Everyone knew that was coming. LOL. Nothing new here. It is inside so they will be warm. Now Minneapolis in February will be brutal. LOL. Plenty of stuff to do though. Weather don't stop them folks in the MSP.

This has put the State in the position to start looking at replacing the Superdome. IMO, the best location for a new stadium would be along the riverfront just south of the convention center. That would be a perfect location near everything in the downtown area.

The state is in no position to be trying to build a new stadium. They better stick with the Superdome until the financial picture of the state improves. Can't be forcing schools to make cuts , but in the same breath find money to fund a new stadium for a sports team. You will have a huge riot over that.

Yep and personally I put the Super Dome in the same category as Lambeau, Wrigley, ect. It's a landmark.

I'm not speaking of anything in the immediate future, but I do see this as a means of putting the wheels in motion to replace the Superdome in the next 5 to 10 years. In today's current market value, new stadiums are costing right at $1 billion dollars. In the next 5 to 10 years, new stadium should cost at least $1.5 billion dollars. Since Louisiana, particular New Orleans count a lot on tourism as one of its major economic engines, the State would have to work the numbers to see the cost benefit in spending money to increase and maintain the existing tourist level. The State can't afford to lose too many major events to other cities just because the Super Dome has gotten too old and outdated, such as Sugar Bowl, NCAA Final Four, and the Essence Fest. Plus, by placing the replacement stadium off the river front, that would put a NFL stadium closer to the convention center and other major downtown attractions (Canal Street, Bourbon Street, French Market, Casino, etc.), which would economically impact those areas a lot more. The current site of the Superdome can be turn into hotels and a mall shopping center or a major league baseball stadium; just in case the State thinks it has a chance of landing a major league baseball team in the next 10 to 15 years. If that becomes the future plan, I hope the State waste no time in finding a major sponsor to purchase the naming rights on the new stadium. The State lost millions of dollars by not allowing a company to purchase the naming rights on the Superdome until it was at least 35 years old. The money from naming rights can at least pay the operational and maintenance cost of the stadium.

Plus Green Bay, the last time I checked, is a lot smaller than Jackson (they've mentioned this a few times on TV). They don't have the hotels required to host a Super Bowl. They would have to have a World Cup-type expansion to their infrastructure to even be considered and even then, I think once the NFL experiences its first major blizzard during a outside Super Bowl (which probably will be either in New York or Chicago) that will eliminate them

I think Green Bay is the smallest city with a NFL team. Lafayette, LA has a larger population then Green Bay, but the Packers has a medium size media market since it covers Milwaukee, WI.

If you say so, but the NFL is moving in the direction of all NFL franchises having new stadiums. Los Angeles is the second largest media market in the country and would be perfect to host Super Bowls, but just because they haven't built a new stadium in almost 100 years, the NFL has basically stayed away from L.A. by not awarding the city a new NFL franchise. If cities like L.A., New Orleans, and Miami built new stadiums, cities like Atlanta and Dallas would be one hit Super Bowl cities. Cities like Atlanta and Dallas are not setup for a fun filled week leading up to Super Bowl, basically there's nothing else to do in those cities but attend the game.

LOL. The only outdoor stadium in cold weather to see a SB is New York/NJ Meadowlands. Green Bay and Chicago no matter how historic will never host a SB with those outdoor stadiums. Plus the TOWN of Green Bay could not handle the SB crowd anyway. LOL. Nothing to do there AT ALL.

Yep. It can be a fun city. Those folks can kick it. Especially for something like the Super Bowl. You can travel from building to building in downtown Minneapolis without even getting in the elements.

Yeah they will get a SB again. This was no knock on New Orleans and the Dome. New Orleans has been voted on many times as the favorite place of the media and NFL people to host a Super Bowl. They love it there. Minneapolis was pretty much promised this a long time ago when they started talking New Stadium when Tags was coming to visit the politicians in Minnesota before he retired and Goodell has followed up. As soon as San Diego can get one, they will be back in the mix. I would imagine now that San Fran is moving into a new one in Santa Clara where they practice. They will get a SB soon too. Just a way for the NFL to reward those cities and states for building a new facility. Detroit and Indy got Super Bowls when they got their new stadiums. As long as you are not a cold weather out door stadium NFL city not named NYC. Then you will have an opportunity to host a SB.

Santa Clara has the one in 2016 I believe.

yeah.. that's sorta how we started the discussion. The Nupes were there for our convention a few years ago and we were talking about the connected building throughout downtown. She said that the university has underground tunnels.
