Former LSU Tiger Deangelo Peterson arrested for simple battery

...The charges stem from an argument with his girlfriend according to the police report by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Department. Peterson, a former tight end for the LSU Tigers was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail with a $1,500 bond.

Peterson's girlfriend stated to the EBR Sheriff's office in an affidavit that Peterson pushed her head after getting into a heated argument with him. She asked him to leave but he refused. She then went to the kitchen to get a knife hoping to scare him. Peterson took the knife away from her and pushed her on the floor while trying to choke her. She as able to get away from Peterson by kneeing him in the groin and locked herself in the bathroom. Peterson managed to get inside the bathroom, pushed her against the wall and took her cell phone away as she dialed the police before leaving.

So...I wonder how many former Southern football players that the Examiner don't know nor care to report about have been arrested on simple battery...IJA!

Trust us, if it were a Southern player, current or former, the Advocate would've jumped on it quicker than you can say LAPD.

They fugging know. Baton Rouge ain't that big. They knew in the past to report something. LOL. Especially when it hits the newsroom. Don't act naive.

If B Lee had gotten arrested for it. It would have been knew. When Silas Gibbs got killed a while back. It was brought up that he played for SU.

Actually the perp who killed Silas was arrested hanging around your alma mater. SMH.

DCG, just keep telling your kid to stay away from the knuckleheads on the squad and more importantly, stay the hell away from Tigerland and he'll be straight.

Why you been caping up for them so much? Really? What is it? Are you on the payroll or something?

Man, y'all leave DCG alone. She drank too much of Les Miles turf juice.

I wonder why she isn't charged for pulling the knife on him before he choked her. Is it because he wouldn't leave?

While the story doesn't make clear what she did after grabbing the knife, it is possible she could have be arrested on either pointing a deadly weapon (if she pointed it a him) or threatening a violent act complaints (I don't know how those acts are classified in Louisiana, though)

After reading the story further, it appears she grabbed the knife after claiming he pushes her head. I guess police thought that action was in self-defense, maybe. I don't know.

I have one question....Is she White????

Better question is..................why didn't he leave when she asked him to?

True, but being that I have family members that are and were police officers in Louisiana, they have personally told me stories on how redneck cops in Baton Rouge would plot with others to try to arrest Black men. I still remember an incident where a White couple that lived in an apartment build (The Gates) had plotted with a young White Baton Rouge police office to arrest the Black couple that lived above them just because they made too much noise as they walked across the floor. IMO, a federal investigation of Baton Rouge's police department needs to be open, especially now that a White cop had to resign due to racially inflammatory texts he sent to his girlfriends about Blacks around Southern University.

Did he live there also?

When he put his hands on her by pushing her head that's where he broke the law. Yet, it's her word against his unless there is a camera.

Hon I don't need to be told what to tell mine I stay all over it and repeat what I've said when examples present themselves in real time...He goes to Tigerland and he tell me about it I remind him of the do's and don't's of that place and hell of his teammates house parties...I'm not one of those parents that believe not mine and ignore the signs of a trouble kid my job at this point is to keep him humble and remind him he is only special to me and his dad...And I will cape up for LSU for as long as mine is there no pay needed!
