You do realize that Coleman had 22 carries for 91 yards for an avg. of 4.1 YAC

That's not saying much. Houston has one of the WORST run defenses in the nation but yall claim your starting RB did not play, so you'll get a "pass" in that area.
You don't get one for your defense though and you definitely don't get one for your punting, kickoffs and field goals. That's usually an su strength, your special teams but you guys will struggle mightily in that area.

Some folks will find a way to hijack a damn thread

How is talking about su players in an su thread hijacking? You guys kill me with this whining about hijacking when there is none. Sheesh!!

Now your special teams is usually your strength and that's how you oftentimes got good field position and TD's. I don't know what happened but your FG kicker has got to improve.

And who is exactly whining? Our kickoff coverage and punt coverage wasn't bad at all. Punter did a nice job. Kick off return game was good. Our kicker does need to improve. As far as Houston is concerned. You guys kill me with a certain FBS school was ranked such and such. Dude they are still FBS.

Well, that's how su beat JSU last year, with your special teams.
By the way, Stump's first year was only two years ago, so it hasn't been that long.

Pete used to have very good special teams year after year.

I think they were talking about our struggles with our kickers, not the kickoffs and punt returns.

Nah...it was on and off wit pete....he still had struggles with finding a good FG kicker

Actually they are conference members of the BCS automatic selection group.

Reading articles this morning from Northwestern St. I forgot how much they really enjoy the series. I for one enjoyed the series as well. I hated that we got away from this In State Rivalry. Glad its back up and running. It is actually pretty refreshing to see and hear this.

Northwestern State, Southern to renew rivalry on Saturday

NATCHITOCHES - Rekindling an in-state rivalry is fun and rewarding, says Northwestern State football coach Jay Thomas, but away from the field, it's more work for the coaches than other games.

The Demons (1-0) kick off their home season Saturday night at 6 in Turpin Stadium against Southern's Jaguars (0-1). It's the 11th meeting in the series and the first since 2002.

"It's a good thing. It's very positive. As the week goes along, the excitement around the game steadily builds up," said Thomas, who grew up in Baker, near Southern's Baton Rouge campus. "It's an in-state battle. We recruit against each other. We know each other as players, as coaches, as administrators, as alumni and fans. Some of our players were high school teammates with their guys, or played against them, or grew up in the same city."

This was a good series. I remember when we first played in 93 at the Superdome, we had a nice size crowd.

It doesn't make sense for SU, but it makes plenty of sense for NSU. I would rather play UL, Tulane, ULM, LaTech.

I was there. It was Pete's first game coaching at S.U. You could tell after that game that Southern U. football was on its way to good things...

Why not? We need to play these FCS schools in the state as well. I don't mind playing those FBS level schools for a nice check. Especially ULL since they are so close. But the NW State game does make sense to me. I wouldn't mind playing SE La too since they are close in a home and home.

Exactly! Playing FCS games does make sense.

yeah that's a great point JR! Playing SouthEastern seems like it could be a real nice rivalry!

We actually played them a couple of times, I believe in the 80's. Put it this way, we certainly don't have a shortage of possibilities when it comes to scheduling games in Louisiana.

Playing them and other FCS level in state schools makes more sense than playing FBS and getting our guys all hurt up in week one. Thankfully, we avoided the injury bug this time around! BTW, are there any tickets left for the game at either of the schools??
