Carlos Boozer to join Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired Carlos Boozer on amnesty waivers, sources told ESPN.com.

Boozer was released by the Chicago Bulls earlier this week and teams with cap space could make a bid on a portion of his $16.8 million contract. The Lakers made the highest bid in a blind auction and were awarded him on Thursday shortly after 5 p.m. Boozer averaged 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds for the Bulls last season.

Only nine teams in the league had sufficient salary-cap space to bid for Boozer: Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Milwaukee, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Utah and the Lakers.

After a rough start to free agency, L.A. has now secured relative bargain deals with Memphis Grizzlies free-agent forward Ed Davis and Boozer to upgrade their frontcourt cast.

Ill take Boozer as a role player. He has proven that he is not a main player or someone you can depend on, but he is solid under the board and will give you 15 points. He's a nice piece beside THEGOAT

Why sign Carlos? Now you have 4 guys who play the same Damn position. Boozer, Randle, and ed smh. The Lakers are a bunch of loozers. Putting all your faith in aging kobe. Lmaooooo

I was telling JR that just a couple of days ago.

You're right. I don't believe the Lakers will be in the mix.

1)And you didn't believe Kobe would win a ring without Shaq

2) You didn't believe Kobe would win more rings than Shaq

3)You didn't believe the Saints would win the Super Bowl

4)You didn't believe the Jags would win the SCG

5) You thought the Heat would win six titles with LeBron

6) You didn't believe the Spurs would win

Would you like me to go on?

:emlaugh:
