What I Live By...
:emlaugh: When I read this at the end of the day yesterday I knew she would backtrack on the "hell" part. I was hoping she wouldn't though.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle on Tuesday said former President Ronald Reagan deserves "a special place in hell" for his role in the war on drugs, but later she regretted what she called her "inflammatory" remark.

The comment from Preckwinkle, known more for a reserved, straight-ahead political style, came at a conference led by former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar, who's now at the University of Illinois Institute of Government and Public Affairs.

Preckwinkle was defending the recent move by the city of Chicago to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana by allowing police to write tickets, saying out-of-whack drug laws unfairly lead to more minorities behind bars.

Downstate Republican state Rep. Chapin Rose of Mahomet questioned whether such an approach includes drug treatment for those who are ticketed. Preckwinkle said no, arguing that drug treatment should be part of the health care system, not criminal justice. She said Reagan deserves a "special place in hell" for his involvement in "making drug use political."

"What? You didn't like that?" Preckwinkle said after audience members gasped

Ronald Reagan wasn't the first or the last, but he was certainly the most prominent at the very beginning," Preckwinkle told the Tribune in a phone interview.

The resulting policies have had the effect of sending young African-Americans and Latinos to jail and prison in disproportionate numbers, she said. They also have driven up government costs and damaged communities, she said.

"Drug policy in this country has been in the wrong direction for 30 years," she said. "I think that's something they should acknowledge. If I had it to do over again, I certainly wouldn't say anything quite so inflammatory. But my position basically remains the same."

Regan was one of the worst Presidents this country had, although he really was senile after his first term. Bush Sr really ran this country behind the scenes. Repubs love to praise Regan, he was a actor who played the part, but his policies of this trickle down stuff is why we are in debt now and the drug war he did nothing for is why the hood is screwed up.

Reagan administration turned a blind eye when Latin drug lords would ship drugs into the hood all in the name of fighting communism in Central and South America, but implemented tougher laws on drugs used by those mainly in the Black community, which disproportionately jailed a lot of brothers. This is the main reason why I can't understand why some Blacks would support the Republican agenda, unless they are making mega bucks to do so. Back in the mid-90's, a writer for the San Jose Mercury proved that the government knew who were bringing drugs into South Central Los Angeles.

The world knew...

The world knew...

I'm sure you knew about the pilot from Louisiana who flew drugs into this country from all over Central and South America. Supposedly, he was assasinated by Columbian Drug Lords while doing community service at the Salvation Army on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge, LA. His murder trial took place during the time I attended Southern. Last year I realized that there are several Columbians living in Louisiana now.

I remember that. Dude was on 60 minutes or some news show before he got taken out. I was on the yard then as well.

His name was Barry Seal. He was a CIA contract hired. He ran guns, drugs, or whatever throughout Central and South America to make money. Most folks in Louisiana rarely speak of him now.

Hell Bush Sr called Reagan out when he ran against him for the Republican Nom in 80-81 time frame. Dude said it was Voodoo Economics with that trickle down theory. Reagan was one of the worst Presidents Domestically in the history of this country. Only good he did was scare the rest of the world that his old arse would drop the bomb on their arses if you fugged with the US and he kept the military stockpiled and plenty of government jobs and contracts were available. LOL. He was good at convincing Americans that he was doing a good job with his speeches and that John Wayne like mentality.

Don't know if Bush ran the country during that second term. But he certainly knew what was going on. Reagan had some serious bastards in his cabinet that were telling him what to do. So much that even Nancy Reagan couldn't stand a few of them. Casper Weinberger was a mofo and so was James Baker, Donald Regan and others. I think Nancy got Donald fired because he had too much influence over her husband. LOL. Ole HW Bush was just sitting in the wings watching them self destruct. He was smart enough to not get caught up in that Iran-Contra scandal. Reagan allowed his Defense Secretary and Military to run amuck. LOL. I came in on the last of his Presidency. Still got my picture of my swearing in with Reagan's portrait in the background. LOL. But he is the Republican's Holy Grail. Well the old Republicans. These tea party mofos are on some different isht. Even Reagan was not as bad as some of them.

As for the drugs. The government has known for years what was going on. They allowed the hoods to be torn apart with that isht. Plus some of them have cut deals to allow that crap into the US anyway for other favors. I have never bought into this whole war on drugs by the politicians. Been a sham from the inception. SMH.

Man the Gov hands are bloody when comes to drugs and stuff. I never bought into the war on drugs by any President. Maybe President Carter was trustworthy on it. But he had no power to stop it either. All these presidents have turned a blind eye to the government corruption that has been involved with stuff like this. Dudes like Barry Seal did enough favors for the US as he made money running his drugs and guns. He give the US Gov a few names or info that the CIA wanted and they allowed him to do his thing. Knowing that the drugs would tear down our neighborhoods before anyone else.

I never was involved in drugs neither, but I had relatives that were. I can remember when the 5.0 Liter GT Mustang had first came out and was very popular. My cousin was one of the first brothers on the yards back in the early 80's that had one. His Mustang had Cheetahs running down the side. Even though the little car was brand new, somehow he was able to get over 100,000 miles on it in less than a year. I guess he had ran that car between New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Houston several times.

Also, folks like Barry Seal didn't give a damn about the Black Community or any so-called minority group. Come to find out, his dad was in the KKK.

Didn't like Regan but in the end, it was black mofos that sold that shat to blacks and killed other blacks, destroying the black community and families. Regan been dead decades. Harlem was flooded with drugs shipped in from Vietnam by a black man that has been turned into a cult figure star by Denzel and stupid black idiots that worship him and that was LONG before Regan. And he was not the only one.

Damm these feel good tirade excuses.
Put more energy into cleaning these criminal negros off the streets now that are making them killing fields. These black mofos don't GAS about their own black communities either.

But when laws are created to put cats away for a decades for drugs, that does just as much damage to communities and dudes dealing it.

Not to mention black folks are arrested and convicted more than whites even though both groups use drugs at about the same rate.

Barry Seal was the reason the USA, Regan, and Olie North went after that region so hard. Before Barry Seal got caught and started working with the DEA, Regan and the rest of these dumbazzes had never heard of drug cartels that was shipping in that much cocaine to the USA.

The United States Government dropped him like a hot stone once they had their evidence about the contras.

Barry Seal.
They made his biography and life during that period into a book and then later a movie. The movie is called called "DOUBLECROSSED" starring Dennis Hopper. That dude had it going on and was something else. The money he made was unbelievable back min the late 1970's and early 1980's before law enforcement got in the mix.

Pablo Escabar was still a Congressman for Columbia back then.
