Why is it so hard to ACTUALLY talk SPORTS?

DGTM, you are one of the few people I respect on this board but I have never understood people who expect a conversation to stay on one topic.

I have never had a conversation in my life that stayed on one particular topic. Conversations don't work that way. They may start on a particular topic and eventually something will be mentioned that will cause the conversation to go in a different direction. It may come back to the original topic, but I don't know what kind of robots y'all are because human conversations don't tend to stay on one topic.

"Why ... why ... tell 'em that is human nature ...." :noidea:

#Troll #ExhibitA

Negro I asked YOU a question about Valley and you didn't even provide a response. And actaully, 90% of that thread is football related. It just morphed into a discussion about Crowell's success as a RB. ..which is comparatively speaking.. minimal. No matter the direction of the thread.. people could answer. SU people were typing jokes. JSU and ASU got into a STATS battle about our running backs. ...who are clearly the best in the conference.

Angry much?

You ask a simple question to elicit insightful responses and folks go off on tangents about babymommas and bullisht that has NOTHING to do with SPORTS. Either that or somebody comes in and derails a discussion by obviously trolling and people fall for it EVERY time. If you don't know sports it's cool to just sit back and lurk, otherwise go over to smalltalk or the smackboard and trade verbal jabs and insults over there. It seems as if every topic now-a-days just U-turns and starts devolving.

That's the nature of this board bro. Too much damage has been done over the years!

Wasn't it just last week that someone from JSU started a thread about our next great WR, and SU folks start talking about people from their team that I'd never even heard of. So through all of that BS, I got information. It is what it is, Pham.

TSPN is like Ralph Cooper's sportstalk in Houston. Sports is the excuse used to tune in but it rarely goes beyond the superficial level.

Good topic....yet people will be people. Just like in life folks have a motive for the things they do....hell this the TSPN and there is a limit on SMACK so people test the line on the Sports Forum. :shame:

3 factors play into it, Immaturity, they don't know any better way to act due to their surroundings, and most are Narcissistic. Those 3 factors won't allow mature conversation.

 +1

It's a sad state. May as well just posts everything on the Smack Board.

Alcorn is Alcorn, Valley is Valley, JSU is JSU, AAMU is AAMU, ASU is ASU, Pine Bluff is Pine Bluff, SU is SU,
Grambling is Grambling, Doug is Doug, TX Southern is TX Southern, and PV is PV.

Folks nowadays are soft as tiolet paper. Sports is Sports .

I've honestly tried to listen to that show, but the shuckin and jivin and buffoonery was just too much for me. I got tired of them talmbout some damn steaks.

I hear you, but it's not the same. Every year is different because kids graduate, quit, transfer, and etc. I do think it speaks to a larger issue of alot of people not really being fans and just blindly talk about teams because that is their school.

In case you didn't realize it, mixed in with a few jokes here and there are excellent sports conversations, stats and information. You just have to be astute enough to decipher which is which.
The threads usually stay open long enough for you to make your comments and move on.

Are you petitioning to be a moderator?

To be frank, without a few laughs every now and then, the sports board would be boring as hell. Perhaps thats how some want it to be because that's how they are.
Then again, maybe it's because their teams aren't being focused on or talked about much. Hint, hint.

If you notice, it's the people who can't joke back who take offense. They act like sports talk can't also be fun and have variety.

some people mistake sports for bs. You don't put players down because they play for an institution you hate or go INTO PERSONAL STUFF

THIS...is true.

As if posting the same comments such as, "beating a dead horse", or "it's always the same people"...and my favorite wack ass comment, "hit dogs will holla" :whatever: is really adding to the topic. :noidea: Why post if that's all you have to add?! :banghead:

Sorry JAG-BR, can't agree with you on that one 100%. No, we should not put down on players...unless they go Johnny Manziel stupid.

Coaches though are fair game. It takes some THICK skin to be a coach.

Huh? That makes no sense. So Steeler fans should praise Tony Romo for getting a high salary, having won only ONE playoff game? Please. LOL!!
If that player does something to ruin his own reputation, that's on that player. News reporters write bad stuff all the time about players simply because the player is dumb enough to give them ammunition to do it. You make your bed, you gotta lay in it.
If a player don't want folks to talk about his faults, he should keep his nose clean.

And heck no I won't fail to put down a player from a hated team. What true sports fan does that? LOL!
