Yep. The BCS did its purpose which was pick the best two teams. Bama or MSU has to go into the SEC title game with 1 loss or you will hear the SEC bias talk when 1 loss OSU, TCU or Baylor is on the outside looking in

Yeah, with a formula that's not to be tweaked. Computers can't change their minds after the fact like humans. Humans give pity points to hurt qb's, injuries, etc..... Computers don't give two cents about that. Like your Ohio St. argument. Computers don't care that Braxton Miller was hurt and that's why they lost to Va. Tech..... It just sees a bad loss. Period.

And you do realize that the formula HAD been tweaked over the years, right?
 
Because the formula was alright... It took into account all body of work, not this "week to week" theory that the committee is doing. That's what I don't like. Computers don't make excuses, like "we only lost to Va tech because our qb got hurt and our backup was new" or "we should be higher than Baylor even though Baylor beat us straight up".

Bottom Line, the BCS computer rankings should have decided the 4 teams in the playoffs.....
 
Body of work has to include factors like injures because that impacts games. You can't ignore that.

And it's not like we're talking about a bunch of juggernauts here. No team is that much better than the next to be complaining about this system. We can guess and speculate, but nobody knows. They just don't. And computers wouldn't solve the problem either.
 
I dont agree with the power 5 conference champions getting automatic bids, but I believe thats the way it will go.

If you look at the way the power conferences manipulated March Madness, to make sure they get the money, this will go the same way, the road map has already been laid.

All formulas have to be tweeked over the years. Even Einstein's formula's. :smh: I'm sure it only gets tweeked in the beginning. Everything man creates has to be tweeked.
 
Funny how so many of YOU ALL wanted this playoff, now... :lmao:

I think that MOST people expected the BCS rankings to be used.... not some college playoff committee to be put in place.

They keep this up, these playoff games will be going on into the first weekend in Feb.----Super Bowl Sunday. :sick:

From 64 to 68 to appease the #65-68 teams in the country. They want the same convo liike college football is having now (everyone is talking about it. They are talking about doing a similar power ranking in college basketball) but can't do it because the season is too long.

TP, I told them that very same thing MONTHS ago.

I also told everybody that having a playoff meant you would have to beat Bama TWICE . . . and maybe even three times :lol: in some years, to win a championship. There is still a chance that Bama could even lose the Iron Bowl, win the SEC Championship, end up with two losses, and still be in the top four (depending on how some other teams do) . . . and like I just said, in this scenario, you'd have to beat Bama three times to keep them from being champs . . . y'all sure you still want this playoff? :lol:

When it goes to 8, they gonna want 16... It will never end. The BCS did a GREAT job at predicting the top two teams in the nation and of that TWO, the BEST team always got to play for the championship. This playoff schitt is too political and it opened a can of worms. Who told them to get a committee anyway? That came out of nowhere.

You do know that 1/3 of the BCS formula was the Harris poll -- a panel made up of 105 voters, right?

Shoot, 2/3 of the BCS formula was human.

Conference championships get automatic bid; five other teams will be selected as "wild cards" at-large bids by a small committee much like the NCAA Tournament committee to create a 16-team playoff.

This is based on the model presented in the book "Death to the BCS."
