Actually, I had FAMU-BCU listed twice when I was rearranging some things.. so I can give JSU-ASU the #20 spot. I just think that when looking at the other rivalries on the list, one thing they have is longevity. For us, our games have really only been relevant since 2000. However, the teams are certainly falling into "hate each other" category.. LOL

Yeah, Bama State fans were pretty mad after that baseball series....for fans and alumni, that heat will carry over into football season.

I'll never forget back in 2001 Kent vs Kennedy was a classic game. Ever since that game, it has turned into a rivalry.

I will take a crack at a top 20.. (u know I have to be extra.. )

1. Jackson State-Southern
2. Southern-Grambling
3. Alabama State-AAMU
4. Jackson State-Alcorn
5. Southern-FAMU
6. FAMU-BCU
7. Southern-Alcorn
8. Jackson State-TNState
9. A&T-WSSU
10. A&T-NCCU
11. Jackson State-Valley
12. Jackson State-Grambling
13. Alabama State-Tuskegee
14. Alcorn-Grambling
15. TxSo-PV
16. Hampton-Norfolk State
17. SCState-A&T
18. Norfolk State-Virginia State
19. Hampton-Howard
20. Jackson State-Alabama State

To me, Grambling-Jackson State SHOULD be a top 5 rivalry but neither fan base has really developed that killer instinct for each other.

I worked with a couple of folks that went to Hampton and Norfolk St. Same section. Not sure how their alums are regarding that series but those two females were talking mad schitt in the dept.

Although it was cool playing FAMU in the ATL ... the game just felt better in Baton Rouge and Tallahassee. Please make this home-and-home again. If not, at least consider playing it in Mobile (halfway between the schools)....or ATL

Man I remember going to Bragg stadium (or whatever that shat-hole is) Lol...man they hung 42 on SU and Halftime hadn't came LMAO...man them fans were on our ass...I think we dayum near got into a fight with them cornballs...it got heated..and SU came into that game with 1 lose I wanna say...man the 1st play of that game..Our Returner got lit up and the whole dayum stadium said "BOOM" LMAO...man I dayum near cried..we couldn't stop their 4 wide (at the time they were the only college team running that spread-hurry up) to save our life...it was so bad..smh..Pete huddled the team mid-way in the 2nd quarter...at that point, it was playing for pride Lol..shat didn't help..smh..it was ugly...smh..the worse I seen us getting beat..we got took to the shed that night..and I think it may have been some trash talking that week..I just knew, even tailgating it was serious...them cornballs didn't want us there and we didn't wanna be there..shat had got real..real quick...

I remember I think dude came from FSU and he played FS for us 1# was his number, dude had a mouth full of golds Lol.., and we had a short corner, I can't remember that dude name, but he was ok, but he was 'that' corner for us...we kept one..man they ate they asses up with that spread..LOL

Who would your picks be? Here are mine... No Order.

1. SU/JSU: Pure HATE...... There is NO Love... We are competitive in everything. ALL Sports, Fans, Bands, Dancers, Education, Choirs (Yes, CHOIRS), etc. The list goes on and on. SU handed JSU one of the most horrible Losses in Football History.... 98-0 (1929)
30-29 Series lead..... SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY!!!!

2. SU/FAMU: One of the Longest standing (We Need this Back) HBCU Football rivalries. Quite Heated from Football, Bands (Jukebox vs. 100), Fans..... Amazing Shootouts and Amazing Finishes....
26-35-1 Series Lead....... FAMU!!!!!

3. SU/GSU: Truly Family Tradition Thanksgiving Weekend Trip to New Orleans. Fans, Fanfare, Lights & Sounds, Infamous Battle of the Bands (20-30,000 fans), Highlighted by the Big Game!!! The Only HBCU game to be Showcased on National Television!!
31-30 Series Lead.......... SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY!!!!

4. Bama State/AAMU: Fanfare at its finest. Still holding on at the top of the list for Classic Games.
38-37-3 Series Lead.......... BAMA STATE!!!!

5. SU/Alcorn: Good Ole Country Fun...... Nothing Like the Jaguars/Braves on the Reservation....
31-32 Series Lead.......... ALCORN UNIVERSITY!!!

What would yours be...?

Add GSU vs. PV and GSU vs UAPB

I'll never forget back in 2001 Kent vs Kennedy was a classic game. Ever since that game, it has turned into a rivalry.
I don't think I will EVER forget how the refs cheated and "gave" Jsu a gift TD and the lead. (for a short time).
still smh.....years later
:smh::smh:

Some people don't like Classics but I agree, in some instances, a rivalry can grow if you find a way to add to it's importance. UAPB really has no SWAC rivalries. Developing some type of history with AAMU and Valley would be wise.

I'm not sure about that. UAPB it seems like came in this league (the 2nd time) with a chip on their shoulders for S.U. We have had triple OT games, fights and all kind of other mess. That S.U. vs UAPB rivalry may not be as high profile as with jsu, famu and Gram, but it is a piece of work. :smh:  :emlaugh:

That 97 triple OT game. MAN!

That tsutiger dude never tells the truth about how A&M owns them in the JMC, but he will tell you Tnsu beat us up in the 70's.....

MH, I'll never forget that either. It was my first time going to JSU. Crazy how the ref threw a flag for an obvious block in the back in front of him but picked it up. It was even worse how the fans cried after the game and some even threw rocks at the bus.

I don't know what it is but beside jsu, famu & Gram, it seems like UAPB is always gunning for S.U. and of course Alcorn too. :smh:  :emlaugh:

Right. UAPB took us to Double OT in 08 as well.

I would pay good money to know what the refs said to each other when they huddled up after the play and then waved off the flag and called a TD for Jsu.
:retard::retard::smh::smh:

Actually I feel more Hate for AAMU than Alabama State! Number wise (fans in the seats) it doesn't correlate but I just have this special good feeling after we defeat them in any Sport.

Right. UAPB took us to Double OT in 08 as well.

When I really think about it, most of the teams on our schedule really get up for us......It just seem like you say Southern University and they become possessed. I guess for a new coach like Odums, he must think, what the hell is going on? :  :emlaugh:

Dude quit that. Y'all won. That was not a block in the back.

Folk slashed Shannon's tires after one loss at Bama State.

Lol.

man imagine seeing the 'refs' in Jackson walk off the field..ball in hand while time left on the clock or something to that affect...

Po Pete

Valley and PB will never be a rivalry, nobody on campus even thinks about Valley enough to consider it. Trust me when I say this, no need to refute it.....

That 97 triple OT game. MAN!

Man I had left thought the game was out of reach Lol..all of a sudden walking by the mini dome on the way home...I heard this big ass Roar from the stadium...turned on Q106 and Henry Baptist and nem were going crazy...talking about OT, the 1st one LOL

Po me

I remember that! :emlaugh:

Man I had never seen anything like that Lol...smh..I was like this is some B.S...even some of the JSU fans was like "okkk"..Welp Ball game I guess

Man them cornballs cheated the whole night up there..

Why is that when playing Mississippi schools (cough JSU * Alcorn) SU have to play against the refs too..

IS this just us or do others SWAC schools experience the influence of the refs against Mississippi schools Lol

(no smack, being real)

LMAO

I didn't think we had rivals, teams just hate us for no reason. Anyway, my list for rivalries are :jsu- valley, it is like a Lil bro big brother hate. We can feel sorry for valley at times but for the most part we hate that "lil bro" always gets close to beating us. Jsu- Alcorn Idk why we hate Alcorn to be honest... but I look at them like I look at Valley. Jsu -tenn state we hate these mofos!!!! Every one else is not a rival to us. Bama- jsu is close to being one because we are typically #1 and #2 in the East.

I stayed the entire time. Was upset that I didn't get in the club for free but glad we got the win.
