I'm saying both of us are better situated to handle this new rule, due to having the highest admission standards in the SWAC, and our coaches already have action plans for recruiting better academically prepared athletes

Highest admission in the SWAC? You might want to check other SWAC schools admission standards first.

No more hold backs?

I fee that the responsibility need to be on us the parents! I watched the Army East/West All-Star Game and almost every black that don a hat, said they went to the school because they felt comfortable with the coaches and the program, you barley heard anything about I am going to this school because it is a great academic school and it has the major he is looking for. My son plays high school soccer and ran cross country and he knew that no grades, means no play, period! Even though he wants to play in college, he is looking at schools for academics and to make sure it has the major he wants to pursue, even if it means he do not play in college. They know our blacks will get caught up in the lights and not look at the bigger picture, which even some of our high school coaches do not help us with , so it is up to us parents to make sure our children are taken care of.

Now as for this rule, HBCU's better make sure our houses are taken care of.

No because WE will accept a student who completed all 16 courses at the rime of graduation, regardless of when they completed them. A student could actually go into their SR year with 5 core course credits, finish the rest between the start of their SR year and the start of the following fall semester at SU or GSU, and still get admitted academically, but not meet this NCAA requirement.

Also, Admissions also only requires the OVERALL GPA meet a certain level, not specifically the core courses. You could have a 2.5 overall but a 1.9 in the core courses and not meet NCAA eligibility standards.

BTW, I think Texas Southern has the highest admissions standards (GPA+ACT) in the SWAC now.

Is it just me or are these knuckles heads just sitting on their butts making rules without thinking about the bigger picture?

Worse than that or are they actually thinking?

1. I think that is the case.

2. Then again they are probably not.

I will say that even if a few gave them the benefit of the doubt and say that they might actually care about academics (or as I believe putting up the front of caring), that even as we speak the big schools have or will come up with a plan to already get around this. Heck I can see some of these big schools "helping' some of the academic advisers at the high schools of these 4-5 star athletes to pass (heck at places like South Panola they'll do it just to keep winning at the HS level). Plus I'm sure if places like Alabama are redshirting 5 stars, that year of not being on the field will let them kind of focus on academics anyway.

It would not surprise me.
