Alcorn Athletic Director Press Conference

It's a concern because 6 hbcus are ineligible in this conference and he just left a school in Apr hot water. We would hate for you to regress so calm down. I thought you all would have picked an alcornite that's all. As for top notch ADs, I would say it has to be an AD that keeps your school out of Apr trouble and has a vision for your school and is not afraid to think big. We have a couple in this conference.

His history has no bearings on Alcorn....That.lies in compliance.....I don't care about an Alcornite being hired..Hire the person who can do the job.....thats the reason HBCUs are trending down now..speak on your own and let us handle ours..

Well it's like this C-Leb.....

My fear is his progressive mentality will clash with the "stay the same" group at Alcorn. My alma mater will have to learn to be the best in HBCU Sports, you play and beat the best. We have to take advantage of home games and start getting more rivalries outside SU, JSU, and Valley. My alma mater however is in a VERY difficult position.

I think as time progresses there will be a VERY distinct war amongst HBCUs. This war is simply Urban HBCUs vs. Rural HBCUs. Alcorn is in Lorman, Mississippi. There is no hope for progression in this area. If ONLY Alcorn could somehow establish a 10-20 year plan that slowly moves the main campus to Natchez or Vicksburg. A football stadium in Natchez would attract more people than in Lorman. Yes, history is important but Alcorn has to progress. If they let our new AD create vision, we might stand a chance if his vision is contained and focused, not all over the place like Darren Hamilton.

However, time will tell. What I do know is that Alcorn must consider the possibility of further in-depth expansion into Natchez.

There was nothing he did at FAMU that was progressive...FAMU let him go, otherwise he'd still be at FAM

Nice guy, but he didn't deliver what was expected of him

Dr. Broussard is the best in the SWAC hands down....TFO (JSU) is the best AD in the SWAC in terms of academics and compliance...I like Alabama St Athletic Dept from a media standpoint even tho most people over there in the dept do not like his leadership but they are getting things done..

You sound like a mad little kid if you dont want any one to speak on Alcorn hire get mad at the person posted this is a public forum...And yes his history falls on him..The Athletic Director is over everything in that dept. And he is or should be heavily involved with the compliance director more so than anyone else...this hire is the reason HBCUs are trending down...I wish him Good Luck considering he is my frat brother and I actually know him...he will need it...

Bryan Hicks is one of the best ADs in the SWAC...prodigy of AD Jourich at Louisville

Listen people… Can we please let the man get in position and at least try first? Sheeesh… This reminds me of the whole Coach Hopson hire… Everyone was so doubtful about that too. Now all this talk about Alcorn progressing and/or relocating is campus to Natchez or Vicksburg is ridiculous and unrealistic. Know the history of Alcorn as the country's FIRST land grand college for Africans-Americans before you allow your mind to wonder off like that. The campus isn't going anywhere…forget about that. As far as progression…the actual university is progressing and you would know that if you were being present at functions there. It's the towns around it that are not moving up. So you should be barking at the State of Mississippi about setting up more infrastructure in places like Port Gibson and Fayette. It's not Alcorn's fault! An no…every HBCU should not be nor seek to be an urban university. Our differences in environment is what makes each school unique.

Hopson struggled at a FBS school, that was different than this cat. This cat took an entire FCS-HBCU athletic Department down the tubes. Not saying that he can't improve but he has failed on this level once

Granted…he was turned lose over there at Florida A&M like a wild child. What I'm saying is this.. This is not the first time a shuffle from HBCU to another for whatever reason has occurred. This new AD may very well be liberal and whimsical with his ideas. He still has to go against some conservative strong-holds over there. The two together could balance out or they could clash.. I dunno, we just have to see how it goes. Trying something new.

When we got Viv, she came with some baggage from her previous stops and I am on the fence still. She has kept us out of APR trouble but she was piling up lawsuits like there was no tomorrow. I don't think she is running the ship at JSU right now personally. I think she just in place cause she close with meyers.

Yea I know… I think all of them have baggage, just some more than others. I do know that when it comes down to the academics of our athletes, Alcorn does not play any games. They will get their lesson before they run and bounce a ball… I do not expect that to change.

1. Hopson has yet to bring us a SWAC Championship. This he must do. Getting there will not cut it either.

2. Fayette and PG are no Vicksburg and Natchez. Untapped potential awaits in Vicksburg and Natchez.

Bryan Hicks is a good one too. He hasnt had any issues and is on top of academics...the relationship he built with players at Louisville is the reason some have given back to the program at Louisville while he was there...

Entire athletic department has been kicked out of the NCAA under his watch

Best AD in the SWAC?

I think your hate for Southern outweighs everything else about the Broussard. The fact is the previous AD they had was horrible he came in and cleaned up alot of mess that the previous AD left. His staff loves him over there and he is working to get stuff done, I bet you they have their budgets in order for the season. :smh:

Nope no real power she is great for compliance.

The mentality here… smh.. Do you understand the political climate in Mississippi? Do you realize that Alcorn is not a private institution that can freely do whatever it wants? Do you realize that it takes millions of taxpayers dollars to do anything at Alcorn? Did you know that the Mississippi State Legislature and somewhat the College Board are truly the ones in power here? Did you know that Mississippi has purposefully not placed job opportunities in Claiborne and Jefferson counties just to keep it's people poor and hopeless? Alcorn is the only liaison for future affluency in that area. But because of the state refusing to approve infrastructure in places like Port Gibson & Fayette, everyone has to settle in other parts of the state or move out of state. Vicksburg and Natchez are only looked after because white people set up ports for trade there back in the day. It's easy to sit here and dream and type on the computer about things we think should occur. But when you learn the inner-workings of why things are the way they are, you start to see and think more clearly. smh… lemme get off my soapbox.. Gotta get to work.

Budgets? Budgets....that's what you got budgets? When you state a fact that doesn't mean you are being hateful. It's silly to proclaim someone is great at something if he has failed at his primary responsibility. Now if he had stopped SU from getting kicked out of the ncaa THEN he would've been good. You can't claim a total failure to be great just because he sounds good describing his failure.

You say Broussard is good cause you "think' his budgets are in order. If I told you that JSU has been kicked out of the NCAA but Viv has our budgets in order you would cuss me flat out

Broussard had no control over what happened in the past.

If I tell you anything about an Athletic Director in the SWAC its based on what I know from personal interaction not TSPN talk...Broussard is the best in the SWAC hands down from the way he manages his support staff, the facility upgrades plan of action he has in the works, the ability to raise funds/ build community relationships and the relationship that he has with his coaching staff...I would certainly take him over TFO (not saying the TFO is all bad because I now know how we work at JSU and for the most part she is keeping things afloat) but I would take Broussard...funny how you dislike Broussard for NCAA issues but you stick by the AD that wasnt on top of things at JSU during our APR issues....

Kendrick, is that you?:smh:

ASU has shied away from hiring an Alcornite in favor of these outsiders who've all bailed or failed...
Back on topic. Only time will tell how he will fare at Alcorn. His past does give him a "black eye" but he's getting a chance at redemption. Hope he (and Alcorn) does well.
