It's true. It's all about the bands to. They know BCU is not bringing their band way to Grambling and Grambling is not paying for the band so the Interim President went after sponsors to pay for GSU's and BCU's band to attend the game in Atlanta. With Grambling football improving and trying to get back to it's winning ways and BCU having a nice football team, i think this game can be great if marketed right.

A lot of people are unhappy with this decision, Cynthia Warrick needs to remember she's a interim. Grambling hasn't had a team like BCU on campus for a while, so to move this game outside of Grambling, is a disservice to those of us to attend home games regularly !

BCU will make or break this game. Atlanta is a STRONG MEAC leaning town. It used to be a FAMU heavy town but that changed with the issues surrounding the Marching 100 a few years ago. Now, they are more BCU, NC A&T, and South Carolina State. But, at any point, FAMU could come back and regain their hold on Atlanta.
If BCU has a good turnout, it should be a nice game. I just don't see Grambling having that much appeal in Atlanta. Their band certainly has no appeal there.

That's one of the reasons they are moving the BCU game, but having BCU PVU TSU MVSU and AAMU at home, after being road warriors in 2014, would've been a very exciting home schedule.

The MEAC messed up that series. We played the challenge in Bham and then the 4 year deal was supposed to start the following year with the first game in BR. We played that one but MEAC added WSSU and forced all of y'all to schedule accordingly and we could not find a date to play in Tally ho. Even the first year in BR, you guys had to get SC State to change the game date so y'all could play us. After that we just had to cancel the deal. The bad thing was WSSU pulled out the MEAC that second year. Smh. The last two times we played in ATL had nothing to do with that previous home and home deal. That deal was made when Pete was still there.

Nobody is coming to your home stadium. BCU is not an attractive opponent for Grambling. In ATL, this works. Someone mentioned earlier that the Grambling band has no appeal in Atlanta. THAT is not true. The Grambling band has appeal NATION-WIDE. People will come see them. They will just be disappointed when they do. I have said for a while tho that Alabama State should be in that game.

After last Saturday, of course I have no say in this but I really can't see the Queen and Fuller changing their minds given that Grambling tried to appeal their decision on the payments to JSU and they were never satisfied with the settlement in the first place. It will probably take PVs President and AD to step in.

I agree. (and not just because I would finally have a "home" game after 20+ years :lol: ) I have it on very good authority that ASU was the pick for that game a couple years ago, but we couldn't move a previously scheduled game with Alcorn.

If Atl is a MEAC town as you say, it's only because the SWAC hasn't held games in Atl nearly as much. FAMU has a huge following here, but I doubt other MEAC schools would pull any bigger numbers than SWAC schools would.

Let me clear up some misconceptions here....
1. Atlanta is still a FAMU heavy town. There is a large alumni base here and they support their school in whatever way possible.
2. Atlanta is not a strong MEAC leaning town, it is an HBCU town. To some degree. There is an active HBCU alumni element in the metro area and most schools support HBCU events. The AFC (rather the 100 BMA) just have a tendency to negotiate (or be able to work out deals) with the MEAC schools. Since the restructuring of the AFC (kicking TnSU out and the downfall of the Hunnit), they have been in talks with a lot of schools, SWAC schools included. There just has not been any deals.
3. Grambling (and their band) has/will have appeal in ATL. Especially since they do not travel here often. Now whether their alums for out of town travel, I cannot speak on that. As TP said, their appeal is nationwide. I'll stop there.
4. The bands travel is included in the AFC contract/payout. So I don't know why GSU had to find sponsors to underwrite their travel.
5. This game is marketed...It's just in the city there's only going to be so much buzz about it. Now I don't know about outside of ATL and in the respective schools areas, but here it's marketed decent. I won't say well, but it is what is.
Personally, I was hoping the 100 BMA would talk to JSU and see if we would move one of those Gram payback games to ATL.

It is rumored that JSU-FAMU are the participants in 2016.
I wouldn't want JSU to move a home game to ATL. GSU would never move the JSU game from Grambling and we should never move GSU from Jackson.
