North Carolina Central could be a #14 seed

Wichita State holds off NC Central despite Jeremy Ingram's 37 points

WICHITA, Kan. -- The answer was simple and came without hesitation.

When Wichita State point guard Fred VanVleet was asked what makes North Carolina Central's Jeremy Ingram so difficult to guard, VanVleet needed only two words.

"The rules," he responded.

Ingram lit up No. 11 Wichita State for a career-high 37 points on Sunday night, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Shockers' 77-66 victory.

Hampton kicked Iowa St azz that year. I won 200 bucks off of that game. It can happen. Let's go HBCU!!!

Man. I lost my voice screaming for the Pirates. Ain't nothing like watching our HBCU's play with confidence in the tournament. I hope TSU takes care of business in the play in game. THERE IS NO F'N REASON WHY TEXAS SOUTHERN CANT BEAT CAL POLY!!!!!

Some of you love to complain about the SWAC champion being in the play in game, but we need to prove we don't belong in the game by busting a__. Arkansas Pine Bluff took care of Winthrop the last time our champ was in the play n game. Texas Southern needs to start a SWAC streak. Texas Southern needs to erase that sloppy performance from 2003 against 14-16 UNC Asheville. Texas Southern played horrible defense in the first half of that game that cost them a date with Texas.

I really believe that we would have given Wichita a run. That's just my opinion. They aren't that big of team. Tallest is 6'9, and their guards aren't that big like ours. But it is what it is.

You are assuming that Southern would've been in the Play in game. With their OCC Schedule this year, if they were able to participate, I think they would've been a straight 16 seed. That would've put them in a rematch against Arizona or against Virginia.

We were going to St Louis to play Wichita but its done now.

Even if southern wasn't banned they still were eliminated before they reached the championship game....

True you are right, but that lost was all mental. If they would've gone in knowing they would be eligible, I'm more than confident that the outcome would've been different. The ban deflated that team. No doubt about it. They just beat the hell out of PV less than a week before that game. The facts are they lost so I understand where you coming from.

I don't buy that SU lost because they knew they were banned. They won the regular season title after they found out about the sanctions. And their comments after the game were that of a team who wanted to hold that title.

I don't buy that either. It's hard to beat a team 3 times in a season. We could say if Chris Hyder was in there, but they blew out PV without Hyder at the point.

Besides, wasn't Texas Southern picked to win the conference anyway? TSU stumbled early in conference play, but got through the conference tournament. College basketball has funny quirks during a long season, and what happens in January has no bearing on what happens now. Hell what happened two weeks ago doesn't have a bearing on what's happening now.

Well it is what it is.....season is over no matter the reason. Just my opinion.

I don't buy that from a competitor standpoint either. While you're playing, you don't have pity for yourself outside of the court. I'm sure many of the guys have endured worse in life and still had to get out there and play.

No matter what they still had a chance to win the championship at the Toyota center in which some of them may not have ever or will ever play in a professional stadium again.

Until the SWAC gets that big win in the tourney we will continue to stay in the 16 slot (NSU's big win two years ago as a 15... even Coppin State back in 2000 I believe. The SWAC's biggest wins have been almost wins (SU, TSU back in 94)

Almost wins? We did win.

Interesting matchup, but Iowa State is a legit Final Four team to me.

I don't know about Final Four, but I agree that Iowa State has got some ballers. And out of all of the other 3 seeds to choose from, Iowa State is the last team I'd want to against.

I guess it was just too much to ask the selection committee to put NCCU against #3 Duke huh? Coach K would have shitted on himself if that would have happened.

Syracuse is definitely beatable. I've not seen Creighton play. All I know is that they have the McDermott cat who they say is the real deal, but I have not seen him play.

If and I mean if Creighton hits their 3s, they will be hard for anyone to stop. There were several matchups I was going back and forth with over and over. lol

Like Wisconsin and Oregon, Michigan State and Virginia, Michigan State and Iowa State, Louisville and Michigan. Man it was tough. lol
