Auburn hires Bruce Pearl

I am surprised he took that one win there will be more prominent spots open next year.

If he is successful next year... Anthony Grant is GONE at Bama.... Bama fans are mad because they wanted Pearl this year but the AD gave his full support of Anthony Grant.

It has seemed like for the past couple of years Bama has been on the cusp of making the Big Dance but then they ended up with 19-20 wins and a sub 5oo SEC record. Maybe next year...

Pearl will have Auburn in the Big Dance within a year or two...

Auburn and Alabama fans are fighting each other over the hire. It does not have be football for them to fight.

And then they're gonna be immediately placed on probation.

Folks have to remember, Tennessee wasn't a horrible program when Pearl took them over. Jerry Green in the late 90s was 89-36 at Tennessee and went to the tournament for 4 straight seasons before being forced out. Buzz Peterson brought them down a bit, but they still had talent on the team. A lot of the better jobs wouldn't want to risk hiring Pearl, because they know the NCAA will have a mega-sized microscope on their program with him as the coach. Auburn is at the point where they needed to make a risky hire, and here it is. The SEC isn't a tough league at all once you get past Florida and Kentucky.

Dave Didion was lead investigator on Pearl's case, he is now the assistant AD of compliance. He signed off on this hire he knows more about Pearl did then anybody in the NCAA. This wasnt a risky hire more of a slam dunk hire that will rejuvenate the Auburn Basketball fanbase. He is buying the ENTIRE SCHOOL Pizza tonight...:smh: wow..they are rolling out the red carpet. He will deliver.

The smartest thing Auburn did was hire Dave Didion..u guys do not understand how good it is to have a connect with the NCAA as an Athletic Dept.

Good info. I agree with you.

6 year contract .... 2.2 million a year. 3rd highest contract in the conference behind Kentucky and Florida. Auburn is putting a big investment in basketball.

If pearl signs St. Jude's Tommy Burton and Bibb County's Daniel Purifoy Auburn will contend for a conference championship in 2 years. They are two of the top juniors in the country.

It will take more than those 2.... They will need a big time name like Josh Langford from Madison Academy.....he is strongly considering Duke though. He averaged 25 as a 8th grader and is one of the top 10th graders in the nation.

Dahill, have you seen Purifoy play? He has offers from KY, Duke, NC, AL, GA, and others. Langford is a stud and everyone wants him. Burton is a 6'8" 2 or 3 with skills.

you know how I feel about basketball players from small country schools lol. Im not saying they can't be great .... but Chris Porter and the Persons were RARE exceptions. Two freshmen in the state to watch out for is 6'5 guard John Petty from J.O. Johnson in Huntsville and Jamal Johnson (son of Buck Johnson) at Sparkman High.... John Petty led Johnson to the 4a championship game and Jamal was all everything for Sparkman.

Hill, take it from me Purifoy is the real deal. If you get a chance check him out. He plays for the ATL Celtics AAU team. The key for Grant and Pearl is keeping these players in state. I thought UAB had this year's best recruiting class. The big 7'2" white kid that signed with Purdue has the biggest upside.

I mean outside of Florida and Kentucky, it's not like you have a ton of competition. lol
