Lines FBS & FBS vs. FCS Week 1

No way JSU beats us by 2 TD's

Besides I've got FAMU winning by at least 10...I honestly don't see JSU scoring many points on our defense

Our struggles were on offense last season...all signs point to us being much improved on that side of the ball...but if we aren't, then we could be leaving JSU with an "L"...but we should be much improved on offense

FAMU is not a good football team for you be doing all this yapping.

Put your school pride to the side and put down that spiked venom juice you drankin.

Wow...I didn't know stating an opinion and then explaining that opinion was considered "yapping"

But it's not my job to convince ya'll one way or another of who will have the better team...I will still state why I believe FAMU will/could win and JSU fans will continue to tell me I'm crazy...and that does not bother me in the least

August 30th

I wouldn't get my hopes up too high if I were you. Based on the line, it will be a very close game. I think there are a lot of intangibles in this game that makes it difficult to call (i.e. jsu new coach dynamic or a liability? Personnel has FAMU upgraded? Can FAMU handle a hostile environment with a first year jsu coach that feels like he has something to prove? etc.)

Of course FAMU could win, but there isn't any evidence based on anything rational to suggest the Rattlers have a chance based on the makeup of the team.

Good points...but this is Coach Holmes' 2nd year leading the Rattlers. I think JSU struggles a bit on offense with Ivy coming back from injury...he's a very talented kid but he'll facing live action against a veteran defensive backfield that led all of FCS last season in passing defense. Only gave up one big passing play to an FCS opponent, that I can remember, and that was one long passing play against BCU.

Our team this year is hungry, a little more mature, and Coach Holmes' knows what's at stake

Meanwhile, JSU has a brand new head coach, who has never been a head coach of a college program at anytime. Sure he knows the game, but can he be an effective coach? JSU loses some playmakers on offense and defense. Can JSU make up for those losses in personnel?

K, 1. He has been a HC lol.
2. Our offense is not predicated on big plays but more about how you set your defense up
This will be a good game.

Looks like we were typing at the same time. I was referring to jsu coach being a first year coach with something to prove.......It should be interesting.

I thought this was Holmes 3rd year.. WOW.. this will be easier than expected.. :snicker:

Also, Ivy won't struggle. Everyone is hoping that tho. What you need to remember is that we ARE JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY. Last year, Ivy started for Moore becasue Moore had a back injury. When Ivy got injured, Moore came in the next week, with pretty much NO pre-season snaps, and whooped BAMA State. When teams beat JSU, it's not for things like a player got injured, etc.. we HAVE players. We lose games when we give up too many turnovers. If FAMU wants to beat JSU, they need to win the turnover battle. If you don't, you will lose!

The Old Man would win a race vs Big Worm and Comegy... Worm and Comegy can even relay since they might get winded.. lol

Just can't help yourself can you? :emlaugh: You all lose that first game, it will be a good indicator for a long season....

I agree.. TP gonna be :bawling: if we lose to FUBU! (Fiyah, can we call MEwAC schools out of their names? )
...oh and at least you didn't deny what I said.. LOL

True. If Chang and the assistants pull out a win, I think they will be in the hunt (unlike most, I try to be optimistic with their team even if they derail threads without repercussion). I honestly think they will win 5-7 games THIS year

Year 2 and 3 is where we will find out if Bobby is as good a coach as they make him out to be or is he another Stump

I'd sure like to see that race. Odums is a military brat so my money is on him...... :emlaugh:

5-7 wins would be a total let down but you do have some fans who are expecting that. Of course, I'm not in that number.. 8 wins is the minimal I think I can accept to call this season a success.

Everyone forgets our Assistant head coach took a dormant team from loosers to winners. He has head coaching experience and we returned a lot of starters on defense. New schemes but the players have picked them up. He's added a few transfers to beef up competition at DB so FAMU will also have trouble on offense as they have no proven QB with a history of winning. So it will come down to who's revamped offense can produce or special teams.
