FAMU Suspends Men’s Golf, Tennis

"Leader of Kings"
Florida A&M University today announced that it will suspend competition in men’s golf and men’s tennis, citing cost-saving efforts as the reason for the suspension.

“Clearly we would rather not have taken such action,” said FAMU Athletics Director Kellen Winslow. “However, our current fiscal situation makes it imperative for us to move in this direction. As we continue to support our student-athletes with scholarships in pursuit of their academic goals, we will continue to seek ways to return them to athletic competition.”

This sounds very familiar. Maybe they are following a certain SWAC school's lead on becoming a more self-sufficient athletic program.

Going over budget by $22k in 9 years is a lot better than going over budget by $8.4 million in the same time period.

We could easily get BH123 to raise $22k through his social night services.

:topic: I didn't want to bring this up, but (1) what's the origin of the bolded comment and (2) is BH123 really twerkin' it for the Ninth Ward? :happydance::read:

The only type of revenue I've seen BH123 so hell bent on generating is through legalized prostitution.

IMO, FAMU has done a lot better than most SWAC schools in the last 9 years. For instance, an $8.4 million deficit in 9 years is a lot better than a $10.4 million deficit during the same time period. Some folks really don't know how to interrupt what the numbers are really saying.

That's crazy, the largest HBCU, something just doesn't add up!

Shame on FAMU suspending men's tennis. They actually had a good program in the sport. Believe they have been ranked off and on in top 75.

TT, why don't you bring your concerns over to the MEAC board...you know, where some FAMU posters actually are

I only say this because you posted a topic, without the full context, two days ago on this very same board
