JSU vs. SU: The Atmosphere That Use To Be Present at Nearly ALL HBCU Games.

Wait what?

And the Marching 100 only made one trip to Mumford since the 80s...that was the 2000 match-up

I think the 100 came in 1998, the 50-49 game (it was how that game went that made Billy Joe keep his foot on the gas in 1999). Nunnally broke Jerry Rice's career receiving mark that game. However, the 2001 game in Bragg when they cut the sprinklers on us was classic too.

But back to the topic at hand:

Like JR said, it's basically a border war game (think West Virginia/Pitt, Oklahoma-Texas, etc.). The schools are in relative proximity of each other and each are the main HBCU in their respective states. Plus, a lot of times the JSU-Southern game had a lot to do with SWAC championships.

To me, whenever I go to the Southern-JSU game, it feels like big boy football. The game flows with an intensity that is unmatched in BCF and quite honestly in FCS period.

exactly why does this game need to be seen on National tv?

does the commissioner get to decide which games are on national tv?

The conference's games with the highest attendance are shown on national tv. Does the commissioner get credit for that?

This game needs exposure for all intended purposes:
1. It's a good game regardless of where it's played because both schools will travel. You always want to show a game with a large crowd.... (This is one no-brainer)
2. It gives the SWAC a chance to showcase not only the football teams but also two historic bands (a total package).
4. This could have am impact on recruitment of students and athletes for both schools and other schools in the SWAC.

This..........!

MH,

Why would you not want to showcase one of the better matchup the SWAC has to offer? I am not discrediting the MCC (never been), just wanting your prospective of this.

I agree. It will help the SWAC as a conference

I never said that the game should not be shown. Matter of fact, I didn't discount that game in any way. (not my style) I only wondered why folks think it "needs" to be shown. All the more interesting that the powers that be seem to never recognize the need to show the game.

It's BS like this that has destroyed the sports board......:smh:

The MCC is a meaningless as a game....its more of Bamas only black event of the year. Most of the people that go to that game have no idea who is playing, nor do they care. Change the teams, you will get the same results.

:emlaugh:

I say don't take it that direction because this thread become nothing but a pissing contest...I'll point out 7 or 8 jukebox members arrested for beating a band member in 2008...then y'all gonna talk about the 100...then the thread becomes a clusterf*ck

So let's just let it go...back to JSU vs SU

Out trolling today I see.

He said the 1995 alumni bus. Hell I hadn't rode the yellow school bus by then lol.

You all act as if you're amazed that folks on this sight are older than you. :emlaugh: I've been a member of this sight since at least 2001. Were you on the short bus by then? :emlaugh:

But at least those that were arrested was enrolled in school. For some strange reason, not all bands can say that.

I'd be interested in seeing this one on tv but until that day is SU going to broadcast it through there sorts team?

instead of the SWAC-MEAC Challenge, I wish we had the Legacy Weekend, it would have GSU playing TnST on Saturday at 4 oclock, JSU playing SCST on Sunday at 4 and the finale SU vs FAMU on Labor Day at 11 oclock all games played in Atlanta in the Georgia Dome!!!

After I missed the game in 2010, I vowed to NEVER miss another JSU-SU game if I could help it.... no matter how sorry SU is.

Yes, I missed the 2010 game. :bawling:

It's the number one game in the SWAC... now thank me for my comment.

Man its like when I found out my mom was on facebook. I guess I just don't picture any one as that old because you don't really talk to anyone in real life outside your age group. And no only the kids who were LD and got out of school at 1:30 rode the short bus. I walked to school until middle school.
