Renovating Robinson Stadium

It's built on top of a pond....this is why Dr. Warrick emphasized the pumps....I envision something special with the stadium in the coming years.

Seriously though, why does su's baseball field seem to have huge drainage issues? Have you tried to get a contract with the school to help fix the problem? Just asking.

Who builds a long-term stadium on top of a pond? Those engineers had to know there'd be foundational problems in the forseeable future.

Forseeable future? Robinson Stadium is 30 years old and has yet to experience foundational problems. Coach Rob hired the best to design engineer and construct The Pit!

At the time of it being built the contractors were not aware of it. The construction started when I was in the 1st or 2nd grade. That was over 30+ years ago. Later after the sides began to wash as did much of Grambling in certain areas it was found that beneath Grambling and really much of Northeast/Central Louisiana was the Sparta Aquifer.

Right now there is a push to protect it as a source of water.

You need an U.S. Geological survey map to see the underground geological survey for a particular area.

Here's a generalized geologic map of Louisiana, which doesn't show the limits of the Sparta Aquifer, but it does show the general soil classification in Louisiana:

Here's the Sparta Aquifer aka as the Sparta-Memphis Aquifer, which includes Jackson, MS. The aquifer covers approximately 70,000 square miles.

I believe the current dilemma with the Sparta Aquifer, due to large industries that use large volumes of water, such as the lumber industry, there is more water flowing out of the aquifer then there is flowing into it. The aquifer is not being properly recharged. Basically, the ground water level of the aquifer has been rapidly dropping for decades.

In 2005, total water use from the Sparta-Memphis aquifer in the Mississippi embayment was about 540 million gallons per day (Mgal/d). Water use from the Sparta-Memphis aquifer was about 170 Mgal/d in Arkansas, about 68 Mgal/d in Louisiana, about 97 Mgal/d in Mississippi, and about 205 Mgal/d in Tennessee.

Lately? 2011 wasn't that long ago. It's going to take a few decades of winning in order JSU to in be mentioned in the same sentence with Grambling when it comes to football. For now, just keep parading on your 1 on field win against a "winless" GSU program. GSU folks understand that wins against teams with losing records doesn't define a championship program. Champions brag about beating good/quality opponents. Tossing Casey and his explosive JSU offense all over the field was something to brag about. But beating up on trash JSU Bell era teams just goes in our record and stats books.


We shall see what happens this season. JSU folks need to continue to pray that things don't get back to normal in Grambling, Louisiana.

They should be actually on their knees thanking Doug & His Previous Staff for their newly found confidence.
 
Nice to see our schools upgrade

A.W. Mumford Stadium is getting an upgrade to its scoreboard for the upcoming season.

Representatives from Daktronics have been working to replace the old fluorescent lights on the scoreboard with a state-of-the-art LED panel. The renovation is expected to be complete by the team’s season home opener against Central Methodist on Sept. 6.

Jones said plans are also in place to fully replace the video board as well, but no target date has been released.

It's amazing that people who are afraid to play us keep bragging about how many times they've beaten us. If you cowards get on the bus we can settle this like men.

What you posted in true...my Eagle Scout project dealt in part with this....

FYI...a survey by the USGS was done and Robinson Stadium problem can be fixed but they would not recommend digging again.

An aquifer is a pre-historic lake that got covered by catastropic activity. Pre-historic sea creatures are still alive down there! Look it up!
 
i'll stay on topic casuse I have all my smacked saved up for one certain school......this is long over due....glad the president has a vision and wants better for Grambling......
