The swac was horrid...that 8-0 looked real good until I realized that our squad was nowhere near as good as past years squads. Everybody else was just sorry. I wonder what all the new hires will do this year. The schools that upgraded just might start something....

We didn't have a good defense last year. ... neither did ya'll. .. we made changes.. ya'll didn't. Oh well.

Even PV made changes. PV gonna wear ya'll out. Seriously (thanks MH)

How do you know we didn't make changes? Hiring a coach doesn't mean the players will do better. I hope you know that. Continuity does account for something. Man you have no clue at all do you TP. PV better hope they can find some BIGGER players that fit Yoshida's system like he had at Gram and SU. That's their problem on defense. They are too damn small. Their offense will carry them again. Which they will definitely be potent.

Just sit back and watch TP. Worry about what old man Harold and the new coaches will do. Too early to make predictions.

JR, I am NOT hating on SU. If Dray was coming back, I would agree with you about continuity but what you are going to see is a continuation of poorly coached football. You all won 5-6 games last year simply because of your QB leadership. It's not too early to make predictions becasue we are going on what we see right now. What is SU going to do about their defense? Ya'll act like that defense was not BAD. It was bad. Really bad. PV does not even need a good defense to beat ya'll because that early in the season, you won't have a good offense and you won't have a good defense either. But what PV will have is a good offense and your defense won't be able to handle them. SU simply has too many tough games to start the season. It's almost IMPOSSIBLE for ya'll not to start the season off at 0-4 (ULL, Alcorn, NWState, PV). Your next 4 games should be no worse than 2-2 (Fort Valley, AAMU, JSU, UAPB). I just can't see your coaches matching up to those at AAMU or Jackson State. Your November schedule is favorable and you could come out of November at 4-0 (BAMA State, TxSo, Valley, Grambling) but I wouldn't be the farm on that either becasue BAMA State should be the early favorite to win the SWAC but they seem to find a way to lose to SU.....TxSo, Valley and Grambling won't be laying down. However, I do think SU is better than those programs at this point. Since I saw your schedule, I have been saying SU would go 6-6 AT BEST. ..and I would NEVER count the SU game a W for JSU.. becasue I know SU is going to play up for JSU. I expect a great game in Jackson.

As for worrying about the old man... Yes, we are in wait and see mode in Jackson but as bad as our OC and DC were last year, we can't do much worse. ..and this time, we have a Jacksonian running the ship. He won't let us lose. He will step down first.

Nope. Some do. But TP is just being TP. LOL. We will have to prove it on the field. That's why they play the games.

But if anyone was really paying serious attention to WHO was doing what for SU last season then they would not be saying we have nothing coming back. Hell Doss wasn't even the leading WR in the SCG. The last few games he got out shined by the youngsters.

Yeah, TP is on his own planet where he is the Wizard of Oz. :emlaugh: He has declared last year to be a down year (right after they succumbed in the SCG). :emlaugh:

Whateva JRock...

We complained ALL season in the DEN. We were never fooled by beating the sorry teams we beat. The fact that we didn't blow SU out in BR was immediate cause for concern. ALL we had to do in BR was run the ball.. and your whole team would have quit by the 4th quarter.

You guys weren't even the best team in the SWAC east. Do I need to remind you of that bushwhacking Alcorn put on you all? :emlaugh:

Do I need to remind you that Alcorn was #3 in the EAST? ...and they only beat us AFTER the game meant nothing. On the other hand, they whooped ya'll mid-season. Alcorn couldn't even beat AlaState in the mid-season. But just like ya'll, Alcorn gonna see too. They will fight for 3rd place with AAMU.

Outside of the dilapidated Grambling team Southern only defeated one conference team (Valley - 10) by more than a TD last season... :read: One turnover here or there and it's a different story.

Well.. to their credit, they did give UAPB a late TD to make it look respectable but everyone else.. they struggled!

I said we were the best team in the conference... we didn't need a good defense to accomplish that...esp in a conference where there was not ONE good defense.

Personal Goal for me to the team

SU to go undefeated at home this year....

Well, your goal will be lost after the first home game. NWState gonna break ya'll off again. The rest of your home games are winnable... UAPB, Fort Valley, AlaState, TxSo, and Valley. BAMA State poses a threat and I see the Valley and TxSo games being tough. You have some of your tougher games on the road (Jackson State, PV, AAMU and Alcorn)... that's likely 4 L's

I think you may be right, but we actually played better on the road last year, matter of fact, I think we went undefeated on the road in SWAC....which was a plus for us,

So we can lose that 1, I guess (it will be a good game and the team will be ready) but I see only 1 lost on our schedule and that's against AAMU

And if PV defense would have given up 4 less TDs per game, they make it to Houston .

JSU had the best talent over the last two years at least, but the coaches couldn't put it together. That's the only reason su won....the ONLY reason.
Same thing happened in 2012 against PB when that long TD was made to win the game. Now all that's changed. We have talent and better coaching.

su's road schedule wasn't much to write home about, so that's not saying much.

You are hoping that we lose all those games. What is with the hate? You have spent more time talking about our team for this year than what Harold Jackson and his fellow retirement home counterparts are fielding in Jackson. :smh:

No argument here that the toughest on the road was Bama state but at the end of the day, only one team came away champions in December. last season is done. :smh:

Fellow retirement? Apart from Jackson, nobody's close to 60.
