It appears Texas Southern head coach Mike Davis is moving on.

A source with knowledge of the situation indicates Davis, who led the Tigers to this year’s NCAA Tournament, is expected to accept the vacant job at Jacksonville University.

Max Edison, sports editor at the Houston Defender covering the Final Four this week just outside of Dallas, reported Saturday via Twitter that Davis will be the next Jacksonville coach.

What happened to James Green? I thought he was head coach at Jacksonville State Univ. He came from MVSU.

Two different schools. You have the Jacksonville Dolphins in Florida, and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in Alabama. Jacksonville is actually a smaller school than Texas Southern, but they probably have more $$$.

Jacksonville University is a private university with 3741 students. Actually our endowment is larger than Jacksonville U., as of 2012.

You look at the potential losses as Harvey's talent is all gone except Gibbs...the freshman class looks to be years away and Murray was a one year fill in....if true, ray Charles could see this coming

He obviously wants to coach higher and this says to him he can't get higher out the SWAC but you can out the ASUN....and with Uh making a popular basketball hire things change....

But TSU is a hoops school so if its true what does Jacksonville really offer?

Jacksonville rumor Part II...

Apparently the situation at Jacksonville is really heating up! I reported earlier that I had heard Texas Southern's Mike Davis was the leader. This still may be the case, but there is a very strong 1A in the mix. A separate source has confirmed to me that IPFW head coach Tony Jasick heavily involved here as well. Jasick has spent the past three seasons at IPFW (52-47). At this point, all indications are that it's a two horse race and it's neck and neck down the stretch...

Roman Banks?

I was told that Southeastern La. might be interested in him for their vacant position.

Just asking.

Please, that would be a step backwards and less pay. Also keep in mind his son will be going into his Sophomore year at SU. If he is going to leave, it is going to be for bigger school.

Yeah SE doesn't give him much to work with. I think he would wait it out for a nicer gig than SE LA. Somewhere like ULL I can see. But SE is not a prime spot to leave SU for. Now if they were smart, they would go after his brother Carlos at Scotlandville. I am assuming if and when Banks leaves, Carlos would want to come to SU to coach. But for now, Banks can do the same thing at SU as he can at SE. Actually more. Just got to get his paperwork isht behind us to help him out.

The Roman Banks to SLU is a pretty hot rumor right now...

• Odd situation surrounding a SWAC school. Look for some type of announcement in the next few days, but very odd…will give more here when I am given the green light.

BTW, I asked Kenn about it the other day, particularly when I saw this from Hoop Dirt... I still think Roman Banks can win at the mid-major level and make some noise in the right position. He showed what he could do at Southern. I do think SLU is not in the same position in the SLC as Southern is in the SWAC from a resources, fan base point of view. Southern is much better positioned within the SWAC than SLU is within the Southland.

Where? To TxSU?

Yeah, just putting the possibility of it out there. As for the possibility of Banks going to SLU, I was told the chance of that happening are not likely considering that they would not be willing to pay Banks more than he makes now.

Yeah I don't see it happening especially with his kid at SU.
