A 50k domed stadium in a city like Jackson, MS is definitely not feasible. The operation and maintenance along would be too expense for such little use. If it was feasible, capital cities like Richmond, VA, Raleigh, NC, Baton Rouge, LA, and Sacramento, CA would be trying to build dome stadiums of such size. Cities like New Orleans, Houston, and Atlanta built dome stadiums to keep their NFL franchises, but those stadiums are also used for other major events, such as the GOP and the Democratic National Party Conventions, Super Bowls, NCAA Final Four, BCS Championship game, Peach Bowl, BCS Sugar Bowl, and the Essence Fest. There are at least 10 to 15 events out of a year that those stadiums are guaranteed close to maximum capacity. I doubt if a city like Jackson would ever be able to host any of those events or events of those magnitude during my lifetime. One, two, or possible three events out of a year close to maximum capacity are not enough to justify a 50k domed stadium in Jackson, MS. The best option for the City of Jackson would be to build a 50k outdoors stadium that would cost a lot less to construct, maintain, and operate, basically a replacement stadium for what is there now.
