Baylor or TCU would beat them (my opinion).

TCU and Baylor would have to lose in order for Ohio St to have a chance (I don't see that happening)

Hell I might be inclined to slide Arizona in at #4 if they beat Oregon again (long shot to me)

The committee did say the 4 best teams at the end of the season......
