How do you top the experience of performing in a major pop star’s music video?

The Stingettes of Alabama State University just found out. You take it live. On an international stage.

ASU’s Stingettes just wrapped up working with singer Robin Thicke on his new “Give It 2 U†video, rumored to premiere during Sunday’s MTV “Video Music Awards.†The dance team was flown out to L.A., worked two 12- to 14-hour days on a hot football field and returned home the next day, exhausted but still reeling from the experience.

Then, days later, an even bigger jolt: The Stingettes were invited to perform live onstage with Thicke during his performance of “Give It 2 U†at the VMAs.

Impressive and in this day and time there's more competition for musicians/artists to seek HBCU's. These girls are regimented for this type of dancing. :tup:

It's a great time to be a HORNET!!! Bottomline, when pristine Polaroids and the "miss goodie two shoes" image are not selling, do something different! I love #myASU because we are intuitive, innovative, and Resilient. You have to know how to moderate with the current age while appealing with the young. #LEADTHEWAYmyASU!!!! #BOLD, #DARING, #NOTBOUNDBYTRADITION!!!= #myASU!!!
 
so the other line IS Albany State's Passionettes. however, not sure where the Jacksonville Jsettes came from but i'm assuming they really wanted our Jsettes. as a result, there production did a little something to reference them, without actually referencing them and provided props with saying say to who. but anyways... it's all yours. enjoy and live it up ASU and ASU.
 
The Stingettes looked as usual on tonight's MTV Music Awards. Their outfits looked good and they were together with those moves. :tup:

That performance left Will Smith and his family speechless. Look at the look on Will's son face. Poor little fellow, he looks like he has never seen such a raunchy and ghettofied show like that before. It really looks like he is scared and is about to cry. All I can say, MTV is out of control. I bet necks and bat crap crazy Republicans/Tea Party folks are going to blame President Obama for this. This is way worse than Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction in Super Bowl XXXVIII.

Thicke's wife, actress Paula Patton, made the suggestion to feature the Black college dance teams in the football halftime show-themed video. Shooting took place over six days earlier this month in Los Angeles. The dance teams were selected by the HBCU Dance Corp. who ranked them among the top five in the country. The Stingettes, who perform with the ASU Marching Hornet Band, were chosen to participate in the video along with the Albany State University Golden Passionettes. The two groups rank in the Top 5 of dance teams overseen by the Historically Black College or University (HCBU) Dance Corporation, a non-profit that sponsors dance training camps, scholarships, competitions and more. In 2011, the Stingettes and the Passionettes tied for HBCU Dance's "Best in Stands" competition.
