Why not say JSU?

JSU is the only other school that could bring the numbers and it would be possible to move the BC to another weekend which just may be beneficial for the entire conference.

For what it's worth though, the goal may not be to remove Grambling. Just to let them know that there are other viable alternatives available and not to take the BC for granted. Which it seems that they are doing.

I disagree that JSU fans would come out, I'll give you the 1st 2 years, but after that, SU will be facing the same thing...Look at the games when SU played JSU in the dome, "The Big Easy" Classic or whatever that was called, the only thing that prolly would stay consistent would be the Friday night events, BOTBs but the game, would decline IMO...I think GSU needs to start back winning and the numbers will be back, SU made a turn-around we just have to wait until GSU gets their program back on par....no other school will bring an impact to the dome other than GSU, to be honest, again it's my opinion...

I see the method to the madness. I don't think he's crazy at all.

You might see the method to his madness, but everyone knows that Tony Clayton is acting as the mouthpiece for the predominately White control bat crap crazy Louisiana Republican Party. Tony Clayton's claim to fame occurred when the mostly White Republican controlled DA office of East Baton Rouge Parish offered him the national known open and closed case of prosecuting the Black serial killer Derrick Todd Lee, which some people today still thinks that Derrick Todd Lee was not responsible for murdering all those women that he was charged with murdering. From then on, rich White people in Louisiana knew that Tony Clayton would probably do whatever they tell him to do. After seeing how Tony Clayton had made his fame and fortune, other Black politicians tried to do the same, such as the Black judge in Baton Rouge having a courthouse press conference to let people know he was changing his political party from Democrat to Republican. From what I can understand, the judge only did that so that the Republicans in-charge of Baton Rouge’s DA office would appoint him as East Baton Rouge Parish’s District Attorney, since he had gotten too old to run for his seat as judge. After what the judge did (the courthouse dog and pony show) to become Baton Rouge’s DA, those White folks in Baton Rouge decided to give that position to someone White. It's not that I do not understand Tony Clayton's madness, because some of it does make some sense, but I don't trust any Black person that only speaks for the desires of rich White people. The only sense I can make out of Tony Clayton’s madness is that he knows he would always get paid for doing what he is doing. Most southern states have ignorant handkerchief head Blacks like Tony Clayton, such as Clarence Thomas, Alan Keyes, and Allen West. I personally don’t know any in Mississippi, but I’m sure there are a few there that are working hard to get White folks in Mississippi to recognize them as their Black mouthpiece. Isn’t that right GR? :emlaugh:

Also, I'm sure jSU fans would be trying to move the game to that Delusional Dome in Jackson, which there is nothing to do after the game.

Wait a minute ...how is TonyClayton looney or crazy. He ain't doing nothing but saying the same shit you jag folks say EVERY DAMN YEAR EVERY DAMN WEEK EVERY DAMN GAME. All he is saying is "we got more attendance. " Ain't that the same ridiculous bullshit y'all say all the FN time? The difference is TonyClayton is actually putting that to practical use.

Why don't y'all deconstruct his argument instead of just blowing him off and calling him crazy? Thats how illogical women argue. TonyClayton is the man. He understands that you can't keep doing the same thing expecting a different result. Saying Grambling needs to improve their play is bullshit. Have you forgotten that you had StumpMitchell as a coach for 3 years? How was the quality of that play? And the only reason SU looked decent is cause Grambling is so bad. The nerve of y'all.

Somebody from SU actually trying to use attendance in your favor and you sced to "go in " with him.

You need to move the game to home and home or Shreveport to bring interest back to the game.

It seems like y'all are ready to dismiss Tony Clayton without actually looking at numbers to see if he has a point. :noidea:
Yeah...it's a tradition, but is it working for both schools?

You do realize you lost brownie points with White folks in Mississippi by showing support for that Delusional Dome in Jackson.

You're more concerned about the dome than we are.
Please shut up about the dome. This thread has nothing to do with the dome.

Thanks,

Wasn't Clayton also in favor of giving up SUNO so that it could be merged with UNO, or something like that?

Man aint no SU fans traveling to no dayum Shreveport to play GSU, in late November after Turkey Day, in the cold...pshh...
Dude stated the obvious but doesn't have a solution for his statement, shid SU carries most of the classics that they attend...what's new??? any school you bring to the dome, SU will still be in the same state, bringing 90% of the crowd, spending % more dollars...nothing new...

He's the wrong person to develop this message. Like I said before, TC speaks for the desires of rich White folks. I'm sure you have come across Black people that you thought made some sense at times, but because who they were, you didn't trust what they were doing.

Tony Clayton is definitely an Attention Whore (Thnx Jax)!! Dude does not have SU's best interest at heart. He is simply out for his own gain... This dude just won't shut up!!!
The Bayou Classic is SU/GSU!! Instead of ousting GSU, there needs to be better Marketing to get interest back into this game. There are definitely thousands of people in New Orleans the entire weekend; However, causal Event fans have lost interest in the game. Sorry this is NOT entirely due to Gram's product on the field. Even in down years there still has been great numbers for this game.

It was stated in the article that he was standing next to Jindal when that proposal was initially announced.

In 2011, Clayton was on the receiving end of intense criticism from fellow Southern alums when he was photographed at Gov. Bobby Jindal’s side as the governor proposed studying the feasibility of merging Southern University at New Orleans with the University of New Orleans.

Jindal cited the proximity of the two schools and their low graduation rates, particularly at SUNO, as reasons for wanting to consider a merger.

In subsequent interviews, Clayton vehemently opposed the merger and said the photo with the governor was made out to be more than it really was.

I personally don’t know any in Mississippi

I do.... I can go by the ones I've encountered that have done stuff that does not favor us while serving as the mouthpiece of the white folks down in Jackson :(

But is the message, itself, wrong? Or is it something worth looking into?

Lol..then it won't be a "Bayou Classic" in Essence lol..then New Orleans will lose out on the 50 million dollars of revenue knowing jackson won't sniff that amount...but we don't know anything...lol...dude is trolling that's all lol....nga need to think about that statement more so and just let GSU get back to a subpar team...

Marketing to whom? The game has been taking place for 40 years the same weekend in the same location. How much more marketing can go into that?

Depends on who you ask, and you must consider the source, or in this case, the lack thereof.

duMASS TC pointed out the "problems" he saw but offered NO SOLUTIONS. Sound familiar?

Most Southernites despise him for a number of reasons. This happens to be one of them. He does't think before he speaks.

Come on, man.

I know you have a distaste for people of a certain political bent, but the guy is a mouthpiece for white folks because he prosecuted a Black man accused of killing white women?

You don't even want to look at the attendance figures of the BC? You don't even want to consider the possibility that something may need to change because this guy is the wrong person to bring the subject up?

Wow.

The message is wrong, lol..again, replacing GSU with who?? will generate a 50,000 plus crowd, again SU will be 35,000 plus in that 50,000 crowd that will attend the classic...lol..so again you're back at square one...

SU outnumbers any school just about when playing in New Orleans, so again dude is trolling and is wrong...it's just something you just have to live with...

This is the most interesting comment I saw at the end of the article:

Mr. Clayton seems to open his mouth before he studies an issue....FAMU and South Carolina State are in the MEAC...MEAC schools have voted to participate in the FCS playoffs if selected....South Carolina State and Bethune represented the MEAC in the 2013 playoffs..That's a non-starter...I don't know if JSU wants to go there either...It looks like he doesn't have a realistic dance partner. One of the unreported problems with attendance is the choice of event management firms....They are white, female owned and have no juice in the African-American community..They are bumbling idiots as well.

I would just like to take this time to apologize to all of our Grambling FAMILY for this BS. I know it had to rub some of you the wrong way cause it even rubs me the wrong way. Grambling is just as much a part of the Bayou Classic as Southern. WE are the Bayou Classic. If one goes then it goes....and I definitely don't want that. He nor do any of us have the right to destroy what those before us had the vision to create for us. We only have the responsibility to keep it going and build it up. So Mr. Clayton you are not Bigger than Grambling, Southern, or the Bayou Classic, and further more you do not speak for all of us who understand the big picture of what the Bayou Classic is really about. God Bless Grambling State University, Southern University, the Bayou Classic, and All other HBCU events!!!!!!!!!!

Wow.

He would have to first gain my trust as him being a messenger. As of now, I trust nothing that comes out of TC's mouth.
