Swac Football Attendance - Week 9

Since NCAA requires FBS schools to have a minimum stadium capacity of 30k, I think the NCAA should require FCS schools to have a minimum stadium capacity of 10k. Schools with 6k to 8k seating capacity should be made to move down to Division II or Division III. Since most HBCU's at the FCS level already meet that requirement, I think the NCAA has unfairly allowed PWC's to compete at that level without actually doing much in facility upgrades.

I don't think that 30K minimum exists anymore. The NCAA has never upheld any of the capacity or attencance requirements. If they did, many schools would be back in 1-AA.

BTW, losing in overtime ain't exactly getting your arse kicked. LOL. Had the score stayed 31-14. Then I would say we got our arse kicked.

One thing I can say about SU is that ya'll never have talent but you all have a keen eye for a good opportunity to score. Alcorn was 3 TDs better than ya'll but the Alcorn mistakes kept ya'll in the game. I was shocked when ya'll took the lead but again, Alcorn mistakes helped. I still can't believe your division is so sorry that ya'll are likely to go to Houston.. LOL

That was the 30k average attendance per year. I still think NCAA requires all FBS schools to have at least a 30k stadium. It's strange they set it at 30k, because there's only one HBCU that has an on-campus stadium that meets that requirement, which Norfolk State.

Alcorn did have more fans than y'all bruh. I will give them that. What happened in Shreveport? That was a short ride from Jackson and Dallas where y'all got some alums. Plenty of room to tailgate and sit.

Ya'll always say Alcorn have more fans than us but ya'll have no way of knowing that especially when the JSU crowd is so dispersed. I think the situation is such that there are fewer SU fans when you all play Alcorn so it give the impression that Alcorn has more because the ratio is better. I don't think SU fans fly in from across the nation when ya'll play Alcorn.

There are close to 10 schools who don't have 30K seat stadiums and I don't think they they are in a hurry to get to 30K.

In addition, know GaSouthern is expanding but they were accepted into 1-A without a 30K seat stadium.

A school can be accepted with a stadium less than 30k, but they must have an plan within a certain time frame to expand to at least 30k or more. Liberty University has a plan to expand to 30k. I'm sure once they reach 30k, they would be seeking approval to move up.

I think that USED to be the rule but the capacity and attencance rules no longer exist. Look at all those schools who NEVER average 15K and look at the ones who have been 1-A a LONG time and have never expanded. Those rules are yesterday...like 10-15 years ago.. yesterday.. . I don't think FAMU even had an expansion plan when they got accepted.

You might be right. The NCAA might not enforce the capacity and attendance rules anymore, but my point is, the NCAA initially made those rules to make sure HBCU schools weren't initially eligible to move up to D1-A. Now that pretty much all HBCU's are not financially able to make that move, the NCAA chooses not to enforce those rules. And what makes matters worse for HBCU schools, PWC schools with a lot less, can compete on the same level with HBCU schools with a lot more.

The mayor of Shreveport is using PV to convince either Grambling and SU to move the bayou classic or JSU or SU to move the JSU/SU game there, that's y PV plays them instead of UAPB, which would be a more reasonable opponent

easy here,

Aint nobody moving the BC nor JSU/SU game to Shreveport.......lost of money and interest......HE IS STEADILY USING PV AS YOU STATED.......

There is no 30K stadium rule. You just have to average 15K once every 2 seasons.

Traffic was backed up this weekend at SU but it did move rather smoothly. I had to park in the back in a lott across from some dorms. Parking was $20. Also, the new field house looks nice on the outside and from the pics I saw on the inside as well but is there not a visitor locker room located in the new field house? If it is, why do teams still have to walk to yal old gym to get dress before the game and after the game, and then go under the home side bleachers to the locker room after pre game warm ups and half time?

Dude...I have been harping about this for a while. SU is so stupid and ghetto they don't allow folks to use the visitors looker room right there off the track. They say they don't want visitors messing up their new locker room. Its really the ghettoest shit I've ever heard. The SWAC office should get involved in making SU let visitors use the locker room....but since that loser didn't even pick up the phone to call Grambling about NOT playing a game they will never speak to SU about them giving their team an unfair advantage. Too bad them blocking the locker rooms didn't help them from taking an ass whipping from JSU and Alcorn

I saw the pictures and noticed the stands looked empty...I just figured it was because folks from both schools were recovering (financially and mentally) from Homecoming the week before. :noidea:

We knew that was gonna happen when the schedules came out and both schools homecomings were the previous weeks. Like someone else said it was still better than that persons school homecoming.

Maybe not now, but I do believe the NCAA required a minimum 30k stadium capacity when they made the distinction between D1-A schools and D1-AA schools, which is why LaTech increased its stadium capacity to 30,600 in 1989 and ULM increased its stadium capacity to 30,427 in 1993. At one time, the NCAA was about to move ULM back down to D1-AA due to the fact that they were not able to meet the average attendance requirement.

So yalls excuse for not coming anywhere near the JSU attendance numbers is that a lot of people were outside? Really? There are always going to be Negros where free food is. Stop it. Y'all ain't us y'all ain't on our level. Y'all even tried to say Alcorn had more fans than us. This much hate can't be healthy.

Well good luck with all these diversions and homecoming and such.

And be gracious enough to let folks use that locker room. Y'all some trifling ass ******ws

Thanks JSU for the extra $$$.

The main reasons why I don't want them jokers to make it Houston. They talked all of this crap about how good their team will be and having the best recruiting classes. Used every tactic in the book to slight JSU, I just sat back and LOL. Now that the season is here they don't want to bring up anything related to offense, defense or special teams. You can't pay them to talk about recruiting now HAHAHA. I mean one guy actually brought up Hurricane Katrina to make sure JSU and the state of MS is second behind LA smh. They were smacking about practice jersey's to Joseph Dray being the best QB in the SWAC.

Dude,

30K to 27K is 3K difference. WOW what a big difference GR. Really man, really. LOL. I am sure SU made WAYYYYYYYY more money this weekend than the JSU weekend. I can understand if that number was off by 10K or something. Actually it was probably less than 3K as folks got in without being counted as they participated in Homecoming activities.

Dray still is the best QB in the SWAC. Him and Ben at UAPB. Nothing has changed there.

You joking right?

Best QBs in the SWAC

Lovelock/Smiley
Clayton Moore
Ben Anderson
Homer Causey
DrayJoseph
John Gibb

Hell I actually think JohnGibb is doing a better job of running an offense than DrayJoseeph. Dray aint nearly the best QB in the SWAC. It aint close.

Gibbs is a better athlete than Dray. But Dray still throws the nice ball. His decision making is definitely not as good as it should be for a Sr. But I will still take him over everyone else. Talked to Gibbs old man after the game. That kid is going to be really good by his Sr year. He does run Alcorn's offense well for a true Soph.

Lovelocke is like you always said SU Qbs were when Orlando was our OC. System Qbs. Smiley is better than Lovelocke. Ben Anderson is an athlete playing Qb. He is better this year than last though. He just don't have help.

I am not going to even get into the Clayton Moore thing. Comegy and your OC are doing a great job managing him now. Ivy still is the best Qb on the team. Hope he comes back strong from that injury.

Alcorn's QB's dad was Gibbs from Southern Lab?
