True to me they have the bet of both worlds they play most of the OOC against HBCU to appease their fan base and their conference games are against pretty good teams which has made them a force within their conference. I would love for JSU or any SWAC school to have it football wise like Tenn State. Now as far as everything else I think JSU is has a bigger advantage.

So JSU is planning to join the SWAC?

I would like to see the SWAC raise its conference fees to 2 millions dollars. Now if we do this we can solve a lot of issuses in the future. If you leave the conference, a school must pay the SWAC 5 million dollars. A raise in conference fees, will eliminate who can do what in the future.

MD what the hell are you smoking this morning? :lmao:

We would have twenty million dollars a year to create an outstanding conference. If we hold spending to the current rate by the SWAC Office, we could create about 50 million dollars over the next three years. We can set up grants for those schools who need help once they pay the 2 millions.

Oh I'm with you on it, but what you're asking is for the Presidents of our schools to think outside the box.

I still can't understand why our schools that have great coaches don't include a buyout clause in their contracts

Which is why they won their last conference championship 15 years ago?

They are still a force in in their conference. JSU has only one won one SWAC title in 15 years but we are a STRONG force in our conference and the most consistent program in the conference in the last 15 years. So there is no correlation between championships and being a force.

I agree.

So basically you strong forces have 1 champions apiece in 15 years or an aggregation of 2 championship with 30 attempted years between you all. You guys are ruling your respective conferences with an iron fist. :emlaugh:

:weee:

It's funny that during this so-called rule the Bama's have shared the eastern title at least ten times and won it out right twice between the two of them. Yep an Iron fist alright.

They are still one of the better teams in their conference which at any rate is overall better than the SWAC and also a team that Southern cannot beat...proved by the 12-27 record u guys have against them.

In other words, JSU needs to join the SLC but still play Southern, Tenn. State, Alcorn and Valley.

You say that like its a bad thing...surely the SLC has to be better than the SWAC considering how over half the schools in the conference has APR issues. Why not venture to a better conference....Love it when u guys start talking about other conference while defending the stupidity of the SWAC...:emlaugh:

We could not beat them in the 60s and 70s. SU was 1-17 vs them from 64-83 which a lot of folks took ass whoopings from Big John Merritt even JSU. WC Gorden a Tn State grad used to get grief from JSU fans when he didn't beat his alma mater. I remember those days sitting in the stands in Memorial hearing all my Dad's buddies cussing about it. LOL.

From my Freshman year of 1984 at SU until now. We are 6-5-2 against Tn State. The last 5 meetings SU is 3-2 against them. So we ain't been getting whooped like talking about. Not like the old days. No doubt they have had most of the SWAC's number when playing them.

They have only had 6 winning seasons over that same 15 years ya'll claim they became a "force". Also, SU has as many wins (2) against TSU as JSU does over the past decade or so, and we've only played them 4 times over that period.

The SLC has 3 schools with APR issues. The SWAC has 5.

Actually TP our record is W 4 L 4 T 1 since they have been a member of the better OVC.

JSU record is W 12 L 12 T 1 in that same time frame.

Within the last decade SU record has been W 3 L 2 T 0

While JSU record in that same time frame has been W 2 L 8 T 0

I don't see Tenn State coming. Still not seeing the benefit of Langston or Skegee. I actually think the SWAC should keep the same schools for right now.
