LSU RB Hill's probation extended, Can play for LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) --

A judge has extended LSU running back Jeremy Hill's probation and now it's up to coach Les Miles whether the Tigers' suspended leading rusher last season will return to the team.

Hill was caught on video punching a man outside a bar last spring. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery - a violation of his probation from an earlier misdemeanor.

During Monday's hearing, State District Judge Bonnie Jackson reviewed more restrictive terms she attached to Hill's first probation - including a curfew and bar ban - in May. Jackson sentenced Hill to 40 hours of community service on Monday and agreed to curfew flexibility when Hill needs to be out for football, including games and travel. Jackson had received a probation revocation motion from prosecutors.

The Tigers began practice on Monday and Miles had said he wouldn't address Hill's reinstatement until his legal status was clear.

Not shocked one bit. LOL. Once I read his attorney was meeting with the Judge. I knew a deal was going down. Now Les will reinstate him and probably have him suspended for a game or two to "teach him a lesson" and they will move on. Dude better be lucky he got out of this jam. One more instance and he is going to be done in more ways than one.

I'd like to nominate this guy and Johnny Manziel to the NCAA All-Idiot Team. :smh:

True.......Glad to see this young man afforded another opportunity. Hopefully, he will take advantage of this situation and make the best of it. He has the potential to become a millionaire if he just stay the course.

LSU has practice closed to the media today. Les Miles has a press conference @ 5:30. Some believe he will announce Hill's status with the team at that time.....

I will go as far as to say he will play in the first game...That will teach the team to respect the rules:rolleyes:

You may be correct. I listened to the press conference and Les would not tell the media he will sit out any games. He said that he will be disciplined internally and haven't decided what it will entail.

See here you go...They don't but get over it!

 :emlaugh:

If they don't like reading it, don't open the thread (not a hard concept). The thread has 350 hits thus far so someone(s) must be reading and interested.

 :emlaugh:

To his defense, Manziel hasn't committed a crime while on probation. Excessive partying gets critiqued but it's not a criminal offense. Hill better get it together cuz the next time won't get him a next time!

Not in the SEC but in the SWAC he will get another two chances

I like Les Miles, but I agree with the TCU coach on this one. I think he is just hiding behind his players, and allowing them to do what he really wanted to do himself - I lost a little respect for him on this one. If he had simply come out and said that the player would be on the team, and it was his decision alone, I could respect that. But to hide behind some vote by the players is weak.

TCU coach Gary Patterson is not about to let his players vote on a teammate's discipline.

Patterson, whose Horned Frogs open the season against LSU on Aug. 31, criticized Tigers coach Les Miles for reinstating running back Jeremy Hill after his teammates voted to allow him to return to the team.

"I'm sure if it was some opponent they'd beat by 100 points, [the players] wouldn't have a vote," Patterson said, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "It's not my worry. I've got to play whoever they put on the field."

"My whole team would vote Devonte [suspended TCU player] to be back on the team because they all want to win," Patterson said. "That doesn't teach life lessons."
