JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Tobias Singleton was one of the most highly recruited players in Mississippi coming out of Madison Central in 2011. The speedy WR eventually signed with Ole Miss.

Singleton spent only one season with the Rebels, catching just 2 passes for 12 yards. At the beginning of last year he decided to transfer to Jackson St.

The Flora native played immediately for JSU, grabbing 15 balls for 132 yards and no touchdowns.

Singleton says he's ready to return to the superstar form this season that fans saw when he played in high school.

Singleton is very talented. Lets hope he applies what he's saying in that video to the field. He can be deadly for us.

I think his head got screwed up and his game got off track at the end of his senior year in highschool when that girl and mother accused him of assault. Turned out to be nothing but the damage was done going into his Freshman year at Ole miss.

That dude is deadly at the WR position when his game is on.

With the type of offense we are about the run and quality of our top 4-5 receivers, I don't think anyone will get Rico's numbers this year. I see 3-4 receivers in the 300-500 yards per year range.

Beans said I was crazy for saying that...Tobias can make his money in the return game where Rico couldn't...Rico was horrible as a KR guy..Tobias can return kicks and he runs great routes kinda like Jaymar Johnson use to do thats why Jaymar got drafted!

Watch out for McKenzie as well he was good for us a freshman last year...There is a reason JSU is Wide Receiver University there arent too many years we go without a stable of Good Wideouts!

It should have been that way last year, and we would've been SWAC champs and probably have won more games. Moore always went to Richardson, and didn't look for anyone else. We saw that in the SCG. If he wasn't open, the QB would leave the pocket. But it was good for Rico b/c those #'s helped him make his way in the NFL. If Moore doesn't lock in one WR all year long in 2013, and goes through his progressions, we should be ok.

Having said that, it's likely Moore will continue to play the way he's been playing so we'll see a lot of read option this year. And I'm okay with that.

unfortunately you are right I hope Ivy is different and gets all his guys involved!

If they try to turn him into a Rico, he wont be that effective. If they move him closer to the ball and make him do everything including carrying the ball, he could be a very dangerous player. POTY potential

Yep. He reminds me of Chad Bumphis at MS State last year. Comegy needs to look at what Mullen did with him last year and implement some of that. Give him 10 touches a game and he'll definitely be POTY potential.

I would like to see what PVs OC would do with him in his offense.

Singleton is good, but I was more impressed with Montgomery in the return game and the freshmen at WR. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to force him the ball. And don't expect too much creativity out of the offense. If we're smart we will let the run game set up everything. I want to see Gooden/Sims get 30-35 touches a game. As long as that happens we are good.

Thats why I say move him closer to the ball, its not so much forcing if he's closer to the ball. Shole wish we still had CaseyTheGreat

Same he did with James Vernon. Orlando would bubble screen him to death or put him in space on a LB or safety.

You mean an OC would try to isolate his playmaker and try to get a mismatched?

Where they do that at?

He is good at that. I will give Orlando credit with that piece. He just tried to run the bubble screen a little too much or it became predictable and he would run that QB draw too much. He knows offense that is for sure. Just gets stubborn and gets bogged down in the redzone. He ain't a ball control guy like he used to be in the 90s.

He is probably still the best OC in the SWAC. Just drove me nuts at the end of his SU run.

JR that wasnt Orlando that had JV like that. It was Oliver :) . Oliver was SU's OC 02,03,04, and got fired after the Alcorn game in 05 after Pete brought Orlando back. But JV was a very special player. I looked at the 03 championship DVD the other day. SU wr squad from 03 was something else.

That's right. He was gone after the 01 season to TxSU. But he came back in 04 but only as QB coach. In 05 Pete let Oliver go during the season like you said. That was JC's first year at QB. So Orlando took over the OC job again in late 05 and had it until we fired Pete in 09. I always thought it was a bad idea to bring him back in 04 after he was gone for the 02 and 03 season. Pete felt sorry for him for getting let go with Bill Thomas got fired at TxSU and gave him a job. That undermined David Oliver I believed. Anyway back to the thread at hand.
