2014 Jackson State football schedule

Re: JSU 2014 Football Schedule

What the hell are you talking about? The original question I asked was trying to get an understanding of JSU's AD mindset on the homecoming game from a financial view.

I think it's the best financial situation. Valley SHOULD be a "go to" game but it's not. Maybe making it homecoming will maximize the attendance. I think Valley is a good choice. Hopefully we can get 40K in there. Ya'll were homecoming two years ago and we only drew 22K. Any team could have helped us draw that.

Alumni coming in would rather see a city full of people and a game they actually want to attend. How many JSU Alumni would be happy playing Virginia Lynchburg for homecoming?

As for scheduling Valley, why not?
In state "rival", guaranteed a large crowd because Itta bena will empty out and be in Jackson even if it was not homecoming, but when you throw those JSU homecomming ticket buying numbers in, JSU looking at a homecoming attendance of 30,000 to 35,000 if not more with Comegy coming back to town. Packed game, packed campus, packed parties all over Jackson for 3 days.

General Admission is $30 so that adds up to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. This is smart business so don't get mad at JSU for making you homecoming bait. Last thing the AD probably looked at is it's Valley.

JSU............63-5-1.

Alcorn holding on to that win like they haven't been getting drugged the last 15 years :lmao:

Re: JSU 2014 Football Schedule

I want to make a bet!!! I bet alcorn won't win a scg within the next 5 years....nah that is a lopsided bet let me start over. I bet alcorn won't see a scg within the next five years.

Re: JSU 2014 Football Schedule

I just hope they don't embarrass JSU like those Green Okra folks did from the Delta......................

Re: JSU 2014 Football Schedule

If I was Vivian I would schedule VUL, because you don't know how strong FAMU TSU and GSU will start the year. 1-3 sounds better than 0-4, and if JSU beats FAMU and VUL, they have momentum going to Memphis with 2 wins

Jackson has a $65K buyout. Let him lose to Grambling and need UVL to have September win... :smh: This staff was assembled to be a top 1-AA team...TSU and FAMU should not even be a concern.

Yep.
Delta State really embarrassed JSU in 2010, the year they went to the D2 National Championship game, when JSU put up 28 points on them before they crossed mid-field in the 1st half. We had the 2nd and 3rd line players in by 3rd qtr.

Who we are playing does not have a huge afffect on the number of alumni coming to Homecoming. I know you don't think that Prairie View is bringing a large number.

That was the EXACT REASON I asked the question I did, because you know the Valley game will be a moneymaker, but you could use PV as homecoming and make that one a revenue generator also, instead of throwing all your eggs in one basket. It was just a question.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see Valley as a big money maker. I would love to see the attendance figures for Valley recently. Valley was a big draw for us back in the mid 90s. Not anymore. Making Valley Homecoming MIGHT bring some interest to the game and maximize attendance.

I agree that PV makes more sense to be the homecoming game. Valley may not be like it used to be, but it's far better than PV on its on.

Re: JSU 2014 Football Schedule

Now when was the last time PV drew any fans into Memorial. :noidea:

Seriously?
Somebody tell me the date of that game because I missed that crowd.

Re: JSU 2014 Football Schedule

That's why you make that game homecoming.

Because the last time a while ago when JSU put P. View up as the homecoming opponent, people complained and said homecoming was dead that year. There was no P. View fans here, no excitement, (outside of people coming to homecoming), no nothing.

I'm not smacking but when you mention P. View in Jackson, people go "HUH"? You mention Valley, people will be excited about adding to the win streak. It's tradition.

Why should fans care who the opponent is for homecoming?

Re: JSU 2014 Football Schedule

Have something other than drinking on people minds.
Again.............Don't know the mentality for a P. View vs SU game but the mentality for a P. View vs JSU game is "I may go if nothing else is going on" especially from the locals.

It really don't matter but who would you rather see your school play for homecoming after traveling and spending money to get here. A team they would want to see as an opponent or a team that is historically a "fan day off" for JSU fans. Homecomming is going to be a SWAC team anyway so I don't see what all the hub-bub between who JSU schedules wether it be P. View or Valley. We chose Valley...................whats the big deal. Whatever P. View pulls in the week before, we will have that too.
