Swac Basketball - 1/4/14

AAMU-68
JSU-61
Final

Poor guard play is what did JSU in. They couldn't seem to match up with A&M's two smaller guards. The guards from A&M (especially Crutcher) were able to penetrate to the basket at will and score.
JSU's leading scorer so far this season(Julysses Nobles) had "0" points tonight. I think the other guard Brent had like 3 or 4 points, so the backcourt didn't produce
on offense or defense.

We'll see if the team has learned how to win these close games.

Our coach made another mistake in telling the team to foul when down by 2 with 33 seconds left and su had 23 seconds on the shot clock. Don't let them go to the line and go up by 4 when you see if you can force them to make a bad shot and only be up by 2.

Wow. It is loud as hell.

SU 59
PV 55

59-57 smfh

Loud where? We didn't have many people at the game, that was me.....

Them ninjas are shooting in the 50s as far as free throw percentage. Last i saw they were 10th worst in free throws. Not necessarily the worst decision.

These fools worried more about a JSU loss than their own team's win. That's a sign of mind control.
Time will tell who gets the last laugh though.

There we go. Maybe we can get an explanation why jSU lost their home opening.

The JSU loss was my biggest shock of the first night of conference play.

Wasn't a shock to me, the "Golden Child" (Wayne Brent) is learning he's going to have to learn how to coach in Division 1/SWAC, he just doesn't have the talent he had as a High School coach, Brent has won the games Tevester Anderson would have won and lost the games Anderson would have won. Brent wears pimp/gangster suits, maybe he can throw a couple of games in the future?

Like I said, total mind control. This is unbelievable and on the verge of being childish, but for folks to be more concerned about another teams loss than their own team's win is quite telling.

I'm glad jSU has that mind control effect on us. We'll never win a championship with that jSU mind control effect.

Dude, you don't know what you're talking about. Our guards didn't show up and he didn't play the best player in crunch time for various reasons. He knows what he's doing.
We don't panic like you guys because we know Brent's building a program for the long haul, not for the short haul and with freshmen and sophomores.

Like I said, who's shooting the free throws is more important than that stat.

This dude in every thread commenting on everything SU.

I could care less if su won or loss this early in the season and where did I comment on su in THIS thread other than now. I'm more concerned about MY team than another team's loss or win unlike some of yall.
JSU simply has mind control over some of you. It's clearly showing.

SU and PV's men's teams played sloppy, IMO. PV seems to a jump-shooting team and their half-court offense looked to be the point guard penetrates and then kicks a shooter on the perimeter. Jump-shooting teams aren't going to win the conference.

SU in the half court seemed to bog down at times, but lost several rebounds to PV despite being the bigger team. They gave up entirely too many second-chance opportunities to PV and almost lost because of it. Hyder and Banks didn't get in the paint enough for my tastes against the PV zone and PV man defense in the game.

Bottom line, we got out of PV with a win ... the season's a marathon, not a sprint.

It is so sad. I hold my breathe every time we go to the line especially towards the end of the game. we loss to UALR missing about 8 or 9 in a 3 minute span and it seems as if the ft shooting has not gotten better. Derrick made the whole team better. We weren't this bad at the line last year. Our guards are even missing fts.
