Yea the Sports Hall of Fame will be on the first floor of the dome so Walter ayton and other greats will be inside there..But I would place a HUGE TIGER STATUE outside the stadium to let people know they are in Tiger Country....

The SCG and SWAC office should be located in Jackson as that is the only centralized location in the SWAC but I honestly dont think our administration cares about dealings with the SWAC Conference there have been discussion about the SWAC Conference and our relationship...Something is brewing! I think the admin. wants to follow the TSU method I just wish that other schools would join in!

I don't think your current administration will be around when this comes to fruition. I think the Dome is a great idea. But with all that is going on with your AD and it will affect your President with them lawsuits. It would not shock me if those 2 ladies are gone before a shovel even hits the dirt. However I do think this project will got forward. Not sure about yall trying the Tn State method. It truly ain't no money going to the OVC. You have two FCS choices to go to and that is the SLC and OVC that makes monetary sense unless you guys are going to leave for the MEAC. Otherwise with FBS conferences raising the ante on fees to join. It would cost a whole lot of money to make that jump.

I heard that there was a talk with the usual MEAC/SWAC suspects of a Super HBCU 8 Conference to go to FBS, but 4 schools voted against that idea...dont know how true that is but we will see!

Now that idea was a good one. TP always said that and I was one who agreed with him on that. However I don't know how the financial landscape is with everyone for a bunch of us to make a move like that. That includes MEAC schools as well. I know even some of them were having financial issues. I know SU can't afford a move to FBS right now.

Do yall really believe we are getting this dome to stay in the swac??? That is like edward waters building memorial to stay naia. Lol nah, there have been talks about leavi.g the swac.

The problem is where do you go? I don't think yall think about the financial impact it will be to make a move. If you go to the SLC with McNeese and Sam Houston State. You will see a decrease in attendance big time. If you go to the OVC with Tn State, you will have to do the same thing they do. Hope to schedule HBCUs to help fill Memorial. See you are an educated JSU fan. But what we all forget is that we have tons of our fans in HBCU world who care less about all this playing PWCs. Now I am not saying don't try to better yourself. But the black fan mindset is not interested in playing SE La or Nicholls State when they come to Jackson. Same for playing Tn Martin or whomever is in the OVC outside of Tn State.

TP had the best idea of HBCUs moving up together. But that was when everybody was financially sound and not low resource institutions as the NCAA classifies us. It is more to it than just to do it. I wish any HBCU well if they can make a jump up. I was hoping FAMU could have pulled it off back in the day.

But yall have to be careful in just saying fugg the SWAC and leave as an independent. Yall already know what will happen. The other schools will refuse to play yall just like Texas did A&M. The only difference is their fans don't care if they play little sisters of the poor or if it is rain or shine. They will pack their stadiums. Anyway, the Dome is a great idea and I hope for my hometown's sake that JSU gets this done and done quickly.

It's not going to happen! The demand or fans isn't there to justify a 50,000 seat stadium. Good Luck!

You just refuse to get it don't you.
THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT A FOOTBALL STADIUM FOR JSU although JSU would own it.

This project is being billed as part of the Downtown Jackson entertainment district development as well as a venue that the Jackson metro, Central Mississippi and all of Mississippi can use to draw big time entertainment and events year round.

It is not just for JSU. The State and City would benefit from it. That's the approach that has to be taken. It would be a win win for all parties. This is bigger than just JSU if done right.

yep.

You build the Dome, you better have some coaches that coach some football and players that actually take pride in playing for the school.

BTW, anything the Republicans of the state of MS can touch and have influence, I want no part in.

Well.
Guess you won't be attending any more games in Jack-Spinks or visiting Alcorns campus again. Where do you think Alcorn got the bond money to build that stadium and who do you think controls the money ALCORN get to keep it's doors open?

easy here,

Looks good.....great idea.....could be the next big thing in the state of Mississippi.....I dont see them building a dome for JSU and OLE MISS and Miss State gets nothing.,....

MSU is upgrading right now.
Once they complete it Ole Miss will figure out a way to upgrade their stadium to out-do MSU's upgrade
They'll go back & forth until Jesus comes back.

Yea they do but neither has a dome. Now if JSU does get this dome I can see MS State and Ole Miss playing in the doom as well as many big games because regardless of the weather the game will be enjoyable

Ok this is what I dont think some of you understand...the dome or stadium idea is for things beyond the SWAC state of mind...we can play in a Newell Field size stadium for the SWAC...Jackson State Admins and alumni have talked about leaving the SWAC for years, everything JSU has done for the last 13 or 14 years have been geared towards making moves above the HBCU level...Look at the increase in enrollment to nearly 10k students more University Funding from the Federal Gov, the move in the Science Dept to federal research means more money all these things are being done to move JSU forward...Hell we have the best campus among HBCUs and with the addition of the new on campus dorms and apartments we are really moving forward

As far as moving conferences thats in the works as well there is no future in the SWAC...take out the way JSU football and sports is doing right now. (which is better than most schools in this conference) they are obviously looking ahead to the future and that future more than likely wont include Rick Comegy and TFO Fuller may not make it past May when her contract is up..

Mississippi State and Ole Miss have spent over $10 million on Jumbo Trons and sound systems alone. We not even going to get into the multi-million dollar upgrades they have already made and are building right now. Ole Miss is adding more seats to thewir stadium for the 3rd time in 15 years. Mississippi State is doing the same. Ole Miss needed $25 million to build an indoor practice facility. Them mofo's raised that in less than 13 months. Mississippi State is doing a complete renovation of the basketball arena. They are in the 3rd year of a $120 million facility upgrade building program that started in 2010.

I kinda doubt that, Ole Miss and Miss State both have nice stadiums..That wouldn't be smart to give up ON CAMPUS dollars and drive to Jackson State "Tiger Dome" for a game on JSU Campus with JSU logos engraved in the stadium and knowing that you will have to pay JSU! After Miss State Upgrade I cant see them upgrading anymore! Miss St and Ole Miss are mid tier teams in the SEC...

Not a chance............
Ole Miss and Miss State will never play another game in Jackson Mississippi
. They sure as hell not going to play in a stadium owned by JSU that won't hold their current season ticket holders. Ole Miss and Mississippi States stadiums are larger than memorial now and still expanding.

Them not playing in Jackson was established when the modern day on campus facilities war started back in the late 1980's, when they abandoned Memorial in favor of having all games on campus. The only reason they played in Jackson back then was because both of their stadiums only seated 47,000- Mississippi State and 52,000 Ole miss. Now its about Lux boxes and having as many people on your campus and in your town as possible.
