"The board will commit to a strategic agenda that envisions Southern University Baton Rouge becoming a top five HBCU, a leading university of its type in the state, and a top-200 public institution nationally within seven years, and that a measurable plan with clear benchmarks be established to achieve said goals," Mason wrote.

The board on Saturday opted not to approve Mason's vision of Southern's future, prompting the president to declare he would not accept an extension. So while probably a moot point, the board, after an hour of executive session, voted 9-4 not to approve a one-year contract extension for Mason.

Mason running for the hills!!!! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!

Seems like SU was more concerned with "assisting" the Cajuns with breaking an attendance record. Then RVs and Motorhomes. Last thing on their mind was who was eligible. They had them boys show up to board the bus for Cajun field then said oh wait, let's see them papers. Let's try and figure out who's eligible and who's not real quick before the game start.
Okay You, you, you, you and you gotta get off the bus. Y'all staying at home.

:smh: the scary part is, sounds like they rushed that check because they were trying to hurry & make it to the game in time for kickoff. So they may not have gotten it right. Could've possible skipped over someone that's ineligible. Or maybe even accidentally left an eligible player at school. That's what happens when you're incompetent and wait until you get on the bus to do something that important.

That story actually is more of the norm. I remember for a couple years now we've had many players have to sit out waiting to be cleared, most notably 2 years ago when we had many eventual starters out and ended up losing to Concordia. It is just another testament to understaffed compliance departments and the slow Clearinghouse.

Dude please. That has absolutely nothing to do with getting the other 99 players to the game to dress out and warmup for more than 30 minutes.
APR issues should've been dealt with throughout the week and if there was no decision made by Thursday or Friday morning, THEY AIN'T PLAYING. Simple as that and it's not rocket science.

Dude don't you have some mildew and mold to clean up and muscle milk to buy? Again, your monkey azzed program has won 2 games thus far in 2 years and counting.

O Really?

"Odums touched on several areas of need for the football program, which has faced cutbacks along with the rest of the university. Facilities, even those only five years old, need work, he said, highlighting substandard carpeting, leaks that have damaged the ceilings and poorly designed bathrooms and showers for the nearly 100 football players."

Whhhhhaattt?!!! Roof leaks, ceilings, bad carpet, small bathrooms and showers? What the hell is going on down there at su?
Man, you need to be a reporter. I didn't know all this was going on IN ADDITION to the APR stuff. WOW with all caps!!!

These people are not looking for the truth or any rational conversation and most of them are trolls. :emlaugh: You have one dummy that's pulling up news articles on S.U. president and another that think it's his job to defame anything S.U.

Frat. You know some people from a certain school don't want to hear that. And you are right about the slow clearing house. Had a cousin who transferred from Hampton to play baseball at SU. Clearinghouse took forever to get back with him. By the time he heard back from them, season was damn near over.

We didn't write the article. Let's talk about this like men, not women...men. Now tell us which players were ineligible and if it had any bearing on the score.

So you are saying that academically ineligible schools do things the same way?

But Jax, 30 minutes before kickoff for a game less than an hour away? Come on Jax, how you gone defend that bruh?

Stop trying to hide the shenanigans at SU with smack

Dude dont GSU play JSU in like 3 weeks....take yo focus off whats going on in BR and worry about getting them boys on the Bus....and dont think For 1 sec.. these JSU folk on this board kool wit you.. they gon let you have it game week and after.....and dont forget yall still have to go to Jackson. ...and all them disappointed Folk aint Forget....now worry about that.....the Bayou Classic wayyyyyyyy at the end of November!

So you are saying that academically ineligible schools do things the same way?

Basically. Valley and SU are both ran the same. That's what's he's saying gr.
Them academically ineligible schools are something else. No wonder people in both states are screaming "shut them down".

Come on yis2003, stay on topic. Now who are the ineligible players since you want to chime in? Can you please name them?

Its funny when you get called out on academic issues you revert back to the field of play...but have the audacity to call people trolls...:smh:

But at any rate this is more of a Compliance issue than the entire athletic department...now if it happens again it will be on the entire department..

Come on DGTM, you know that makes sense. If there's an eligibility question still ongoing by Thursday, they shouldn't play and they shouldn't have been late for a game less than ONE hour away.

Bruh let's be logical. What SWAC team do you know with an immense amount of depth? Not many, so if key kids are still in limbo about being cleared, coaches would wait as long as possible to hear something back regarding clearance, because they know there is a dropoff in talent to the replacements.

Don't know the whole story. Not gonna speculate.

Useless post.

So get the 99 players there first and have a van on standby for the OTHER five or so players. That was a safety issue for those players because they didn't have time to properly warm up like ULL players did, especially with this being the first game of the season.
Why did the coaches and AD put those players in such a bad predicament for five ineligible players? Can you see where I'm coming from?
There's a reason why warm ups is so vitally important to all athletes.
