Anyone that watched the New Mexico Bowl and says there are too many bowl games.......

I love bowl season. I have always said if a team wants to play, give them a chance to play. IMHO, i much perfer giving 2 evenly match teams a chance to play a post season game as opposed to a situation where the first round is a tremendous mismatch that the bottom seed has no chance to win.

You can't watch that game and say that didn't mean anything to them kids.

Bowl season == Greatest post season in sports!!!!

Re: Anyone that watched the New Mexico Bowl and says there are too many bowl games...

I watched Washington State and Colorada State and it was awesome. Wassou was leading by 8 points and the ball with 3 minutes remaining in the game. They had a major meltdown, fumbled the ball and CSU paid dirt then made the two point conversion to tie it. On the ensuing kickoff, Wassou fumbles and CSU kicks a field goal with no seconds remaining.......

None of these games matter except one that's going to be played Jan.6. You really think kids wanna play in a bowl game in Boise, Idaho or Shreveport? Or how about the kids at Northern Illinois who are playing in the Poinsettia Bowl instead of a BCS bowl? They're not gonna care as much.

You had Oregon players saying the only bowl game they cared about playing in was the BCS National Championship Game.

The only bowl game I'm watching is FSU-Auburn. The rest is filler.

I've seen SWAC schools handle the end of games better than wazzou

I agree with the OP. They might not matter in the grand scheme of things but a lot of them are exciting (especially for schools like WSU and CSU who have been bad recently) and the coaches don't mind the extra practice for the bowl season

Re: Anyone that watched the New Mexico Bowl and says there are too many bowl games...

Well I'm sure looking forward to seeing Tulane and ULL play tonight.......

They may not matter to YOU, but they matter to them kids. They already knew they probably were not going to be playing for the National Championship before the showed up for the first day of practice. If you were on the team (which you ain't) just tell the coach you don't want to play and take your sorry behind home. Someone else will be clad to take your place.

Most of those kids LOVE IT.

Blame the BCS for telling America what games do or don't matter. These bowl games featuring 6-6, 7-5 or 8-4 teams will be rendered even more meaningless next year when the playoff system begins. Apathy in these streets is real.

Come on Kendrick, these games are not meaningless to many. It is a great reward which is earned from hard work. I am looking forward to seeing many teams play during the bowl season and enjoy the intriguing and unusual match ups......

The only folks these bowl games matter to are the bowl directors who make six figures running them. Oh, and we can't forget the epic parties and strip clubs they attend, too. Make me wanna start a bowl. The TSPN Sports Bowl played in Itta Bena.

I'm sure it matters very much to the folks making profit and party goers too. It also matters to fans and the athletes though. Would you have all bowls eliminated? Are is it that you're bored and feel like debating again? :emlaugh:

In a perfect world there would be a 16-team playoff like the one described in the book Death to the BCS and we wouldn't have worry about pretending to care about the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (actual bowl name).

I care about watching the New Orleans Bowl tonight. I'm pretty sure they would have not been part of that 16 team playoff field. I would pass on the bowls for a 16 team playoff field though. That's not a part of our current reality though.

In the playoff described in the book, ULL would be one of the 16 teams for winning the Sun Belt.

YOU fell for the bait. :smh:

You have to know when to ignore kendrick.

Thank you!!! He got his opinion, but just ignore that jibberish he talking. He don't know what them kids want. All I know is, for folk that don't wanna be there, they don't give up and play to the end. And they celebrate like they give a damn. I'm looking at the San Diego State players with all smiles, dousing the coach with Gatorade and whooping it up. But they don't care. GTFOOH!!!

In the playoff described in the book, ULL would be one of the 16 teams for winning the Sun Belt.

Which is the point, what will ULL vs Alabama look like? I would rather see them in a competitive bowl game. The 4 team playoff is more than enough for me. I don't want to see the playoffs get any bigger.

Re: Anyone that watched the New Mexico Bowl and says there are too many bowl games...

The Superdome looks packed. They just stated the crowd is the largest ever for this Bowl......

JROCK, the commentator has to be wrong. Those are not fans in those seats. Ain't nobody there. Ain't nobody watching. Why would they??? Nobody cares.

Well, I do actually...

6. If you have played in a Bowl game, please answer the following question (if not, please skip). Would you rather spend the weeks after the season practicing and preparing for:

1 Bowl game to be played several weeks after the regular season.

25.7%

Participating in playoff games that are played throughout several weeks immediately following the regular season?

74.3%

I would say the winner of this game could lay claim to being the 2nd best program in Louisiana.

You wanna know why those people are there? Both those squads are from La. In fact, Tulane plays their home games in the Superdome.

But, this is just an exception to the rule.

Here is a story about declining bowl attendance.

Try that trick on somebody, kid. You said they didn't wanna play in a bowl game, other than the BCS title game. It was meaningless. But you try to pass off a poll where the participants (assuming they are college football student-athletes) are asked to choose between playing a bowl game or being in a playoff. Apples and figs. You know it. Try that shit with somebody else.

Against my better judgment, I'm gonna bite. 2nd behind who???
