I mean damn, can those worthless azz sports franchises win something. It started with the Braves of the 90s choking away all those great seasons in the playoffs. Then came the Falcons and their savior Matty Ice choking away playoff games at home. Now these sorry azz Hawks choking away this series against the Pacers.
 
How much did you ever really expect from the Hawks to begin with? They finished under .500. The only real choke job you can hang on the Hawks is that 1994 squad that was the No.1 seed and got bounced. Other than that, they've been consistently average.

Yes, I knew that, but those Braves' team totally underachieve. They had arguably the best starting rotation in the history of baseball and could only muster one WS.

Wait, what? Can someone translate this to me? They underachieved even though they won the World Series?
 
The only WS the Braves should have won that they didn't was in 1996 against the Yankees. ATL was the better team heading into that series.

I actually thought they upset Cleveland in the 95 WS. That Tribe team was loaded.

The 1993 team was the best of them all, and they got bounced by the Phillies in the NLCS.

Them losing to the Padres in the 1998 NLCS was probably the biggest disappointment of that era. SD wasn't good. Their best pitcher was Sterling Hitchcock for goodness sakes.

Some would say they should have beaten the Marlins in 97, but Miami was loaded, too.

I think ATL lost in the WS and in the postseason to simply the better team except that Padres squad and the 96 Bombers.
 
The real choke would have been if Indiana lost to Atlanta. This should not have gone seven, and I say this as a Hawks fan.

Right Indiana should have that series in 5. And I still remember Jim Leritz hitting that bomb dead centerfield in the 96 WS...:smh:

From 1991-2005, the Atlanta Braves won 14 Division Titles, 5 NL Pennants ( 5 World Series Appearances) and won only 1 Championship. If that isn't choking than what is?

Other than losing to the Yankees in the '96 WS, who should have they beaten in all those other WS?

And if they had made it to the '93 WS, the Blue Jays would probably had beat them as well. That Jays team was a machine with HOFers and All-Stars on it.

And if the Expos had kept that '94 team together, Atlanta doesn't see the postseason for a good while.

I think Tony Romo has the whole City of Atlanta beat as the biggest choke artist, but Matty Ice is not far behind. Just google the words "choke artist". :emlaugh:

Name me one pitching staff that was better during that time? The Braves had 6 Cy Young winners in the 90s.

I totally agree with you, but this isn't about Romo. It's about every sports franchise in Atlanta.

Man please...pitching usually dominates the playoffs and WS. That's why most teams shorten their rotations from 5-3. The fouth and fifth starters usually pitch in relief efforts.
