Clipper's owner Donald Sterling receives lifetime ban

As for this "lifetime Ban", big deal.
Until he has NOTHING to do with that team as a owner, it don't mean shat. One of the worst teams in the NBA, Milwalkie or Minnesota, sold for $550 million. This dude can just sell the team for $800 to $1 billion for everything and tell people to kiss his azz. He bought the team from San Diego for only $15 million in 1981. :smh:

All he has to do is let his ex-wife run the team and he still in the mix. They still run their empire together even though they not married anymore. This ban amounts to nothing while his hands are still on the team. All he got to do is sit back and collect his check.

Did you even listen to the Commissioner?

The crossover ripple effect from the racially insensitive comments from Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and the way the NBA handled the situation predictably drew reaction from other athletes in other sports.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling from anything having to do with the league for life, fined Sterling $2.5 million and currently leads the charge for the owners to force Sterling to sell the Clippers.

It's where the crossover effect could affect perception from the players for the New Orleans Saints.

Pelicans and Saints owner Tom Benson sent his message Tuesday afternoon saying in a statement, "In light of the serious matter facing our league, a matter that transcends sports, the New Orleans Pelicans fully support the decisions made today by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and will fully support his recommendations moving forward.''

NBA team owners applaud Adam Silver's decision

Other teams have now begun issuing statements:

Los Angeles Clippers:

“We wholeheartedly support and embrace the decision by the NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver today. Now the healing process begins.â€￾

Orlando Magic:

“The Orlando Magic feel the recent reprehensible comments by Donald Sterling were absolutely unacceptable and do not reflect the values and beliefs of our organization or our league. We applaud the leadership of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, as well as Head Coach Doc Rivers and his players, who are at the epicenter of the situation.â€￾

James Dolan, owner of Knicks:

“I have been in touch with the NBA and fully support Commissioner Silver’s decision. I applaud Adam for acting quickly and decisively in appropriately addressing these disgusting and offensive comments. This kind of behavior has no place in basketball, or anywhere else, and we as a league must stand together in condemning this ignorance.â€￾

Greg Miller, CEO of ownership group of the Utah Jazz:

“On behalf of the Miller family, we support the decisive action by Commissioner Silver and the NBA to reaffirm that there is no place for racism and hatred in our league. The Jazz organization and all the teams in the NBA should act as national leaders in promoting inclusiveness and diversity. We have a responsibility in our communities to fight against discrimination and ignorance and showcase sports as an example of respect and tolerance. While this situation has been inexcusable, I hope it serves the greater purpose of reinforcing our vigilance against this type of behavior.â€￾

Bruce Levenson, Atlanta Hawks majority owner:

“I commend Commissioner Adam Silver in being diligent in how he handled this important matter. He acted swiftly and appropriately with the severity of the penalty and I strongly support his decision.â€￾

Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, Toronto Raptors:

“As a proud member of the National Basketball Association, we stand strongly in our belief that the comments attributed to Mr. Sterling have no place in our society or sport. Our organization will always work to contribute to a culture of diversity and acceptance in this league and fully support the actions taken today. We thank Commissioner Adam Silver, and all of the NBA players, for their leadership on this important issue.â€￾

Joe Lacob, Golden State Warriors Co-Owner & CEO:

“We applaud the firm punishment handed out today by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and appreciate the swiftness with which the NBA conducted its investigation. Similarly, we anticipate that the NBA Board of Governors will act promptly to put this chapter behind us. As I noted on Sunday, the sentiments expressed on the audio recording were completely inappropriate, unacceptable and senseless. We cannot tolerate such feelings or beliefs, not only in the NBA, but in society in general. There is absolutely no room for racism in our world, period.â€￾

Tom Gores, Pistons owner:

“I am proud of Adam Silver for providing the leadership and strength necessary in this situation. He has my full support.â€￾

Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and Chicago Bulls president and COO Michael Reindorf:

“We completely support Commissioner Silver’s decision today regarding Clippers owner Donald Sterling, and praise him for his prompt investigation and action. The Commissioner was correct to ban Mr. Sterling from all official NBA business, to levy the stiffest allowable fine, and we will support his recommendation to press for Mr. Sterling to relinquish his ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers franchise. We believe Commissioner Silver’s decision reflects the best interests of the NBA and public civility.

The league’s decision underscores the severity and reprehensible nature of the comments attributed to Donald Sterling. These comments in no way reflect the attitude, values, and culture of the Bulls and White Sox organizations. This behavior cannot be tolerated in any form.

Discrimination and prejudice of any kind have no place in sports or in our society.â€￾

Paul Allen, Trail Blazers owner:

“I completely support NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s decisive action on the Sterling issue. He exhibited great leadership, and the league is in good hands.â€￾

Herb Simon, Indiana Pacers owner:

“I wholeheartedly endorse Commissioner Adam Silver’s swift, strong and decisive action with regard to Donald Sterling. These past days have been both sad and disturbing for the NBA family. It is our responsibility to continue as models of the diversity and inclusion the NBA has long and justly represented.â€￾

Clay Bennett, Oklahoma City Thunder Chairman:

“The Oklahoma City Thunder strongly supports the decisive action taken today by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Ours is a league of inclusion, tolerance and fairness. The Thunder organization will continue to work to foster the tenets of diversity and respect, and build on that standard moving forward.â€￾

Herb Kohl, Milwaukee Bucks owner:

“We denounce the offensive, racist comments made by Mr. Sterling, and we stand with the actions Commissioner Silver has taken against him.â€￾

Josh Kroenke, Denver Nuggets President & Governor:

“Kroenke Sports & Entertainment and the Denver Nuggets wholeheartedly and emphatically support Commissioner Adam Silver’s decision that Donald Sterling be fined and banned for life from any involvement with the National Basketball Association. Mr. Sterling’s words have absolutely no place in our working family or in a global sport that values inclusion, diversity and tolerance of people regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation.â€￾

Michael Jordan, Bobcats chairman

“I applaud NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s swift and decisive response today. He sent a powerful message that there can be zero tolerance for racism and hatred in the NBA. I’m confident that the league, our players and our fans will move on from this stronger and more unified.â€￾

Jeannie Buss, Lakers president

“In my statement yesterday, I said I had full confidence in Adam Silver and how he and the NBA would handle this situation. In today’s announcement, Adam was decisive, firm and compelling and showed great leadership in his condemnation of the horrible and offensive comments that have led to this action.â€￾

Ted Leonsis, Chairman of Monumental Sports Ownership Group, Washington Wizards

“Monumental Sports & Entertainment has a diverse ownership group, and we respect and value that diversity. Our group applauds the swift, strict actions and recommendations set forth today by NBA commissioner Adam Sliver. Commissioner Silver is taking a strong stance, but all of us need to play a role as we strive to eliminate discrimination and intolerance.â€￾

His ex wife? They are still married frat. She about to take his arse to the cleaners after 57 years. This ban prohibits him from doing business with the other NBA owners on stuff. He can't even go the Clippers office. He is done frat and if he does sell, guess who is about to get HALF. Where is CT when you need her. Sterling's wife is going to take him down as well. He may need to sell the team to pay her arse off. Ain't nothing he can do about being married 57 years without paying out the arse in California. She gets half and sells her half of the team, then what can he do? Sterling is fugged. The NBA other owners are booting him off the Island. He is probably holding them up on deals to make more money as a league because he is such an A-hole. Only thing he got going for him is that he is 81 years old and has enough money to do what he want outside the NBA until he dies. But his NBA days are numbered. He will get his money on the sell of the team but he got to deal with his wife who was already trying to sue his girlfriend from getting in his pocket. Sterling probably going to end up dead from all the stress this is going to cause him.

No one was ever going to riot. The Sterling situation has nothing to do with rank and file Black folks. The NBA players were upset because Magic Johnson and Matt Kemp were targeted by Sterling's vitriol. I read an article on ESPN where a reporter said he was talking to Mark Jackson back when played for the Clippers and he said Jackson said to him he'd heard about the Sterling's housing discrimination cases and he told the reporter "What can I do about that?" The NBA players back then and currently aren't concerned about poor Blacks or the masses of Black folks. Those NBA players had their pride hurt because they received a "N____er wakeup call" from Sterling. The NBA players just used Sterling's housing discrimination cases and Elgin Baylor's case to bolster their cause. That's all. The NBA players and the NBPA should be ashamed as well for not standing with Elgin Baylor. That's a damn shame.

Also, if a NBA player had settled a legal case that reflected badly upon the NBA he would be fined and/or suspended. David Stern straight up dropped the ball by not punishing Sterling for his settlement of his two housing discrimination cases. So, while this was the correct decision to ban Sterling for life, I'm not impressed with Silver nor the players.

If she divorces him it's about her getting her 50% of the team. But, Collis Temple Jr. said yesterday on the Jim Engster show yesterday that Sterling would sit between his woman and his wife. For all we know these people could be swingers. Furthermore, Sterling has a history of having other women. His wife isn't leaving unless they're trying to use that as a maneuver to keep at least half of the team.

yep.
What part of what I said say I didn't. I heard everything he said. His ex-wife is not part of that lifetime ban. Although she don't "run" the Clippers, she has done work for them in various positions. His son in law is also a high ranking exec with the clippers also.

Like I said, this ban means nothing to this fool. If that team go on the market, who do you think the final sale check is going to. Please answer.

Sterling can be voted out. But, his ass will get a windfall. I'm thinking he or his family (if he dies soon) won't lose control of the team anytime soon because they're going to tie up the NBA and any forced sale in litigation for years.

I know all this. They still married but "estranged" or separated.
Whatever rich mofos do in a understanding like that.

As for her taking him to the cleaners, she already has half of the empire that includes way more shat than the Clippers. She has been basically running a lot of it already. Half of a probably $700 to $800 million sale is a hell of a lot more than the $15 million he paid for it. This old fugg face mofo don't GAS about being banned. It has already been reported that he never visited the players locker room and never showed up at the Staples center until game time anyway.

If he gave a shat about his wife taking him to the cleaners, he would not be running around with his DJango GF in public. Did you see the shat listed that is public knowledge of what he has given her already in her name? That big house house those Tv cameras are parked in front of, a Farrari, 2 Bentles, a Range Rover, and a hell of a bank account that he make deposits into for her. His wife, ex-wife, partner in swinging, whatever the heck she is has known about this all the time. His girlfriend already got hers.

You honestly think that 80 year old fossel care about how much his wife will get? She already got it.

I forget a lot of you just like to argue to be disagreeable.

Him making money from his investment has nothing to do with the punishment and no one from the NBA or other wise ever said that was the intent. (That's some peda Michael Vick extreme pet lovers ignorant type of isht)

You don't see shat but your own post no matter what a person say so why don't you make the post and then answer all the questions the way you want them answered from now on and save people a lot of wasted time.

Besides.
It was your IGNANT AZZ that quoted me when the jist of my post was that ban don't mean shat to HIM.....STERLING. Learn to comprehend before you try to be so dam smart and righteous all the dam time. The only person arguing on this mofo is yo IGNANT azz. I don't GAS one way or the other.

They ain't going to be able to tie up the NBA. Plus the wife don't care as long as she get her money. That team is getting sold simple as that. The owners collectively have more power and loot than Sterling. Plus they got all them NBA sponsors backing their play. Sterling is done. Them Republican owners going to get the courts to back them over him. Sterling will get whatever the sell price of the team is. The bad thing is, the value of the team has just went down because of all this when you lose sponsorship and stuff. So he will get paid. But not what he would have a month ago. The NBA is about to run all their lawyers at him with full force. You best believe those owners done told the Commish don't worry we got your back on this one. Hell he is probably keeping the other owners from being more progressive on generating more revenue for all the teams.

The Benson family has realized how much support they have received from the Black community over the years. Unlike some NFL franchises that I will not say their name, we supported the SAINTS when they were still the only team that never made the playoffs. Good thing we won't be holding the title as being the only that never won a Superbowl.

Sterling's NBA goose is cooked.........

I think the NBA had plans to remove his azz anyway. A net worth of $2 billion is a lot of money, but there are investors with a lot more. The NBA couldn't see itself moving forward with owners like Donald Sterling and his plantation ran organization.

What gives you the idea that the NBA had plans to remove him? Heck Stern rewarded him when he blocked Chris Paul from going to the Lakers. Instead he went to the Clippers.
Plus Stern never posed any sanctions against Sterling for his past behaviors. It's like Stern protected him.

Like Jrock told another one of your colleagues, did you hear or read the harsh punishment issued by Adams Silver in the news conference. Now the owners are lining up to boot his azz. That news is only shocking if you are one of those naïve individuals that don't believe the NBA might already had a plan in place to remove him.

Sterling is one of those FOX News type Jewish people that use the divide and conquer theory as a means to make his money, which those days are coming to an end.

Dude, the NBA had several opportunities to make a statement under Stern and it didn't. The only reason other owners are doing it now is because they don't want to be associated with racism or looked at as aligning themselves with Sterling in no form or fashion for fear of losing sponsors.
Name one time Stern or any of the owners stood up publicly against Sterling before the recordings came out.
