The Chancellor could have... that guy is no longer here either, though. Check my reply to you above.

True because the AD answers to the Chancellor. At that time there were issues surrounding Lomotey as well.

How come the paperwork that was needed to clear this issues not being worked on until now. I would think you would have time to clear up the situation before it gets to an all sports ban. Only a month left to get this figured out.

That's what I was thinking also.

Forget about the back and forth about the administration. I feel bad for those seniors that may be unable to particpate in the championships in February. They've put in 4-5 years of academics, and hard work in their sport to be unable to compete for their last championship. On the postive end, they all should be pretty close to graduating.

Good luck SU, I hope this is fixed soon. Because we can all learn from this going forward because it could've easily been one of our schools.

The NCAA chose a few colleges to review as part of a new initiative. No one went back and reviewed because it was probably thought that the paperwork was already dealt with during the last review. The paperwork goes back to 2003.

Exactly..

The NCAA randomly selected a few institution so Southern probably knew about this for a minute....Not knowing exactly what the NCAA has found but the Registers office, Financial Aid office and the Athletic Dept Compliance Office all plays apart in the APR Committee on all universities campus...So a number of things could have happened to cause them not to be in compliance stating one thing without knowing the full details isnt smart to do...

Is he the top man at the Baton Rouge campus?

If so then him.......

Indirectly yes. Chancellor has more than just the Athletic department to spot check. Yes somethings do fall through the crack, however, this is huge and our AD, Athletic Dept and the Chancellor are working to get this resolved.

It just goes back to how incompetent the former AD and the current Associate AD were/are.

That seemed to be the only straw at the time, but since they came to a agreement about his final payment on his contract both parties we at fault.

Only to you outsiders. They were after him long before that. Hell TC tried to unsurp him with that Doug isht. He was going to be gone if Doug had showed up as Head Coach. Notice how TC was out front with everything concerning SU athletics when our former AD was there. That should tell you right there not even being on the inside that he was on a slippery slope. Remember when Mighty Dog posted the reason for the NCAA coming to talk to our female coaches was because they probably had something to say about our previous AD. The writing was on the wall, especially after Chancellor Jackson was gone and he was the one who gave the AD the extension. Houston just was the nail in the coffin. Even ole Stump had grown tired of the AD from all accounts.

DMJ, you are real versed on this stuff. Do your work for a college?

I hope SU is able to compete in the tournament. If they are not, will it just be a 6 team tournament for the men?

Southern is a 5-campus institution (SUBR, SUNO, SUSBO, SULAW, SUAG). Each of the 5 campuses is run by a chancellor. Each chancellor reports to the president and the president reports to the SU Board of Supervisors.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it WAS our school.
