Alcorn adds University of Houston Transfer QB to mix


This thread is funny...but like I stated before Alcorn going to sursprise some folks this year and I hope they beat everybody except TSU!

What I said was this vvvvv...in reference to Alcorn and knowing what their potential to be this season...But I still stand by Bama St. for the east but if Alcorn beat them Alcorn will win the east...my prediction!

I am not fooled one bit I think you guys are a sleeper and would not be sursprise at any of the big games you win...But if Bama St can keep Barlow out of his own way they are a shoe in for the east!

Alcorn's Christmas gifts are the things JSU don't want or need... we don't need a transfer QBs or a transfer running back. We could probably use a transfer DB tho but we got one to transfer in already who we hear is a stud....

Also, Alcorn is trying to build a program. They need talent. JSU is in much better shape than Alcorn talent-wise.

She just knows she don't like JSU... she calls ASU a "shoe-in" when they only return 11 guys who finished second last year.

As for Alcorn, I look for them to finish ahead of Valley and AAMU. I have watched Hopson on the sideline and that dude in in every play and he wants to win and he seems to know how to strategize and capitalize. He had a whole spring this year and time to recruit. I can see why the Braves would be optimistic.

And there you have it in your own words why they might win the east and will be beating JSU barring any injuries that is!
 
The Braves will raise a ruckus with that Henning dude, since he young he may need time, but from his videos he can get the ball in there pretty good and he has good size too.
 
I remember John Gibbs, Jr. from Houston ISD's Booker T. Washington HS. He is a decent QB that has huge potential (his dad played football at UCLA if I'm not mistaken).
 
from watching his video he has some talent. The things that stick out to me are his footwork isn't the best (but he's a young kid he can work on that), and when he throws certain routes his ball hangs in the air a bit too long for my liking.

They are still years behind JSU. We might not beat them 50-7 this year but we should still be able to play our reserves in the 4th against them.

Yeah he was leading his receivers, stepping into his throws, even though he was under a ton of pressure from that weak OL. Of course, this was a highlight video as opposed to just game film, so everything is supposed to look good.

Another good point. You would think they would get their academics in order to get eligible for at least a JR campaign at some school. Especially ones who were highly recruited and have that next level (NFL) potential. Can't be that hard to get your grades right at JC.

They are there. Trust me, THEY ARE HERE. Maybe not as many north of I-55 but South of I-55, they are here. Can't hide behind talent in 2013. You got to actually coach and DEVELOP the players. Hopson can coach in the Swac. Our strength and conditioning is the #1 coach on staff.

Must develop and then instead of recruiting, we reload. NUTRITION IS ALSO VERY, VERY, IMPORTANT.

It's probably harder, JR. They're still in that same community, hanging with the same people who are the reason they had to go JUCO in the first place.

When I graduated from Jim Hill and went literally 4 blocks down the road to go to college. The first semester of my freshman year was a wash, b/c I was hanging out with childhood/ HS friends who weren't really doing anything positive. I had to distance myself from that, then my GPA improved because of it.

Development is good, and talent is better, but you are limiting yourself in state lines. It can be done, but any coach trying to build a solid program would recruit out of state. Heck even LSU goes into AL, MS and TX every once in a while. And they can have anybody they want in LA and still be a good program.

True. But South Panola has gotten better. They catch a lot of flack but I think a lot of it is undeserved. Almost all of their regional/ national recruits have been eligible over the years. Staying there has been the problem for Nick Brassell and Chris Strong. But they have had a good track record as of late. Administration has made a good effort with the kids in Batesville, MS. And these young guys are growing up seeing all of these former Dandy Dozens and All-Staters from the 90s working at lumber mills and chicken plants......that's the biggest motivator of all.
