Yep, my fellow HBCU alums, our schools need to go ahead and build inside stadiums. Football has changed. Its more now about entertainment than being tough. If there is one element that can be controlled at a football game, its the weather via a dome.

The SWAC Championship in Houston proves it and the article I just posted proves it. Hell, Kendrick was right about the Superbowl being a failure in New Jersey.

Inside is the way of the future. I think it is possible to transform a 30,000 outside seat stadium into a dome.
 



SU (Baton Rouge) - Naaaa... not with jindal or any types similar to him as governor. Not a 0% percent chance but with recent stadium upgrades it's not happening soon

Grambling (Grambling) - If this were 10-15 years ago maybe but not in the current state. Plus they're in LA. See SU lol

Texas Southern (Houston) - Advantage: 4th largest metro in the US and in Texas. Disadvantage: nfl city with a domed stadium. Don't know if houston/Texas would go for a smaller scale 25K-30K domed stadium when there's one in the area.

Prairie View (Prairie View) - I know yall gonna say it's technically not in the Houston area but it's in the area so we'll just say it is :lol: Yall say that it's against Texas law to use state funds for athletic purposes like a stadium so the question is could PV actually raise the money for one... all of this is a moot point now with PV getting a new outdoor stadium in a few years

Alabama State (Montgomery) - New stadium already. Maybe if Birmingham built one they might consider using it for the MCC for one game but that's it. 0% chance with a new stadium :lol:

AAMU (Huntsville) - I could actually see AAMU doing something similar to what JSU is trying to do with the city of Jackson as far as it benefiting AAMU and Huntsville. Not saying it would happen but it's possible.

UAPB (Pine Bluff) - Pine Bluff is not the size of Huntsville or Jackson so it doesn't have the metro area as an advantage (plus being 40-45 minutes from Little Rock doesn't help. LR would get one before PB). (Hypothetically speaking) Could PB get people from Dumas, McGehee and Monticello to consistently come to a 25-30K dome.

MVSU (Itta Bena) - The only reason I would say that Valley doesn't have the worst odds of getting one is because of ASU just getting a stadium lol. Hypothetically speaking, for some odd reason if mississippi loosened up their wallets and gave us 75-100 mil for a 20-25k stadium, them folks in Greenwood would be hopping mad because it would render the LCCC useless :lol:. Location is our major setback.

Alcorn (Lorman) - location. Same as Valley.

JSU - We've had threads upon threads about their proposed dome. no need to go into details about it. Just that I support it and that, in my opinion, JSU and AAMU are the schools in the SWAC that I could see possibly getting domed stadiums...
 
We're in the South. Football is meant to be played outside and on grass. The likelihood of schools in any southern conference, let alone the SWAC, going to domed stadiums is slim. Not going to happen.

If that is the case, why do New Orleans, Houston, Dalls, and Atlanta all have domed stadiums?
 
Football is meant to be played in the best possible conditions. As sports science and technology has evolved, there is no reason the game should be played in the muck, mire, below freezing and in the snow.

With that said, I don't think SWAC schools need to build domes. The weather in the region holds up quite well during football season.

Those stadiums are for professional football teams. You know ... organizations that are able to garner the resources to build, maintain and operate such a facility.

Despite what you delusional JSU folks believe, domed stadiums are not common among college football teams on any level. Especially in the South. And it's not going to happen in the SWAC.

If domed stadiums were somehow preferable, then Texas A&M would be spending their $450 million dollars to build a domed stadium. But, they are not. They are building an outdoor stadium. All SEC schools would be building domed stadiums. But, they are not. All of the stadiums are outdoor stadiums. All of them.

But, the SWAC should build domed stadiums. You people kill me. :lol:

Take a look at the University of Minnesota. You could understand if they decided to build a domed stadium, but nope they built an open-air stadium.

As a former football player, there is nothing like playing in late Septemeber/early October in the 70's-80's at night... loved it. late August/Early september with temps sometimes still hitting 100 degrees... shoot I was in high school when they put the heat timeout rule in after a couple of athletes died here.


I think it's a slim to none chance any HBCU gets a dome (outside of JSU's proposed dome)... with HBCU's pretty much being mainstays as far as leading in attendance (outside of the big PWC's), it's imperative that we all get updated on campus stadiums (again outside of JSU... if their dome doesn't come through, i'm sure they're get a 35K-40k stadium of their own)
 
I don't see any HBCU with a domed stadium. The only way we will see that is after one of the PWC's get one. Good ole U. S. of A won't HBCU's to outdo our PWC counterparts, now lets be realistic.
 



Didn't say anything about trying but i'm a realist. Someone from Mississippi saying something about slave mentality and yall just got free Feb 2013. Lost is someone who had to accept a hand me down stadium after renting it since conception.:gone:
