Yesterday I had a recent JSU baseball signee in my home. I told him about the budding rivalry between JSU and Bama State. He said he followed the baseball rivalry. I told him the rivalry was in all sports. kudos to JSU for getting a fine young man in Michael Peterson. I will follow him thru his college career.

Man I remember going to Bragg stadium (or whatever that shat-hole is) Lol...man they hung 42 on SU and Halftime hadn't came LMAO...man them fans were on our ass...I think we dayum near got into a fight with them cornballs...it got heated..and SU came into that game with 1 lose I wanna say...man the 1st play of that game..Our Returner got lit up and the whole dayum stadium said "BOOM" LMAO...man I dayum near cried..we couldn't stop their 4 wide (at the time they were the only college team running that spread-hurry up) to save our life...it was so bad..smh..Pete huddled the team mid-way in the 2nd quarter...at that point, it was playing for pride Lol..shat didn't help..smh..it was ugly...smh..the worse I seen us getting beat..we got took to the shed that night..and I think it may have been some trash talking that week..I just knew, even tailgating it was serious...them cornballs didn't want us there and we didn't wanna be there..shat had got real..real quick...

I remember I think dude came from FSU and he played FS for us 1# was his number, dude had a mouth full of golds Lol.., and we had a short corner, I can't remember that dude name, but he was ok, but he was 'that' corner for us...we kept one..man they ate they asses up with that spread..LOL

When I was growing up, Southern was the only school we played who's fans you would see in Tallahassee on the Thursday and Friday before the game...no matter where you went, you were guaranteed to see an SU flag on a car. I remember getting inside the stadium in 99 and seeing blue and gold everywhere...and the trash talking between the fans was on another level.

Only Bama State in 2008 and Fort Valley State in 2011 rivaled SU's fans in that regard...SCSU on smaller scale

Another funny story, my uncle used to drive trucks and install machines, which required heavy travel. One day he was driving through Louisiana while wearing a FAMU hat. He stopped for something to eat and was told to remove his hat...this was back when FAMU and SU were playing every year.

92 was the WORST.. when the refs let SU run a dead ball in for a TD. We still came back and whooped that azz tho.

That wasnt 92, that was 94....SU cheated that ass off in 94 with the deadball punt return and 98 with that broken clock mess. Dont forget 96 when they cut our brakelines and tried to kill a bus full of students just to win a football game. I will never forget our players walking across the field fully dressed in street clothes at 7 PM. The game started at 730.

I don't consider su as a rival...an old head said 1. Jsu vs su game somebody shot down on the field. 2. One year the field was flooded but the entire state of Louisiana was dry :lmao: is this true?

Not true.

Nah, I don't think anyone has ever aimed at the field LOL. But in 2005, I did have an SU fan pull up his shirt to reveal a gun....we were talking noise to him, but we shut up real quick. I brought my then-girlfriend to that game with me- the look on her face when that guy showed his piece!

We would literally take over a city LOL....we would be deep in that city mall, churches/popeyes, Ryans restaurant that Friday night or Thursday depending if Kickoff was early..SU would roll so deep in a city, the food places would run out of food and shat LOL...smh..man them was the days

Bruh Literally my ppl were about to get into several times Lol....Dude my ppl started talking Cash money on yall grounds..tail-gating, while paying to get into the parking lot and shat..talkin noise to the ppl telling us where to park..Like yea we here...LOL...boy the opponent's fans hated to see SU roll into they shat deep with them flags and shakers...LOL

Man when I seen the refs take dive and the players and Po Pete  I knew shat had just got real LOL

In either 96 or 98, everyone had to duck in their seats cause someone was running thru the endzone shooting at somebody.. Then the bands started blasting and the game resumed as normal.. :lmao:

Bruh you have tears coming down my eyes
LMFAO

He just telling the truth!! I dont know why anyone would list Alcorn vs GSU as a rivalry.

Historically, you can't deny the rivalry. From the Red River Classic days thru the McNair days.. Alcorn vs Grambling was the place to be! Now since then, either Alcorn has sucked or Grambling has sucked and the rivalry has lost it's shine but to ANY old head.. GSU and Alcorn is DEF a rivalry!

That is SWAC folklore. Some folks @ S.U. will tell you jsu wet the field to slow down the Jags speed. :emlaugh:

Why is it around 2:12 left in the 4th quarter JSU scoreboard or Alcorn scoreboard blinks on and off like it's about to go out and then it goes out and then them old SU ladies say "They messing wit the Clock lawd ham mercy" LOL...shid use to stay happening in the 90s..then the fat black ref says, "The time will be kept on the field" LMAOoo..dayum 2:12 seem forever...

Yes, anyone that has been around the SWAC a while knows that Alcorn and Gram has rivalry history. At one time those two would open up the season and sparks would fly..........That was well before the McNair days......

The most egregious scoreboard incident IMHO was in Montgomery Crampton Bowl. Man those nut were flipping minutes on S.U. Folks in the stands were pointing at the scoreboard. :emlaugh: I knew it was going to be trouble when folks started filling the endzone seats. You could just feel the intensity in the stadium. I think it was 2004. That backfired on them though......Southern came from behind and broke their hearts.

I remember the last time y'all played in Bragg and beat us in overtime...y'all fans stormed the field and them sprinklers came on quick LOL

Yeah but thats really typical of them though

For MOI:

Pre 90's

1). SU vs FAMU
2). SU vs GSU
3). SU vs JSU

Post 90's

1. SU vs JSU
2. SU vs GSU
3. SU vs FAMU

Really? More than folks that actually went there? I guess I will say that Grambling and JSU will never become a rivalry then either since we are into making asinine statements.

When I was on the yard at PB, nobody mentioned Valley. You guys keep questioning why Valley and PB doesn't have a rivalry while I'm trying to tell you why they don't have a rivalry smh....

Yeah, Mumford used be a wild place sometimes. I remember as a freshman going to my very first pep rally as a student at S.U. Some fool pulled out a gun and the stampeed was on. I hopped the fence to get out of the crowds way on the football field and hurt my ankle a tad. :emlaugh: A lot of the disturbances came from people that weren't students but rather outsiders from BR and Scotlandville....
