Is Alabama A&M's band coming to Grambling

A huge part is the return trip issue, GSU has not been here since 08, JSU since 05, SU, since 06, TXSU/PV never, so I would not run up behind those schools and spend good money traveling there when they refuse to reciprocate

I think the BOOM is coming to ya'll this year...don't take my word on it tho.

SU used to come all the time before Jindal got to slashing folks budgets and SU had to act accordingly. I think you will see SU in the future. The Human Jukebox Alumni Association and KKPSI Zeta Nu Chapter alumni are all doing their part with both organizations to raise or donate money to our beloved Jukebox. With some of these bands like JSU and SU that actually grew in size the last few years, it becomes hard to have enough budget for those trips. PV and TxSU probably would have to spend a lot to travel to Huntsville. Hard to convince the people who hold the purse strings on allowing the band to travel. I would expect the same from AAMU and them traveling to Texas or La. This is the world we live in these days as far as money is concerned. I was used to seeing the Jukebox make every game for years and years. If we want to see our bands travel, our alums will have to chip in. The schools just can't justify spending that money like that anymore.

Knowing Taylor. He already has decided where he wants to go. LOL. The Boom should be able to travel this year since a lot of the far opponents in the conference come to Jackson this year. You really only have Valley, AAMU, SU, and PV on the road. Isn't the PV game back in Shreveport? The schedule sets up great for band travel for JSU. New Orleans is close, Baton Rouge is close, you play in Memphis which is close, Shreveport is close, Itta Bena is in the state obviously. So really all Taylor has to decide on is if he wants to go to Huntsville. I would think the Boom could actually make every game this year looking at how the schedule laid out for you.

I just wish our HBCU Presidents could work together and make things happen for us as alumni and for the fans of HBCU ball. Arrogance and mismanagement is killing all of us.

I'm sure AAMU attendance numbers have a lot to due with why most SWAC bands don't travel to Normal. If AAMU had a pack stadium every game, I'm sure most SWAC schools would find a way to send their band. Game day atmosphere has a lot to do with if the band participates or not.

IMO, it's a combination of both SWAC schools administrations and SWAC fans.

but the administration wont continue to spend money sending AAMU band to other schools but when it's time to return the favor other bands try to use that excuse lol....It doesn't work that way!

if JSU comes to normal this year I'm sure they will get a return trip next year from AAMU...

Don't know if the band will be coming to BR because like Blankman said the Jukebox hasn't been to Hsv since 06....

I think our administration goes by the "if you come to us we will return the favor" deal...it's fair

What I'm saying, if schools have to cut trips for the band, more than likely they will cut those games that are least attended and the farthest in distance.

that may be the case but all i'm saying is don't expect the other school to still make a trip the next year

I know the way our administration is they would just take that money and spend it on something the students want or the University needs...

Oh I understand what you are saying, but when a visiting band don't come to Baton Rouge that means 200 to 300 more seats for home fans. Fan support is a big reason why visiting bands participates.

yeah that's is good for SU...yall should set aside 200 or 300 more tickets to sell this year for the A&M game

When I marched we only did not go to PV/TxSU and UAPB. Outside of that, we supported the team and went. But other schools said eff coming to Huntsville and our administration/Staff noticed

A&M's band has made more trips to Grambling but when it's time to return the trip Grambling has some outlandish excuse lol....

That's the main reason the band won't be there if i'm not mistaken....

Alcorn and UAPB always come to Normal so I'm guessing Hugine doesn't have a problem sending them there...

Stop the lies, you act as if A&M's band comes to Grambling consistently, quit the lies. A&M's band first time coming to Grambling was in 05, Grambling went to A&M in 06, A&M came to Grambling in 2009, Grambling didn't go to A&M last year due to another performance, the band does things outside the football games to generate funds, in fact they are doing three NFL games this season but so happen something has been worked out and they will be able to attend every football game on the schedule this season so maybe both bands will get to see each other next season. The World Famed is traveling to Montgomery this season but the Bama State's Band hasn't been to Grambling since 2002. It's all about availability with Grambling, nothing is intentional. From what i hear from an A&M alumni who marched in the band, the band at A&M isn't going to many away games this season.

here u go....didn't I say in the post you just quoted A&M has made more trips??? You just proved that with your response...and I still don't know if that's true .... if i'm not mistaken A&M has made even more trips than you claim..

and yeah the band alumni was right about that...he can speak on the games AAMU will be attending...I already know which ones they going 2 but I'll wait til Blankman or Psisnake or other MMW alumni speak on the trips the band will be going to...I owe them that respect to let that "confirmed" info out lol

Has AAMU every really had a large fan base? When I lived in Huntsville, the games weren't packed for AAMU unless it was homecoming and even then the stadium wasn't filled. Seems to me that a lot of people in Huntsville and other cities and towns in Bama are more concerned about Alabama and Auburn more than their own schools. Well, that is what I noticed when I lived there.

It's more about demographics. You lived here you know Huntsville is a "white city" and the majority of North Ala cities are majority white...To be honest one can make the arguemnent that the majority of our fanbase is in Birmingham and Mobile and parts of the blackbelt but you can't expect them to travel to Huntsville every weekend because like I stated earlier that HSV is considered a "white city" and they feel uncomfortable for some reason....that's the dynamic here...

If AAMU was in Mobile or Birmingham I know for a fact you would see a difference.....

Another thing alotta blacks that live in HSV don't get behind the school because they think AAMU students and Alumni think they are better than everyone else....that's a stigma that still hasn't been addressed here for decades

LOL... But I know as of now we will be at MCC, GT, and Alcorn, not sure about any others. I know GSU is a no go this year.

Wow 1 more trip more for A&M's band travelling to Grambling vs Grambling going to Huntsville, Jesus. And you are mistaken A&M's band has only been to Grambling twice. I remember like it was yesterday when they said in 2005 that was A&M's first time ever and i mean ever coming to Grambling.

:lol::lol:

yea, so far we've maintained a good trip-return trip relationship with AAMU hope both schools keep it up.

lies! aamu went to gsu 05 and 09. gsu went 06 and 08 mind you aamu did not come in 07 or 2011 gsu did not go in 2010 and 2013 both OWE trips THAT comment need to be made toward JSU not GSU. But aamu saving money for SCSU game i bet!!

The whole I ain't coming to you if u don't come to me thing is BS. The propose of going to a game is to support YOUR team not to "battle" another band. AAMU should go to as many away games as the band can afford regardless of who comes here.

When I was marching we had that mentality, the administration looks at it differently and we have to adjust and budget accordingly.
