Glad to see all those SWAC awards, especially from the colleges my girls attend. Kudos to JSU's Dr. Meyers; whenever I watch her conferences, she's always a class act!

We don't argue with such bands. We are SU. We are legendary Juke. We have had the best band program hands down in our conference. We built our legend without having to ride the coat tails of legendary coaches or teams. I don't even argue with folks not named FAMU when it comes to HBCU bands. Our resume is proof enough. The invites and accolades keep coming.

None of this is true but I'm not a band person. ..

Hey JR do you think stupid schools who are academically ineligible should be wasting millions of dollars on marching bands? We've seen them hump the ground a thousand times, there's nowhere left for them to go. Wouldn't that money be better spent educating the children

The su vs jsu band debate has been going on for years *who cares* nobody from jsu will say su has a good band, nobody from su will say jsu has a good band. Congrats to all swac award recipients especially THE Queen receiving female pres of the year

SU has never been known for musicianship.. that's why the traditionally couldn't play ballads.... just loud rap. Over the years, they tried to become more like JSU and added more woodwinds to improve their sound and ability to play various types of music well like the BOOM.

When I listen to JSU, I just hear a bunch of loud noise. See women rolling on the ground in the mud. :noidea:

This is what I have noticed. They used to have nothing BUT brass, a whole 4-5 rows of trumpets, bones etc. But like 10 flutes and clarinets lol so I used to boo them when they played neck because it was loud but the lack of wood winds made it seem like they were missing notes. Let me not get on them white commode looking tubas that they have half way changed. They have their style and we Def have ours is all I will say.

I have never heard su ppl say we were nothing but a loud band until in 2010 I sat on su side and watch jsu blow power on yall...I did not know we were that loud because I usually sit behind the boom. SU band heads still can't get over us blowing power by Kanye on yall.

The brass vs woodwind argument doesn't make sense. Ohio state has 0 woodwinds, Mich St only has brass and saxes. DCI has no woodwinds. I find it funny now though that jsu has dramatically increased the size of the brass section. Doesn't matter though. We'll continue to do our thing and let y'all play 2nd, 3rd, 4th fiddle as always

Whatever GR. You don't ever leave MS that much. So you would not know anyway. LOL. SU Band has always been praised globally. Ain't nothing new. Like I said, SU bandsmen never need to really argue with any HBCU bands outside of FAMU. That's how dominant and consistent we have been. All this humping the ground stuff is in your viewpoint. We have the good sense to know how to DRILL and MARCH and PLAY. We didn't get our reputation on Dance Routines. Nobody is spending money on band programs either. All of them have to get their hustle on to maintain. Ask folks in the Boom or Mr Taylor if JSU spending big money on his program.

As far as this academically ineligible BULL ISHT you spew. The kids who want to get educated at our HBCUs are getting done. Keeping athletes eligible ain't my concern. Either they want it or they don't. The only thing schools are doing is HOLDING these kids hands to make them go to class and participate. At the end of the day. Your jocks are no smarter than our jocks. You just had people walking and holding their hands to make sure they went to class and got their PE or whatever degree. Ain't like these athletes at our schools are all Math, Science or Engineering Majors. As great as JSU computer science dept is. I bet you don't have hardly any athletes on the football team in that major. Just like SU will not have a team full of Engineers nor PV nor AAMU. You will have some. But not a lot. Even then the coaches are complaining about the missed practices due to the academic schedules.

You better start listening to POP33. Athletes are treated like a COMMODITY at ALL our schools. White or Black. The PWCs just got more easy majors and people in place to make sure they slide by. But you call it educating. LOL. Oh well. That ain't the real world.

Different perspective. You'd probably see things differently if you weren't a JSU fan. Blowing Power (or any other song) real loud is not really that impressive if all you are is loud.

LOL. They got over that alright. But that has nothing to do with who has a better program overall and has had it for years and years even before Kanye West made one song.

Bands are not made from the Stands. That is some new school crap. If you suck on the field. You suck period. All this blowing in the stands does nothing but satisfy some egos in these bands. It is called MARCHING BAND for a reason. Anybody can be loud. Especially with numbers.

Do not make me post the clip from my Jr year of us playing Sweet Love by Anita Baker. Please don't make me do it. You been listening too much to the new school bands.
