Penn State ban is OVER. NCAA punked!

Well looks like Franklin got to Penn State at a good time.
The bowl ban is over and all schollies are back next year. So much for the HAMMER.


STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State will be eligible for the postseason this year and will have all its scholarships returned next year, after the NCAA agreed Monday afternoon to again reduce sanctions stemming from the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Penn State's athletics integrity monitor, former Sen. George Mitchell, recommended both actions in his second annual report that gauges progress made by the university. Minutes after the report was announced, the NCAA said it would follow both recommendations immediately.

The NCAA's decision cleared the way for coach James Franklin and Penn State to target a bowl game this season.
"Penn State has made remarkable progress over the past year," said South Carolina president Harris Pastides, a member of the NCAA's board of directors. "The board members and I believe the executive committee's decision is the right one. It allows both the university and the association to continue to move toward a common goal of ensuring that educating, nurturing and protecting young people is a top priority."

There should have never been a ban in the first place given the current players and staff didn't do shat. This was a criminal case and that mofo is in jail. The NCAA overstepped it's boundaries and the Big 10 and Penn State didn't do shat to fight back.

Actually they did. Just behind close doors so public opinion would not be against them. The BIG and Penn State lawyers worked behind the scenes on this one.

If I'm not mistaken Sandusky is still receiving his state pension.

Cee.. dude is in JAIL. Penn State also learned their lesson. They won't be giving Paterno his wins back either. Penn State violated the NCAA ethical code of conduct and the NCAA punished them for it... POINT BLANK!

He should and I bet his wife is spending every dime. His wife, children and grandchildren should not have to suffer. Im sure they already want to change their last names. I know if he was my grandfather, I would have been at the courthouse the next morning changing my last name to Smith. :lol:

No they haven't. Lol... Funny thing, the Sandusky family was one of our first real sponsors for the football camp we throw in Indianapolis every summer. After the scandal broke, we discussed whether or not to keep their name on the banner

I too didn't think it was necessary for the NCAA to ban Penn State for the actions of Sandusky. I have no problem with them overturning the ban in this instance.

LOL. This was strictly for recruiting purposes. Now Franklin can tell recruits when they visit Penn State during the season the ban is over and he has full schollies. That is the only reason to announce it now. This gives Penn State a leg back in the recruiting game RIGHT NOW. Would not be shocked to see kids switch their verbals now that Penn State is a player again.
 
Penn State should have never been sanctioned in the first place. The Sandusky stuff had NOTHING TO DO WITH GAINING AN IMPROPER ADVANTAGE ON THE FIELD, and had NOTHING TO DO WITH ON-THE-FIELD WINS AND LOSSES...

Now if they would've found out certain players were trading sex for scholarships at Penn State, then the NCAA would've had an improper benefits case.
