SEC the Top 4 Teams in the Playoffs

The NCAA basketball tourney uses a similarly constructed committee.

Also, computers are programmed by people.

But they are choosing 37 at-large teams instead of 4. that's where the controversy will be especially when the conference champs are not guaranteed a spot in the 4 team playoff. People were mad about USM and SMU (ranked) being left out but after a while it went away. Let them chose a 2 loss Ohio State who wins the Big 10 over a 2 loss SEC Divisional champ who lost in the title game and watch what happens

It's a lot when you just put in the conference champs and 6 at-large teams versus people choosing 4 teams based off their own personal criteria

Still the same makeup. You have 16 people voting so how much can one person influence the entire committee?

It was a little off but LSU would still only have one loss. If Bama or any other SEC goes into the Championship game undefeated, they are getting two teams if the undefeated team loses. USC will lose a game or two but I think them or a one loss Big 12 team (Oklahoma or Baylor) will get in over any Big 10 team with 1-2 losses. FSU, Va Tech or Clem has to be the ACC team that wins if they want an ACC representative to keep the Big 10 out and a 1 loss SEC team like LSU, Georgia or Florida out.

This is why it will be expanded to 8 games within 5 years.

The SEC will need another Alabama-LSU scenerio to make that happen and THAT ain't happening.

...and the Powers that be will NEVER leave Notre Dame out. That ND vs Florida State game is gonna decide a lot for ND.

Besides, this will be political, face it. That committee will have 6 teams to choose from.. SEC champ, B1G champ, ACC Champ, Notre Dame, Pac-12 champ, and Big 12 champ. There is NO way that anyone other than the SEC championship game winner gets a nod.

How would a team like BYU fit in? Notre Dame gets a bid but what about the other independents? OR... does Notre Dame only get a nod by having thier ACC/P5 connection?

Y'all already know the committee is going to do its best to screw the SEC.

LOL... I won't use the term "screw" but you all will need two VERY VERY solid azz-kicking teams to get TWO teams in. ..and you better believe that when it comes to people on that committee, they will certainly favor Big 12 and Pac 12 teams over the SEC and ACC. We see it ALL the time.

It's not too far fetched. You can actually have Auburn playing Georgia twice with a 1 loss Alabama team not going to the SEC championship game. It's hard to say how this is going to play out though. Too many good teams in the SEC to say what's going to happen though. You can also have a 1 loss Geogia team that loses in the championship game......If Oklahoma or Oregon lose one game the SOS for the SEC teams would be much better than these two teams. Just say you're hoping this doesn't happen. :lol: :emlaugh:

It's hard to say how this is going to play out though. Too many good teams in the SEC to say what's going to happen though. You can also have a 1 loss Geogia team that loses in the championship game......If Oklahoma or Oregon lose one game the SOS for the SEC teams would be much better than these two teams. Just say you're hoping this doesn't happen. :lol: :emlaugh:

I think what TP is saying, now that you have those folks on a committee picking these folks and not a computer. They will make sure you get 4 teams from different conferences this year. Eventually when this thing expands to 8 teams or whatever then you will see that second SEC team. But for the first go around, I will be willing to bet it is 4 teams from different conferences plus ND if they win enough games. Ga may have an easier time of getting to the SEC title game undefeated. The West I believe will not have an undefeated team. Just too tough. OU only has to worry about Baylor and maybe Okie State. The rest of the Big 12 pose no threat to them. I think they walk through the Big 12. With no Big 12 title game to trip them up. They are primed for a playoff spot. If the ACC winner is Fla State even with 1 loss. They will not deny them a chance to repeat. So that's two spots gone. No way Condi and Pat Haden allow the Pac 12 not have a rep. Then you have the SEC champ. The only wild card to me is Notre Dame if they some how run the table.
