I like our basketball traditions:
1) We all stand at the beginning of the game and do not sit until we score our first points.
2) The 'Go Sitdown Chant" has really caught on and us old heads look forward to the students get into it.
Not to mention the video in this post- The "Hannah Montanna" song you have to see it in person. You have hundreds of students do the dance.........Allowing the students to have fun has increased student attendance- easily they have a 80/20 or 70/30 split over alumni at least at this last Monday night game.

The baby dome seating capacity ~6K and our seating capacity is ~8K. No doubt the babydome will have to turn people away on Feb 8th. the Tigers will be in da house but we better get there earlier to get in.

Well, if SU and TSU continues to win and comes down to that March 8th game in Baton Rouge...Expect the Tiger Nation to roll in there deep. There is already much talk amongst alumni making the trip and I'm sure there will be a student bus or two headed that way.
Well the Baby Dome's capacity has gone down since they removed the bleacher seating and replaced them with chairback seats.

I know growing up and when I first got to college the SU/Alcorn games were always crunk.....But back then way more of the other SU games were crunk as well...Even when we played some of our games downtown in the Central Plex they used to be AMPED.....I tell my sons all the time, how they missed some really great SU and SWAC moments....

alot of the SWAC arenas got bigger over time or people got overzealous in planning as you have gyms that rarely fill up anymore
Acadome is beyond huge...
Grambling went from 2,000 to 7,000 as smaller was better...new arena is beyond big
Elmore is perfect..just renovate it
Jackson was not built for basketball...
Valley is getting a newer one but not too big..problem is when will it ever open?
Alcorn..not sure where the fans went

The mini-dome (F.G. Clark Center) was right at max. capacity for Southern and Grambling games during the 80's.

The sad thing is that it can be back like that. Probably not 6,000 but 3,000. Only 2 games have been televised this year I believe. We can't get 1500 now.

Adams gym in the 70's was always packed. Lines to get in and PLEASE don't try and get a seat for tip off....better be there from an hour to an hour and a half early. Aaron James....Eugene Short rolling thru....Gaylord Davis, Alonzo Bradley, Michael Long, Marcellous Singleton. Those were the days.

2005??? TSU vs PV HPE. 10000 plus inside, 1500 outside that could not get in.
Rocky Hollis vs Greg Burks. They put on a show. Rocky had the flu. In the latter stages of the game we had to call times out so that he could get some fluids in his system.
It was routine to have 5,000 against Southern and 7,000 plus for PV in the late 80's early 90's.
Those where the days.

If we don't have too much of a talent drop-off after this season the TSU/PVU and TSU/SU crowds can be recaptured if each school does their part to promote the games well ahead of time. I don't think any of our schools have maxed the uses of social media to help us get back to those days, but with it the potential is there.

What will help next season's home attendance for us is that we'll have the February game as opposed to the January game when school is not yet in session.

It's M-9, which is a section in SU's mini-dome that is located directly behind the visiting team's bench. Crazy students like to sit in that section so they can heckle the hell out of the players and coaches of visiting teams. Here's an article about the SU's Student Section M-9:

Courtney's first year as head coach and my evolution from singe game ticket purchaser to season ticket holder. I was there.....it was electric. Marquel Timmons with the corner shot....Hollis raising up and sticking jump shots. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh baby!

I agree. I have been beating that drum for a long time. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter....there is no reason for anyone to guess about scheduling of games and who the opponents are for the week.

The Administrators need to come to a happy medium with it's students. Sit down with representatives of each organization and come up with a Memorandum of Understanding of what is tolerable and what isn't while at the same time realize that if the Dukes, Michigan States, UCLAs, etc... do it they why not our students?

One problem with "leaving them alone" is these days most children do no respect boundaries. I point to the incident with PV that almost cost us the game. The guy supposedly had permission to take the pictures but he has to know he is not allowed on the court. I agree about letting the children have fun but the administration needs to monitor and enforce (when necessary) boundaries.
