It's sickening how black people want their own to fail. Yall are some evil mofos.

"...want their own to fail"?! Huh?! They already failed! That has nothing to do with US!! Oh we supposed to be like, "Man...Prayers up to the SU athletic department! It's unfortunate nobody down there took the time to make sure shyt was correct"!

This has nothing to do with us on this board...even the SU folks. This has to do with the dumb asses at SU that didn't take care of business.

Stop trying to make this personal...

Yeah, that left me with a good question. How many of those kids would have enrolled at su if they would have known that su should have been banned from the beginning?

This was my first...no, second...wait that was "LOL@ JROCK"...so this was my third thought.

Would those student athletes have enrolled at SU? :noidea: They have the best teams in the SWAC right now which means they have talent. Maybe those kids would have went to SU anyway. IDK. But I did have this thought...

But see, here's where this stuff gets tricky. All these systems/databases are electronically based, so it shouldn't be hard to pull records from the last 10 years or so. (That's if, everything was getting properly documented!) The problem seems to stem from (inaccurate records) or just putting in blatant, discrepancies in reporting. Either SU had the records and they proved they shouldn't have been eligible or off probation to begin with, or SU is saying they don't have the records yet, because it would involve them "sweeping them/editing" to prove they are eligible which would be another serious violation.

The point here is that how can the proof of records not be available when all you need to have is records of graduation, enrollment, classes taken, G.P.A, previously submitted APR reports/requests, as well as documented timelines? This is getting really fishy and I bet this is not the end of it.

i hope it is!! B/c we got PAYBACK coming in Houston in December!!

SU get y'all shyt together!! First Gram embarrassed the conference on National TV begging for titty milk now SU letting folks know they got Lil Darryl running the school and athletic department.

Daymn Louisiana schools!

Speak for yourself, it is personal for some, you can see it in some of the posts, common sense unveils that, but have at it.:gone:

The way I understand it from the statements the NCAA and our AD have made... the data in question is the 2009 APR data that was submitted to the NCAA by SU. That data should have included records dating back up to 6 years (2003). For football and mens basketball, the info that was submitted caused us to not meet the APR standard and those teams were later banned for not meeting those standards (2009-2010, same year as JSU football ban). Obviously the data was incorrect or incomplete or both. If you recall, while our former AD was in office we had our 10 year NCAA review, and the NCAA had issues with the documents submitted by his office. We were given a conditional renewal at that time, and later the NCAA fully approved us after further review. Quite possibly, he fudged some information in order to get it done (my opinion only). Since then, SU has new coaches in both football and basketball, a new compliance officer, a new chancellor, registrar, and a new Athletics Director.

OK, in 2013 the NCAA came back to SU to do a more thorough audit of sorts to review the APR data from 2009. The NCAA does this with 30-40 schools every academic year, and plans to re-visit all Division 1 schools within the next 3-4 years. When they came back, they didn't find what they were looking for. I seriously doubt the records were adequately kept at all during those years (leading up to 2010) before our NCAA 10 year review.

In essence, the new, current SU administration might not have even known there was a previous data issue because the data was never requested until 2013. It is equivalent to one of us starting a new job, then 2 years later being asked to provide detailed information about a project that ended 3 years before we got the job. If the previous guy in your position kept good records, we'd be fine, but if not, the company is in hot water.

Okay. I'm back. I finally finished reading. Start calling you "Lil JR"

Well from your explanation hopefully other schools have already started getting their shyt in order. JSU included.

LOL@ JROCK

CS, when I said the EXACT same thing, I was told that my "comprehension" was little to none. So, either your comprehension is not good or we both truly understand that this will get "uglier" before it gets better.

NCAA Bans Southern University Basketball Teams From Postseason

http://www.nola.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/02/ncaa_bans_southern_university.html

The NCAA placed the ban after Southern missed a deadline to fix "incomplete and inaccurate" academic records. The records in question are used to determine the school's Academic Progress Rate. Programs with low APR scores are declared ineligible for the postseason.

The NCAA began working with Southern to clear the academic records in March 2013, the statement said. Southern will work to have the ban lifted in time for spring sports teams to be postseason eligible, the statement said....

The article said the NCAA has been working with southern since March 2013. That's almost 12 months ago. If that's the case, how did su get the opportunity to participate in ANY sports, including the SCG?

Then it says they didn't meet the deadline, but su folks claimed they met ALL deadlines. Either the article's inaccurate or somebody's not telling the truth.

I wonder how this will hurt recruiting in football and other sports.

Re: NCAA Bans Southern University Basketball Teams From Postseason

The SWAC did the right thing. They needed a JSU-SU SWAC Championship. lol. I'm not mad at the conference.

Re: NCAA Bans Southern University Basketball Teams From Postseason

I found this comment from the advocate article interesting. I would've posted in my original thread, but it's locked so I'll put it here:

I have covered Southern sports for nearly 20 years and have a clear idea of where the skeletons are buried. This problem began under Greg LeFleur who was unqualified for the position...Southern ran off his predecessor who was emminently qualified and ran a smooth operation at SU. he is doing the same at Morgan State...LeFleur put SU in a hole because he had no clue how to do athletic marketing...When the financial crisis began to rear its ugly head, Southern cut the compliance/academic coordinator position...So for nearly 2 years, there was no one keeping academic records...When the NCAA first appeared, Southern couldn't produce records that didn't exist..That is the probllem that is plaguing Southern now and is virtually impossible to correct...I feel bad for the athletes, but have nothing for disdain for all these bogus administrators who have managed to create a major problem that is a black eye for Southern....

The records of a student-athletes grades have to exist somewhere... they just have to dig in some databases to find the users and associate it with their grades. The problem lies if these records were being falsified at any point which would not be good at all.

Because we were not banned until recently smart guy. The ban is not retroactive. Lol. Recruiting? Dude we don't go to the FCS playoffs. Basketball we will see.
