SWAC football in 2014

financially, PV is in better shape than most SWAC schools and in the most stable system...don't let the stadium fool you

So when y'all bring a recruit in y'all tell him "forget the dilapidated conditions ...ignore our poor reputation...come here and look at the financial books. "

Hey GR, that's how they signed my cousin Nick Pitre out of Lake Charles, LA over the summer.

Re: SWAC in 2014

I forgot about the West.

Yes for Grambling I don't have a clue. I'm still trying to figure out how a school who is so popular that a character on the best drama show of all time ("The Wire") would wear a throw back jersey allowed it's football team get to the state that it is in. I hope they some day return to Greatness.

I'm also at a loss at how PB looked nothing like the team the year before when it held the crown.

So if I where a betting man, I would put my chips on Southern in the west.

SCG 2014 -Southern U. vs. Alcorn (unless AAMU finds The one) :)

That's probably because the Golden Lions were NOT the same team this season as the 2012 team.

During summer camp, everyone from the 2012 team returned this season, with the exception of Lydell Hartford (who was killed this past summer), and Ryan Shaw (who had some family issues back home). Our team had a good summer camp and practiced well. About 2 weeks to season kickoff, one of our OL broke something and had to have surgery. He didn't play at all this season. Exactly 2 days before our season opener, we learned that a bunch of our players were ineligible to play........2 days before our season starts! We had 2 freshman RBs and about 4-5 freshman DBs that had to step in for us. Ben Anderson hurt his shoulder and elbow in the Arkansas State game and again in the McNeese State game, but he was able to still play. In the game against Alcorn, we had a player tear an ACL and had to sit out for the rest of the season. Our freshman did well, considering these were 17 & 18 year olds going up against Jr and Sr players (especially on defense). And while our offense certainly did step up their game, without defense to prevent giving up so many yards, it was almost a lost cause. We were able to put points on the board (averaging about 31.7 PPG) and only had 2 conference blow outs (both Texas teams); all the other conference game we lost by single digits (most less than a TD).

Hopefully my boys have learned a valuable lesson in academic importance and how it directly impacts athletic performance. And hopefully we can get an S&C coach who will make our freshman hit the gym like crazy so they can build up more muscle. It was predicted that Grambling would win the SWAC after their 2011 championship, and it was predicted we would win the SWAC after our championship last year. Both were lazy and reckless predictions, made without any regard to things that could and did happen over the summer. I posted all of this before the season started and during the season, and we all know that football is the most unpredictable sport in the league of sports. I am a firm believer, especially now more than ever before, that no 2 seasons are ever the exact same in any sport......especially football.

You beat us the SAME three years as everyone else. The BELL years.. since then, we been kickin everybody azz in the SWAC except Grambling.

You are right!! All you guys know why we had the seasons we have had the past two seasons. So to that end, this is a funny thread. And we will go to Jackson 3 years in a row and beat that azz!...lol
My brother is great friends with Fobbs. Seems that he has scooped up Eric Dooley and from other sources they have someone from Tulane and McNeese on staff, etc. Don't count them out.

PV and JSU means the same thing in Texas as your rep stops in Baton Rouge if that :emlaugh: You wonder why they're on the first train smoking out of Mississippi and they never go back

right C-Leb? All those Sippians who've spent time on Cleburne never moved back except Donald Ray at Valley

I'm glad you said that. Last time you said something so dumb we went on another Jackson ass whooping streak.

Well, that streak is not gone with the wind. Ya'll gonna REALLY be scared to come to Jackson real soon. Ya'll may as well forfeit the next 2-3 out of fear alone.
