So FAMU and Valley in the MEAC/SWAC challenge?

I can believe it LS. That game just needs some help. I agree it should have more local interest since FAMU is there. I also think the time of the game hurts too. Nobody wants to be in that hot arse Florida sun at mid day. If it was a night game, that would be better.

The heat was almost unbearable last year. People were passing out in the stands.

Your program has a history of showing up to win?! Not since Billy Joe left has FAMU been a consistent winner.

Yes we have a history of winning...even after Billy Joe...we had a mediocre look with Rubin Carter at head coach from 05-07...but once Joe Taylor took over, we started winning again(he went 32-13 in his first 4 seasons which included a Co-MEAC Championship)...last year was a highly talented but terribly coached team and even then every game we lost was by a TD or less(even against TSU and BCU).

We're used to winning in Tallahassee and expect nothing less from every coach we hire...and that's why there is such a short leash with fans down here

Damn, the 100 Black men kicked su to the curb?! Hmmm....

NOPE. The SWAC did by scheduling us with JSU. Both of our schools tried to get other folks to move games around and folks said no.

SU was trying to accommodate the 100 Black men but outside of JSU, none of the other schools were willing to move games around so we could reschedule the SU vs JSU game and allow us to go to Atlanta. We play you guys the same day.

Every year Duer and his infinite wisdom moves our conference games around that are not Classic games. He said he didn't want teams to get used to playing each other the same time and dates each year.

Honestly we would much rather play you guys in Tallahassee...a lot of FAMU fans are cool with the break from ATL for a little bit

A&T and SCState are not playing on the usual date. They are playing the first weekend in October.

Honestly, I think that game needs to rotate teams anyway. While FAMU every year was tired, i do think FAMU needs a steady presence in the game. FAMU-SU was a good change tho from the TSU-FAMU series. However, I think this A&T/SCState will be the breath of fresh air the game needs.

We would rather play you guys in Tally Ho and Baton Rouge too. But we were just glad to have FAMU back on the schedule by any means necessary. Our schools should play every year. The rivalry goes back way to far to keep having these breaks in the series.

I agree with you on this one...it needs to be rotated

Agreed...home and home is the way to go...yeah we talk about playoffs and SOS...but some guys just need to always be played

Yeah that wasn't the original date. Broussard was very public about it when it looked like it would still be on the 28th. I think the 100 Black Men had no choice but to move it to another date after it couldn't get SU and FAMU back and started working with other schools. But if we ain't playing FAMU or Tn State. I wouldn't care to play in the ATL anyway. We have played SC State in the past there. Wouldn't mind getting them back on the schedule period.

Yep. I always enjoyed coming to Tally Ho when I was in the band at SU. One thing I can say is the FAMU fans used to come to Mumford as well. I have had some serious noise talking sessions with FAMU folks. LOL.

Objection: Irrelevant.

The point is.. they moved the date so, obviously, SU had other options for a date as well. I don't think they wanted FAMU back because when they booked the new teams, FAMUs band was not yet re-instated. A&T & SCState were already scheduled to play on the 5th of October so they just asked them to move the game. Not sure if it's a two year agreement or not.

Hey I am fine with it. I just know we (SU) tried to work with the 100 Black Men to come back as they wanted. Now who we would have played, I don't know. I knew this year was going to be an issue once the SWAC office set the schedule.

That is also SUs fault, not the conference office fault. Maybe Broussard didn't know but you have to submit non-conference games/dates to the conference office and they will schedule around it. To be honest, SU messed it up because they didn't do what they were supposed to do.

TP, you ain't paying attention. Duer don't care about that crap man. Ask Vivian. Ask other ADs.

Broussard is not stupid and he is on our scheduling early. It was all on the SWAC office. Same thing happened to FAMU when they signed a 4 year deal with SU for home and home. The MEAC made them pull out after they admitted WS State that one year. The first year we played, we got SC State to move their game around to accomodate SU vs FAMU. But the next season was when WS State was moving up to the MEAC. Cost that series to be null and void.

Stop trying to make Broussard out to be some dummy that has no clue. Dude already got our games set for the next several years. He is on it. It was the SWAC office that was slow in getting their isht right.

JR, WSSU joining the MEAC is a totally different thing than SU not giving the SWAC office a date to schedule around. When new teams are added to the conference, OOC games have to go. You are seeing that a lot with the FBS schools when they add teams. The first thing they do is cancel series. Thta is apples and oranges from what you are talking about. That's like when the SWAC went from 7 games to 9, we had to cancel our series that we had planned with NW State.

I bet the SWAC office KNEW to hold Labor Day weekend for Houston-SU and they know when to hold games like JSU-TNState and they know when to schedule the MCC, etc.. I don't think SU submitted the date and they tried to fix what they messed up on the back end. Broussard may not be a dummy but he messed that one up. Just like you said, he has your games set for the next several years.. i bet he has already submitted those dates to the SWAC office.

The SWAC office don't fugg with Labor day any way. Most conferences do not schedule conference games out the gate. He also said he don't move CLASSICS within the conference either. Didn't you listen to Duer's interview? Man you are slipping. Broussard starting working on this right away once he saw the Sept 28th date for the 100 ATL Classic. Hell your own AD wanted to move some stuff around as well. But Duer is on this I do not want the non classic in conference dates to stay the same every year. He said it several times. The ADs are not happy with Duer and his ways right now. Call Vivian and ask what she thinks.

Broussard did what he was supposed to. He got NW State and U of H back on the schedule for this year already. He was in negotiation with the ATL Classic to come back. But once Duer said we play JSU on the 28th. It was dead unless we got other schools to move their games around. JSU was down with the plan. But your other conference members were not is what I heard. Remember this is a 12 game season. We would have made that game our 3rd OOC game.
